Should I iPhone backup to iCloud?

Hello

Have an iPhone 4S with IOS to date that has not been saved to iCloud for more than a month. I backed him up for MacBook, but whenever I have connected, connected to WiFi and try to backup, it gets 80% done and then says: «can't save now»  I tried the suggestion to remove the old iPhone backup from the clouds, but it can not be deleted at this time. (Backup of what we call takes place 0, so not much of a backup to delete).

Have a new iPhone 6s, so I'll be able to use it from my backup computer, or what I need to see this thru backup?

Thank you.

If you back up in iTunes, then use your iTunes backup to restore.

    Hello Matteo,.

1 - you don't need to so much backup data of safari at all. If you use your password will be that there anyway, if you're not, having own Safari in a new device could be a good idea to keychain. iCloud drive is another application, you can use it to store any desired data, whereas iCloud parameters in app use their own space, you can see it in settings > general > software & use of iCloud.

If you have the space available, use iCloud music library and photo library iCloud, so all your media go. Anyway, there is no harm in doing a full backup locally in your computer using iTunes, you can remove it once you have restored your device and will be likely to recover more quickly.

  • When should I be connected to iCloud on my iPhone

When should I be connected to iCloud on my iPhone

All the time. in my opinion there is no need to disconnect. But that's just me. iCloud works in the background. synchronizes photos, bookmarks, passwords, etc. All data, which must be recovered, when for example you lose your phone.

Do not turn off during the night, do not turn on flight mode use the mode night so, iCloud can do a full backup. The phone must be powered and needs active WiFi.

Turning off iCloud will take you to the time of Nokia 3310.

  • iPhone does not backup on iCloud despite the library on

My iPhone is not backup, despite the option is on. He used to work very well with my iPhone 6 and Macboo pro. Now when I get the pictures on my laptop I don't see the new photos.

Please check that your device is correctly connected to the wireless internet (settings > wifi) and is plugged into a power source, check also that you have enough space in iCloud for your back upward.

You can check the space available in settings > iCloud > storage and the space needed for the next backup to the settings > iCloud > storage > Storage manage > backups > appliance > Back Up Options > next backup size (wait for the spinning until the gear icon).

Assuming that you are eligible for iCloud upward, you should try a forced first stop, hold down the buttons side in top and home together until the unit stops, then restart by pressing the side/up button.

Then, try to connect the device to a new location (different WiFi network)

If your backup continues to fail, you can try to disable the backup on your mobile device (settings > iCloud > backup), reboot the device and then turn on BackUp on new.

If this help not disable backup again, remove your existing back to the top of settings > iCloud > storage > Storage manage > backup > this device (scroll down) > delete backup, restart the device and then turn on BackUp.

If you are unable to make a return to the top, try to connect on iCloud (settings > iCloud (scroll down) > Sign Out (you will need to enter your password at this point), restart the device and sign in iCloud to settings > iCloud.)

The next thing to try would be to restore your network settings. (Settings > general > reset > reset network settings)

Reset your network settings will erase your cell phones and wireless network settings, including saved networks, passwords for wifi and VPN settings, that you can use. It will affect to the Internet but will not be an impact on telephone services because these settings are automatically configured by your carrier. It may take a few moments to enter again all your network settings, but it shouldn't cause you any major problems. If you are comfortable re - enter your network settings, you can try this step earlier in the troubleshooting procedure, i.e. after the forced shutdown suggested above.

If this does not help, try to disable some elements for the back upward in a model to try to establish if your problem is caused by specific data on your device. You can do with settings > iCloud > storage > storage management > backup > appliance > Back Up Options.

If you are still not able to perform a backup from iCloud, you can try to restore your phone which you should do by making an iTunes backup via your computer and restore from that.

Be able to go back to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you have access to a computer or rarely have access to one, however unless you need specifically to use iCloud to go back, you'll find a backup on iTunes much more convenient and possibly more reliable. However if you save up to iTunes be sure to encrypt the back upward if you want to keep your data on health and passwords etc.

  • iCloud iPhone backup

    Hello

I use an iPhone 6s 128 GB gold. I recently saw my iPhone Backup is great 17 GB, and I started to ask me, whence these 17 GB come, given that iCloud is not backup Apps, Podcasts, music, and other media. The research that I did just confused me even more. ICloud data stores of the App does not add up to 17 GB (by far).

And what else confused me, was that there are apps, contain way more data, they seem to have on backup, for example my app dictionary dict.cc , which contains the value of 250 MB of data is only 15 MB back up.

The same problem with my Google Maps app, which stores a large map.

Can someone help me and clarify things? Thank you very much!

I had four of the five short videos of my granddaughter practicing at the piano that were somewhat specific, but they no longer exist. The 'automatic' to iCloud backup occurs normally in the night - only if the product is connected to a power source AND offers free Wi - Fi.  You can perform a manual backup to iCloud?

  • Why the iCloud iPhone backup Photo lib is so great?

Settings-> General-> storage & use-> iCloud iCloud, manage-> backup storage, this iPhone-> watch photo library to use 2.9 GB.

I have only a few pictures in Photos.

    Settings-> General-> storage & iCloud use-> storage, manage storage-> Photos & camera shows use 1.4 MB.

What else is included in the backup of the library that makes it so great?

My config: iPhone 6, 16 MB, IOS 9.2.1

    Settings-> iCloud-> options for Photos:

    iCloud library picture OFF

    My Photo Stream WE

Upload Photos of burst off the COAST
    iCloud Photo Sharing ON

I deleted the backup, turned iCloud backup on again., and did a manual backup that seems to have solved the problem. The iPhone backup uses about 100 MB now that is what I expected. I'm still puzzled why he thought he needed 3 GB to save the picture before Lib.

  • Restored iPhone 6 sauvegardΘ iCloud, ok except iTunes.Full library if poster not only purchase music. Some songs will play-"product is not available.

I use an iPhone 6, 64G.  Running iOS 9.3.1 (I3E238); It comes with the music on the iPhone app.  My phone was stolen and I restored the replacement using iCloud.  Everything works, and all the information has been restored except music.  I tried enabling iCloud music library in the settings, and I get this message:

iCloud music library can be activated - you can turn it on later Music of parameters (this is what I did). So far, your music is not available on other devices.

During this time, all my music is available on my iPad, what is on the device which is in the cloud.

In addition, the music that shows on my iPhone is purchased one and the same music then no, not all.  When I try to play any song, I get the following message:

"Product is not available" - this song cannot be read.

I'm not sure what more I need to do.  Should I sync with iTunes on my computer?  I think that was part of restoring from iCloud.

    Thank you!

You use the same Apple that you had before you lose your phone ID? Is so iCloud music must synchronize but all your music which comes from your computer (such as the ripped CD) would not part of the backup to iCloud. You'd have to resynchronize only the music using iTunes.

  • You forgot to turn off pairing Apple Watch - I can restore from a backup of Icloud?

Hi, I have a 1st generation Apple Watch Sport 38mm.  Recently, I sold my 6 s Iphone in anticipation of the arrival of the Iphone 7.  In my haste, I forgot to turn off my Apple Watch match before sending it away.  I have been using a loaner phone while I was not able to restore from Icloud because it doesn't have enough memory so I have just set up as a new phone.  When I paired my watch with her that I had to reset as I was not able to select a backup (because it's not because I didn't have it odd).  I'm afraid now that I've lost all my previous data.  Do you know that if I can restore my Apple Watch from a backup to Icloud - I won't be able to try this until I get my new phone, but just pray that I can choose a backup for my watch from my phone when I put in place?  Thank you very much

    Hello

When you pair your watch with your new iPhone (after restoring your backup to iCloud), you can choose the option to restore from backup if he is offered throughout the entire upward:

  • Backup both iCloud and Mac iOS devices?

I went to a Genius Bar appointment today where the genius told me I can't back up my devices iOS by connected directly to my Mac. He said that the backup to iCloud over wifi is the same thing and I need to do both. He said if I've changed devices, I could do the restoration completely to iCloud, I don't have to restore from a Mac or time Machine.

Can it be true? What applications I, who hold their own data? Can I count on iTunes store up to iCloud?

Secondly, whenever I plug in my device iOS directly on my mac, iTunes/Photos wonder if I want to import a large number of photos, and then I end up with duplicates in my library of Photos.

Of course, it is true. Since the launch of iCloud, Apple gives you the ability to save your iCloud or your like before Mac iOS devices. The advantage to backup your iPhone to iCloud, is that a backup is performed automatically when you load your iPhone and it is connected to a Wi - Fi network. See-> about backups in iCloud and iTunes - Apple Support

Note that you can do iCloud backups backups and iTunes at the same time if you wish. When you plug your iPhone to your Mac, iTunes will keep the possibility to make a local backup if you want to.

Regarding your second question, I suggest to create a second thread with it, so that you don't mess this thread with different themes. This will allow people with the same issue find the answer quickly.

  • Don't turn off the misdeeds of the option of backup (storage iCloud) the application or at the end upward in a data loss?

I'm having a total allocated 5Gig my storage space, in my iPhone5s (16 GB, last update 9.3.2). I have backups for like almost most of my applications. So I tried entering space by turning off backups, for some of the apps. Now who will be harmful?

In other words, for example say I have backup for WhatsApp and then turning off, I'm freeing storage space. So once I have turn off backup, what actually happens? It does not store messages or conversations in the cloud?

Adding to the question above, what is the difference of the backup power off and removing documents and data out of the app?

    Any help would be appreciated.

To your first question: no backups in iCloud means that if you don't back up your device with iTunes on your laptop, an accident or problems, you will not be able to recover your data and your data will be lost. But turn it off doesn't cause any loss of data, that you are prompted if you want to keep what you have in your device or not (always answer ' keep on my iPhone ")

Secondly, the removal of the information from the application deletes your progression of game, or Safari bookmarks, or attached or any other app login information. It deletes the data on your device.

  • Apple ID asked when restoring from a backup to iCloud

    Hi all

First time poster, long drive date...

I just updated from an iPhone (new) 6-6 s (reconditioned). During the process of "ICloud restore backup" on my device of 6s, he asked a password to *, in addition to my password for iTunes/App Store.

At first I thought it was a remnant of the previous owner still present on the device, but after Googling * it seems that this account is not isolated to my question / unit. It doesn't seem to be a solution or explanation on the forums, but exactly the same problem. Have I possibly bought a reconditioned unit that was previously Jailbroken? Is anyway of deletion * completely from the device/account?

I tried to erase content and settings a couple of times and yet one time, through the process of installing but * is always asked. Support or people who may have additional information would be appreciated.

Whenever people download an itunes - song, ringtone, or app, as the software has an identification label. Tag contains information of apple ID, to which it belongs.

So when you back up old phone to icloud - icloud server sees this tag and to download over restoring the backup to icloud, due respect for copyright Apple it asks you to enter the password for this software. Usually, this is a song/s downloaded illegal in some country file sharing applications. You now have the choice to enter the password if the password is known to you or skip this step and the apple server will not download this software on your phone. If copyright protection agencies read these forums for people like you who would be an easy catch.
