Should I create pagefile on ramdisk with my new SSD?

Hello

Got my new SSD which is the only drive in my system now. To avoid the heavy writing on this drive, I bought Superspeed Ramdisk more (IE temporary files etc.). I have Windows Vista Business 32-bit with 4 GB of ram. The Ramdisk software is able to use the ram 512-1024 that Vista cannot use. In addition, this software can serialize the contents of ramdisk so that it IS possible to run the file here.

I only use this portable desktop so I'm never near max on virtual memory.

So, should I create my swap file on a virtual disk? And if so, it would be enough with 512 MB pagefile? Vista will allow me to set this parameter or create the pagefile on my boot drive, regardless of my settings?

EDIT: Just for clarification and the difference of this thread and 1000 others, my concern here is the constant of writing in the pagefile on my SSD. Not the small gain (if any) the pagefile in Ram would produce...

SSD? Nice.

I try and run the pagefile from the Ramdisk to be tested, according to your needs, you may have to go to the EHR.  However, you should have the system handle it anyway.  You can change it, but for now, since the system is new with lots of RAM, test how the virtual disk swap file works if this does not work for you.  You can still use the standard configuration with the swap file managed by the system on the disk.

Unfortunately I am not too familiar with the Ramdisk software and good course:

Ugggh.  I have a 27-inch iMac late 2011 and the hard drive was updated with a new SSD.  The integrated cd/dvd had to be taken out.  I then bought a thought of superdrive, it should work.  It's frozen on my iMac!  Gee, who could have possibly guessed that would happen?  I tried all kinds of silly workarounds, I found on the internet, but still it will not register the stack of DVDs and other discs I have.

If you're like me and upgraded your iMac that came with a cd/dvd drive internal... so he has to come out to give way to the fusion or the SSD drive, do NOT buy the apple superdrive.  It will work with your computer!

Think I'll get a laptop samsung...

Ironic, isn't it? Own Apple SuperDrive will not work with Apple computers. Shame you don't check here first that we would have warned you. Return Apple overpriced and buy a nice third-party player for a third of the price. I love the LG units. You can consider a loading plate because they are more reliable, and you can use these pesky disc when you get one.

  • Replace T420s with a new SSD HARD drive

    Hello

I wonderd if it is possible to replace with a new SSD HARD drive, while putting the HARD drive in the Bay of Ultra-slot.

And if so, what SSD model should I buy, and how do I transfer the operating system and the data for the SSD?

This SSD model will be compatible?

Corsair neutron Series 120 GB SSD Sata III MLC 2.5 inches Retail

    Thank you very much

    Guy

Yes, what you are proposing is quite feasible. You will need an adapter Ultabay to organize your HARD drive in the Ultrabay housing on your system. These are available from Lenovo, but are relatively expensive. You can get a much less expensive (~ $ 10) a compatible version on eBay. It is not as well finished as the real issue, but it works well.

The best way to transfer everything on your SSD is "clone" of your HARD disk using a software as Acronis True Image. If your current HARD drive is made by Western Digital or Seagate you can get a free copy of Acronis on their Web site. Put the SSD in the SATA drive Bay and the HARD disk in the UtlraBay. Set the T520 to start from the Ultrabay, install/run Acronis here and make a clone for the SSD. Then boot from the SSD and you'll be all set.

With respect to the SSD, many people here have had good success with Crucial M4, 520 Intel and Samsung 830. I guess that Corsair works perfectly as well, but I didn't know all messages from people here who have done so.

Before ordering a SSD confirm if the HARD drive is 7 mm or 9.5 mm thick. Then order the same thickness SSD. This way, you will be able to use the metal rails caddy and rubber who now hold your HARD drive to contain the SSD.

  • HP CQ60-4098SA: problem starting with the new SSD on CQ60-409SA

I just replaced my HARD drive with a new 120 GB SSD 11 Extreme Sandisk.

Everything went well without any problem install Win 7 Ultimate and a lot more quick search time, etc...

The problem that I have, is that when I start the laptop from the cold, IE turn it on to use, the SSD is not recognized and I just get a black screen with the top left corner flashing cursor, but if I press on Ctrl-Alt-Del, the system restarts and boots then in windows without problem.

I'm trying to know if I can access Advanced BIOS Options, if I press F10 when booting I get only Options like to change boot order and not more advanced to change the training settings, etc. and F2 does not Diagnostics for the SDS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated I'm very satisfied with the performance increase that disk SSD gives Windows and start itme except for having to start twice.

    Best regards

    Hi Erico,

The SSD was visible on the Windows installation disc, but after I installed the AHCI drivers during the option to load drivers installation succeeded and starts as it should.

  • Need help with a new SSD OCZ Agility 3

I need assistance with my OCZ Vertex 3 60 GB SSD.

I bought it yesterday because my current HARD drive is too slow.

The problem is that I can't have my genuine version of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit on it and I tried the system recovery DVD, I got from HP.

    Is my laptop: HP G62-b60SD

Unfortunately my warranty has expired, so I hope someone could help me with this.

In order to get my work of SSD, I just had to put an illegal version of 64-bit Windows 7 on it.

But now I can't some functions to work, for example: disabling touchpad, brightness reduction etc.

I have HP Support Assistant and assistant wireless network from several Web sites.

How can I get my legal W7 Home Premium with the key functions of work in this regard?

BTW, I use the SSD as my boot and the main driver and my old HDD is now elsewhere.

Thank you very much for read/answer/help me already.

    Hello

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the activation code on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

Create an installation disk yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image from the link below (this has to be the same version as your original OEM installation - IE if your laptop comes with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, it's the commercial version accurate , you would need).

Use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a well respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use the disk to complete the installation of Windows 7 on your new SSD, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA in the request and one time Setup is complete, use the 'method of phone", described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want just that a new installation of Windows 7 without software load additional normally comes with facilities OEM.

Drivers and additional software you may need for your laptop can be found here.

  • Satellite L50 - A-1 DG - with the new SSD HARD drive replacement

    Satellite L50 - A - 1 DG

I would put my SSD in the PC and install win7 on it. But it does not work.

I try to put the SSD into the DVD rom adapter. It can not been recognized in the bios.

I tried to replace the SSD hard drive. Then the pc cannot start up. And I can't get into the bios or adjustment.

    Someone knows what's the problem?

    > I try to put the SSD into the DVD rom adapter. It can not been recognized in the bios.

This does not work with all models of laptops.
As far as I know that the laptop must support Slim Select Bay and the BIOS should also support this hardware option. But in your case, it doesn t.

One possible solution is the use of SOLID-STATE drive instead of the HARD disk.

You said that you are not able to access the BIOS after these updates.
Well, before you do this (a SSD drive connection) you should access the BIOS and must disable secure boot and must set the start mode MSC mode.

    The comments appreciated.

  • C870-19(r) satellite does not start with the new SSD

I will update the Toshiba Satellite C870 19(r) with a Pro 840 Samsung SSD, but it does not start.

None found system means that there is no system installed on the SSD drive...

    What you trying to do?
You start from a disk in order to install the new system?

In this case, you should disable startup secure in the BIOS.
I also recommend moving from UEFI mode MSC!

  • How to use the recovery with a new ssd disk after the death of original hard drive

    I thought I had a simple fix/upgrade for my dv5 - 2077cl.

decided to replace the defective hard drive with an SSD. couldn't afford a 240 GB size but it's big enough for my needs.

I installed the new drive easily and cycled through my 4 recovery disc reinstall the minimum overlap. After you delete the last record, the screen goes gray and there is a cursor in the top left corner for more than 10 hours.

I finally it turned off and tried again two times the same results. I removed the DDI and run disk management on it from my other laptop and an external cable to remove the partiion and create a single partition. Tried to install windows xp on a disk that I own this isn't an update or restore disc thinking I might switch to windows 7 32 bit because I own and upgrade the disks also. even if it is a 64-bit system, but I do not have any disk 64-bit except the recovery disks that didn't seem to work.

When I ran the xp it seemed to work but then I got the blue screen that said there is no drivers for the SDS (the error is as follows stop0x0000007B (0xF78D2524, 0XC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000))

So I guess I need to have a windows 7 install disk rather than the recovery discs?

the SSD is a Silicon Power S70 240 GB.

    any suggestions?

Recovery discs usually require a hard drive of equal or greater capacity. XP doesn't have SATA drivers Sockets.

If you can read the Microsoft Windows 7 of 25-character license key, you can download a Windows 7 ISO file to burn to a DVD or USB flash drive. The version must match that's installed on your PC as shown on the sticker COST Microsoft fixed on the bottom of the laptop. Like Windows Home Premium.

  • My dv7-2180us ceased to start with the new SSD (work)

    Hi people,

Just got THE Vertex 100 GB SSD last night, installed on my Pavilion DV7 laptop and went to the city. Installed Windows 7, flashed the bios to 0.41, installed the chipset, storage and display of HP drivers, installed office, installation of visual studio, patched and patched and patched again. All in all, it was three hours and 10-15 restarts with nary a problem. The _only_ glitch I met was at the very beginning, when the installer of Windows 7 stuck during the "expansion of the files. I just clicked on 'back', re-picked the scores he has already made and further success.

I turned off the machine last night and this morning it would not start. He would just stroll downtown. I tried pulling memory and disk, he beat POST, second addition of add-on, player still worked, added, crash. Replaced the SSD drive with my drive OEM, fine boots.

I thought the drive was toast, but put in a USB enclosure to make sure. It works perfectly.

Any suggestions? Seems to be a potential problem between HP, maybe the new bios (?) and the reader, but I can't understand why he spent so long after it flashes without problem.  Could I go back to an older version of flash?

    Thank you!

It would not be a bad idea to head over to ocztechnologyforums.com to check that you have the latest firmware recommended on the SSD. I followed the guide for my SSD Vertex and have had zero problems with my installation of Windows 7.

You should be able Flash the BIOS of your laptop computer to the previous version.

  • Wheel rotation, even with the new SSD

    Hi all

I have a mid-2012 Macbook Pro unibody (2.9 Ghz, Intel Core i7, 8 GB of DDR3, Intel HD 4000 1536 MB graphics card memory) running OSX El Capitan 10.11.6. Stock HARD drive used to run very slowly with the wheel that turns all the time, replace with a Sandisk 240 GB SSD drive recently. It's still at the spinning wheel, colorful, even with the finder. I have still 220 GB unused space.

Please help me identify the problem to solve this issue. I thank in advance for the support.

  • HP Touchsmart, model 520-1070: can I replace a defective hard drive with a new SSD in a HP Touchsmart, model 520-1070

The HD in my Touchsmart 520-1070 broke down.  I wonder if I can replace the defective HD with a SSD in the 520-1070?

Any recommendations on the type of SSD, where I could acquire an and have the existing data migrated from defective HD would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

If you purchase the SSD as a migration kit, it will come with instructions.

There is nothing you need to do in the BIOS.

It is good to hear that you have had the foresight to save the data to the PC.
