Hi Bill,

In a general scenario, CD player, once installed automatically remove and replace drive XI.

You can try to do this.

In case you have any difficulties or conflicts when installing CD player without removing the XI player, in this case I would advice you to use

Adobe (applicable for Windows only) Tool cleaner uninstall the earlier version of the player and then install the latest version of the player.

Let us know how it goes.

If the installation provided with your Windows computer discs was preinstalled on the computer - it is OEM and cannot be moved. You can move Windows to another computer if you buy the retail version.

You can move the windows on a new computer

If it's a full license or upgrade retail - Yes. You can move it to another computer as long as it is installed on one computer at a time (and if it's a version upgrade the new Windows computer must have its own license of qualification). The previous Windows installation on your old computer must be formatted or deleted. You will have to perhaps call Microsoft and explain what happened to complete activation. Turning it on the second computer will automatically be in effect 'disable' the license for the first computer.

If it's an OEM license - don't. OEM licenses, including Windows preinstalled on a computer before purchase and Windows purchased separately, are related to the first computer, they are installed on and cannot be transferred to another computer. To install Windows on another computer, you will need to buy another copy.

  • Impossible to update of Windows Media Player and Microsoft Security Essentials and the error is "access denied error 80070005."

Apparently an involuntary change of administrative privileges or permissions (Windows XP Pro, SP3) keeps me updated Media Player version 9 to 11 v. and updated virus Security Essentials definitions.
For Media Player, wmsetup.log reports access denied error 80070005 and UpdSpAPI.log reports access denied for the HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Settings\MP3Encoding\LowRate registry key. In regedt32, I'm blocked from display HKLM\...\MediaPlayer\Settings and below, and "are allowed to view the current permission settings, but... can make a change." Except that I can't. I can enter the change but get «...» Access is denied"trying to apply them. So this is the first problem that I need help.
But of course it's more than a registry key and the subkeys, because MSE too is affected and will download but not install virus definitions. WindowsUpdate.log reports: failed to install with error 80070643.
My user account (it's the only one!) is part of the Administrators group and all that I tried to verify administrative permissions is positive. This is a new issue. No virus/malware, according to MSE, Lavasoft Ad-Aware, MalWarebytes Anti-Malware.

  • XP to XP: new XP install + only old HD that had XP, not the old full XP machine.

I have a new install of Windows XP Pro and I am trying to transfer the old hard disk user settings. Is there a way to do it with just the HDD connected or do I need to reinstall the old HD in a computer and run the wixzard?

AFAIK, you can't transfer 'settings' without going through a working Windows installation, although you could, of course, copy all the files of data, including the 'Favorites' (favorite IE) to X:\Documents and Settings\nom_utilisateur\Favoris (where X: is the letter of the old hard disk).

Depending on what you want to copy things from the old drive, there are manual methods to retrieve the data; You'll have to ask specific questions.

Of course, you need to reinstall old programs from original installation media (or the downloaded installation files).

Just break out the old drive in any old computer as the 'system disk' is not likely to work unless you do a repair installation of Windows, which is becoming more trouble than its worth just to copy the settings of the program.

  • The old permissions problem - cannot install Flash

I know this is an old problem but I tried all the remedies in the book and a few I've never heard.  I just can't access the old file of the dll.

Vista tells me that I have not even allowed to view the permissions for this object.  So, to say things simply I can't install Flash 10.1 and the old one has been uninstalled except for the file annoying dll.

I tried all methods to lower the level of authorization or raise my authority without success. I even tried some risky approaches.  Is there a way to force the installer to install the new version to a new location?

    TIA.

I converted MS-Outlook 2010 e-mail folder (and emails) into a PDF portfolio. When I have Adobe Reader X R-clicked, selected, I got and error message "To display the contents of the Flash technology in this PDF file, please install this version of Flash Player that supports Adobe Reader and Acrobat". I get the same msg when I try to open it with Acrobat. He worked the week last in Adobe Reader. I have the latest version of Flash Player installed. The portfolio opens when I click on < more >, but the Index is missing and I can't get to the first email. PC platform. Anyone else having this problem? If so, how to fix?

You are running Internet Explorer by chance? If so, the Flash Player you have is NOT in need of Adobe Reader and Acrobat. If there is a link in the message, use that, rather than assuming that you already have Flash Player. If this does not work, let us know.
