Should I expect my daughter of 17 year, a MacBook Pro 15

My 17 year old daughter has had a MacBook Pro 13 for about 5 years. His computer becomes slow (it takes a long time for it to turn on or for loading applications). She is also running out of room on his computer. I also thought that since she's going to College, and she had that old for so long, that I would like to get him a new computer. I took it to the Apple store yesterday to search for computers, and she likes the MacBook Pro 15 inches more. She says she loves the big screen and like the retina display. She likes to watch Netflix and thinks that the computer will be good for watching movies and TV shows. It seems that the MacBook Pro 15 is a stretch for her, however.  What I understand, it is primarily designed for people who do things with video and photos and it does not work. Moreover, I fear that the computer is too large to be easily transportable in a University campus (despite his protests that the computer is really light). Can I get the computer to him?

Personally, I think that this whole discussion is between you and your daughter and there is no reason for us to get involved.

  • Should you cuda for playback with 4 k on Macbook pro end of 2013?

My question is, I have a macbook pro (late 2013) i7, 16 G of ram, nvidia Gforce 750 m with 2 GB of memory ddr5, mavericks osx 10.9.1

Is this reading machine 4 k with only the software? or he must have active cuda?

Because I did several tests first with RED 4 k files and even with a resolution of 1/4 I always drop frames. Then I tested with Arri Alexa 2 RAW files k and first just may have a reading decent regardless of resolution 1/2 gal and droped frames, 1/4, this is a no go because there a lot of pixels can't really see it happening.

Another test was 4 k IOS Canon 1 d files. These files are still similar to the arri those, I do not have a reading no matter the resolution! These files, I can't even play on VLC they lag everywhere.

I handled the files on the flash drive SSD internal 700MB read/write, and then in a lacie us3, same problem. On the first with the software alone and cuda, same thing.

(I already posted on a diferent discussion, im having droped frames with cuda on simple H264 files enable, then maybe for 4 k is possible, but only when the cuda option works perfectly)

If its a problem with my computer, or you guys think its first Adobe CC?

    Thank you

CUDA does not at all help with reading.  It helps with effects, graduation, blend modes and other.

For this kind of media, you should really focus on a proper workstation with five internal drives:

    System

    Projects

    Cache / Scratch

    Media

    Exports

And you might want to consider making this Media Player a RAID 3, which means a minimum of seven internal disks.

  • What questions should I expect if I go my Macbook Pro version 8.1 of Snow Leopard to El captain?

What questions should I expect if I go my MacBook Pro version 8.1 of Snow Leopard to El captain?  Apple says it is eligible.

Start by looking at roaringapps.com.  It shows applications that do not work in the different versions of OSX.  In particular, the PowerPC applications do not work beyond SnowLeopard.

Report of the amount of RAM you have (more useful), and you might consider upgrading to an SSD if your hard drive is 3 years old only because that for speed and because each HD eventually die even if it isn't now.

  • What kind of speed USB should I expect realistically? (E200 & Clip)

What kind of speed USB should I expect realistically? (using the pliers & E200)

I'm finally migrate to a pretty decent computer, after having struggled with a very SLOW Dell for another few years.

My USB transfer rates are MUCH faster than them - saved file (WAV), which took about an hour and a half to transfer on the Dell, Dell will transfer in maybe six or eight minutes on this new machine.

However, I still get a small fraction of what I think I should get - I didn't record the numbers (they vary somewhat from run to run) but I don't think I've EVER received anything faster than 2 megabytes per second when copying the Sansa to the computer. (Computer a Pentium dual-core, 2.8 GHz, 4 GB memory, running Vista 32 bit.)

It is not a problem of USB port on the computer - pretty pedestrian USB flash drives and cards MicroSD (USB card reader) will transfer at rates much higher than the Sansas.

Is this normal and something I have to live with, or is there something I can do to speed things up?  (I've done a lot of research, did not find much, but one thing I noticed was someone who said have received something like twice the throughput when using MTP mode, as it did when using MSC.)  Personally I don't want to use the MTP - I prefer a lot being able to drag and drop via windows shell folders Explorer standards rather than dealing with Media Player, synchronization, etc.

Well, I decided to look at a file copy operation - he actually hit 4.02 MB/sec for about two seconds.  Began slowly, gradually progressed a little faster that it happened, got to 3.80, then oscillated around a little, then a little up to 3.99, then hit 4.01 for a second or two, then fell back again and then up to 4.01 for maybe two seconds at the end.

So, faster than I thought, but still pretty stinkin' ' slow, given what can make USB 2 (and MADE do with other devices, so I know it isn't the computer - and the fact that it happens for you also confirms that it is not something unique to my situation).

So why are they so slow?

  • Should I get a Macbook Pro or an iPad Pro to use for the next two years while I do my A-Levels?

    Hi all!

So I am currently doing my GCSE, I'm looking to my future at school aka Sixth Form (A-Levels). I won't be carrying massive files that weigh tons and can easily broken / lost files kept in the breast, as do the current year. However, I checked with my school and they say that you can use the technology as an alternative. Instantly I thought to Apple, since I love their products and buy regular. I have a Apple Watch, 6 s iPhone and an iPad 2 Air (we sell) but I want something new and powerful, I can use for Sixth Form.

So my question is, should I get a Macbook (any model) or a Pro iPad with accessories?

    I take:

Technical design - so should run CAD, Word, be fundamentally powerful and able to have sketches.

Media Studies - must be able to manage several videos 4K and execution of things such as Word, books, and iMovie.

Geography-Easy access to the internet anywhere, possibility to draw diagrams and just to run applications etc and be good at watching documentaries, etc.

Mathematics - internet access and video on good quality, easily be able to write notes and information.

So which one should I buy? Please can you help me

Given your needs, a MacBook Pro seems to be more appropriate.

  • Should I buy a Macbook Pro now or wait?

    Well Hello

Although not a technical support question, I just wanted to ask the community on my decision to come. Quick note, I work in it and have already decided on the Macbook Pro because of the needs of its use and don't need no recommendation based on form, thank you!

So, I put aside enough money to buy the Macbook Pro I've wanted for awhile now, I need a smaller but still powerful computer. Currently I have a 17 ""notebook"made for the game and it's a monstrosity away truly mobile heavy." This is beyond powerful with 32 GB of RAM, an i & - 4870HQ, one of the fastest SSD m2 on this side of the industry and it rips a GTX 980 M with 4 GB of video memory dedicated. What I'm basically is that I really don't need another PC, I need something that is both powerful and lightweight and I can't comfortable wear everywhere where I need to.

The next factor is the fact that I'll be moving to Indonesia in October. I need a cell phone smaller, lighter for the work that I can run a virtual machine with Windows to on it for work, whether through VirtualBox or Parallels. Believe it or not, concurrent computer virtual running independent of the OS can be very demanding! Also Apple products are a status symbol there. However, rumors, which I know that no one can confirm officially, pointing to a late summer or early fall release of the new Macbook Pro, but since WWDC is around the corner I think I'll wait and see if Apple chooses to surprise us. After that WWDC is when I will make my final decision, and that the decision is whether I should buy a Macbook Pro now or wait until the new is revealed. I love the promotion they have going now where you the beats certainly of high quality solo2 helmet and education, discount that I can use since I started back to school to get an MBA.

Yes, sorry to be long-winded and irrelevant, once or twice but I really appreciate all the comments. I expect many many time to make this purchase. I used to dislike apple products until I realized how beautifully, they are built and the high quality of the materials and the intuitive user interface. Already, I have an iPhone 6, an Apple Watch, an iPad Pro with the pencil of the Apple and the keyboard, and even this types on a keyboard of magic. I can't replace my PC awesome game, but I need something not quite as powerful, but a lot more portable.

TL; DR: Should I wait until the new Macbook Pro is out or take advantage of the current promotion and get a current model, and yes I am aware that the current model is more than a year.

Yes, thoughts? And thank you for your time!

  • Should what MacBook Pro I buy?

    Hey everybody,

If I had a question that is probably pretty common on this site, but what MacBook Pro should I buy?

I'll start my first semester of College this fall, and while I'm still contemplating Windows machines, I'm almost certain at this point, I would get a MacBook Pro.  Currently, I plan to study computing, so I tell myself that I might need a computer a bit bigger than some for some of my classes.  I know now that I do some light programming (an intro to programming course), and in general, I'm a nice user-oriented.  It's really my only problem with Macs is that the price is really high here.  Don't get me wrong, I've owned an iMac in the past, and they are fine machines, but they are certainly costly compared to Windows machines depending on what you get the material.  In any case, I honestly think I could live with everything in the basic model of the 13-inch MacBook Pro 2015 model, except for the dual-core processor.  I'd like to drop $2,000 on a 15 inch with a quad-core model, but it is a little more that I want to go, and while I probably could afford it, it would be cut close.  I looked into buying refurbished models and units of other years as 2014, 2013, etc., but it is uneven, at best, and again, the prices are quite high.  In fact, my main question is, programming on a processor dual-core i5 in a MacBook Pro (and other intensive tasks from the computer) would be a comfortable experience?  And not only swift, but other languages like Java as well.  Any help would be appreciated, especially by someone who has been in a similar situation before, or someone who has an intensive experience of programming and other tasks from the computer to the machine in question.

    Thank you!

    Sincerely,

    Aschenputtel

  • MacBook Pro 9.2 breaks down after 2 years

    Hello

I bought a Macbook Pro (13-inch, mid 2012) 9.2 on June 6, 2014. After almost two years, he froze one night. After restart, it showed a gray/white screen with an exclamation mark in a folder. After a visit to the store where I bought and a diagnosis of HARD drive, it appeared that the HARD drive was broken. So far so good.

I replaced the HARD drive, but the problem persisted.

That's how the problem was revealed: I managed to launch several times and it worked like a charm for several hours, then again: freeze (spinning beachball), the mouse will not move, the system is totally insensitive.

Strange thing: the Apple Hardware Test showed no problems.

Another strange thing: once, I was streaming music on the internet. He continued to play and he always did it for 30 minutes. Then, I held the power button for the shutdown of the system.

After reboot, I had a gray screen with question mark or a sign of ban folder or the symbol of apple with a spinning wheel. After leaving "rest" for a few hours, it starts again. I performed this ritual for several days. So far: the laptop computer is unbootable. It seems it's broken for good.

The real question is: If there is a hardware problem (motherboard or memory card), how was the system able to work several times for long hours. It may not be a software problem. With the new HARD drive, I reinstalled the system.

I googled HARD drive cable might be vice and that this could be the source of the problem. As something bad connection. But how can you be sure? Everyone knows about similar problems with his Macbook pro 9.2 (13 inch, mid-2012)?

I am very disappointed. It's the second Macbook Pro abandons him on me. The first one (15-inch Macbook Pro 4.1) broke after four years due to a faulty graphics unit.

    Thank you for your suggestions.

To test a possible cable fault, remove the HARD drive, plug it into the MBP via USB and start the MBP with the OPTION key down.  The HARD drive icon should appear, click on it.  If it works normally, then that is an indicator that the SATA cable is defective or has a bad connection.

    Ciao.

  • I recently bought a Macbook Pro model of basic (January 2016) from the Apple site and found once it arrived it was a 2012 model. Should I have a leg flying to complain?

I recently bought a base model Macbook Pro 13 "(29 janvier 2016) of the Apple site and found once it arrived it was a model 2012." Should I have a leg flying to complain? I expected to have been a model of 2015 at least. There is no indication on the site it is a 2012 model that I see.

Because the MacBook Pro with the DVD has not been updated since 2012, there is no 2015 version of this model. I think Apple has this MBP autour, for those who really need an optical drive on the road. Otherwise the MacBook Air or rMBP is a better computer (and the 2015 MacBook Air is faster than the MBP of base)

  • I have a iPod Classic 30 GB. I have a new macbook pro and I managed to put my iPod, but now I can't synchronize my iTunes to iPod. What should I do next?

iPod Classic does not sync with iTunes on MacBook Pro.

If "reset" means you did a restore on it (to erase it), after the restoration, the iPod is set by default to use the parameter manually manage music and videos] .  If you expect not to sync automatically, you need to Sync music.

Connect iPod and to find his button on the device to iTunes.  The screenshot below shows the left upper corner of the window of my iTunes, iPod button circled in red.

Click this button to display the settings of the iPod summary screen in the iTunes window.  Along the left side, in the sidebar, under settings, click on music.  Parameters of music from the iPod screen to the right.  Check the box to Sync music.

NOTE: For anyone else reading this, all the songs of the iPod that are not in your iTunes library will be lost.

This enables automatic synchronization.  You can choose to synchronize your entire music library or a part of the selection .  Implement this screen as you want, and then click apply to sync iPod.  Further, iTunes automatically keeps iPod "in phase" with the changes in your music library (or the selected part of it), when you connect the iPod (or click sync , if already connected).

If this isn't the problem, thanks for posting back with additional details about your situation.
