should I really a complex login password?

I use a laptop while attending night school to get a higher degree of security of Information systems. One of the things that briefly covered in course of last night is on the recovery of the lost Windows login passwords, as well as their reset. Given that we have actually demonstrated how to get into such a system, and as such, the tools are available pretty much everyone around me, is there much of a point using a hard-to-remember, hard to type complex login password? A simple (but hard to guess by humans, although easily broken by l0phtcrack) easy to type and remember password discourage someone by chance loggin and trapping me or do things, but anyone who would be committed to participate in the school has the tools and knowledge to do so.

They boot CD, crackers, etc. I put a BIOS password, I think that there are ways around this. I know that there are jobs, I've just never bothered to investigate a laptop.

In light of this, it is really worth the aggravation to use these complex passwords on my laptop? I want to store anything of value on the laptop. Just about everything what I record is stored on a flash drive, anyway, and I have my browser remember not the words of past value.

The laptop is also old enough that few people will want to fly for the material.

Hello

Login and password BIOS is not enhanced security measures. For the most part, they stop the curious. In fact you do not have
must have a password of connection at all and the system boots directly to the desktop of the default user.

If you need security for important data then the encryption of files and folders, and could even the entire disk
be used.

FreeHide folder - free

Encryption software of free disk for Windows 7/Vista/XP, Mac OS X and Linux

FreeOTFE is a free, open source, "on-the-fly" for PC and PDA transparent disk encryption program

You could also check the file with WinZip or other compression programs that support passwords.

I hope this helps.

    Kambiz salvation,

If you forgot Windows login password, then you can login as administrator to assign a new password to your account, or you must have previously created a password reset disk of the computer.

  • I got the message "the u of typed password does not meet password policy requirements, check the minimum password, the password complexity and password history requirements" when changing password

    Original title: password problem

When I try to write a new password on my windows ultimate 7, I received this message.

"the u of typed password does not meet password policy requirements, check the minimum password length, password complexity and password history requirements"

What can I do? I can't change my password :(

    Hi MedoXW,

This means that you must create a password that meets all of the requirements

    1. make sure that the password is at least 6 to 8 characters.

    2. make sure that the password includes at least 1 capital letter, 1 number and a symbol as "!" or "$".

    3. make sure that the password is not one that you have used in the past.

Follow all these rules and it should work.

    I hope this helps.

  • How can I delete a combination login/password individual for one Web site? (Android)

Let's say I have use a hotspot with a Web portal to connect to it on a regular basis (in my case, hotsplots). Connections are valid only for a certain period of time, so after a while, I need a new login and password. FF (latest version of Android, current Nexus 4) recorded it for me, but after a while, the drop-down list with all the login/password combinations took so long, it's hard to remember that it is the active connection and soon the list is longer as the size of the screen allows. I don't see a way to remove a login/password unique for an individual site, google search gave no results to my surprise. Please let me know if there is a case for bugzilla, I'd be happy of the present.

True, but it is a workaround - and since some data private revelations are not as confidential as it may seem, I am hesitant to install third-party applications. I'll mark this as resolved issue and request a feature to the dev team - thank you.

  • Windows Vista login password lost - how to get around?

    Hello

I managed to forget my login password for my account, so I can't bypass the connection now. Is it possible so I can restore my password? My account has administrator rights.

There are many ways to 'restore' a lost windows password... But I guess that you are not involved in anything like that, so it is quite difficult to explain. Takes a long time. You have sensitive data on your account? Otherwise I would advice you to reinstall windows. If you have sensitive data, you can try to take your hard drive to another computer and make an account on which now bears the same name as yours. You may be able to copy your data then.

  • Satellite A300D - 18 H - Forgot login password for Vista

Daughter has forgotten its login password Vista for its Satellite A300D 18 H.
Is there a way to recover the password, and if so what is the best way?

    Thank you!

There are ways to reset the password to a blank password. I don't think that Toshiba would allow us to post tools like this on the forum, so having a search in google.

Another solution would be to fix the HARD drive on another PC using a USB adapter, copy your documents and other important files, then put the HARD return drive to perform the recovery and then copy backup your files/documents.

  • Map network drive Auto Login password

    Windows XP mapped drive
Auto login password when the computer is restarted is not correct and therefore prompts the user to enter.
Self-opening worked before. Yesterday, the password for the server has been changed.
I disconnected the old drive and created a new drive mapped with the new password and auto-connect on reboot option checked. Player features mapped correctly until the computer is restarted to indicate the user login box with the error message invalid username or password. Enter the password manually will connect the drive. It seems the automatic connection parameters have not last updated the new password and still uses the old password.
(With disconnecting mapped drive, remap the process of training all our computers Windows XP I have this problem but our Windows computers 7/8 are all working correctly.)

I found a solution to this.

1 disconnect a mapped network drive.
    2. connect a network drive, but are not select Reconnect at startup.
    3. restart the computer. The mapped network drive is not there.
4 map the network again drive. This time select Reconnect at startup.
5 restart the computer. The mapped network drive will be there and activation it will automatically connect with the password.

    Hello

Only 11 characters appear on the screen of Windows XP connection at a time, but if the user holds just type the characters will continue to be entered. Please, continue to type the complete password and verify if you are able to connect.

I tested just a password 21 characters who allowed me to log in and out without a problem.

  • Windows 7 update fail now no login/password page

during the automatic update my windows 7 Home Edition premium crashed and now restart on the login/password page does not appear, the page that is displayed is the page it would be if there was no password.  When I click the button to load blips off and return to the same page, it's never of error messages, only the shutdowns

I tried all the options repair, restore hangs and the system check returns without error.  I did the repairs at least five times with no change.  My feeling deep operating system is looking for a password, but there is no way to enter.  Any thoughts?  Thanks in advance

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

According to the description of the problem, it seems that you can not connect to your system using the password for the connection. You tried to fix your system several times still faced the same question.

The question might be if there is a corruption of the user profile. Then, I suggest you to activate the default Administrator account on your computer from WinRE and see if the problem is resolved.

If you do not have the installation media and then the link provided below might help you to download and create installation media.

Download Windows 7 Disk Images (ISO files)

You must have the Windows 7 installation media, start the computer to the high Win RE command prompt, you can follow the steps below:

    (1) use the Windows 7 DVD to start the computer from Windows Recovery (WinRE).
    (2) in WinRE, open a command prompt. To do this, follow these steps:
On the screen to install Windows, select the appropriate language to install, time and
currency format and keyboard or input method options and then click Next.
    (3) click on repair your computer.
    4) click 7 installation you want to repair, and then click Next.
    5) click on command prompt.
At the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:

lusrmgr.msc in the online search and press enter

NOTE: This file is located in C:\Windows\System32\lusrmgr.msc

    1. open the User Manager and local groups.
    2. in the left pane, click the users folder.
    3. in the middle pane, right click Administrator, and then click Properties.
    4. to activate the built-in - Administrator account
    (a) clear the account is disabled box.
    (b) proceed to step 6.
    5. to turn off the built-in - Administrator account
    (a) check the account is disabled box.
    6. click on OK.
    7. close the windows local users and groups.
    8. close the session, and you will now see the built-in Administrator account log additional icon (active) or removed (disabled) to the log on screen.

NOTE: Click on the Administrator icon to open a session the built-in Administrator account.

Hope it would help. If problem persists always post back with the current state of your computer and the result of the proposed suggestion, we will be happy to help you.

    Kind regards
