Should I use IDE or a SATA HDD in a Satellite A30 303

Hi there, I was wondering what HARD drive I can get for my laptop A30-303 because the old is dying today being a machine for 4 years, so I would like to upgrade. Y at - it a maximum size of the machine, or I can put in any size of HARD drive?

Also the HARD disk doesn't have an IDE or SATA interface?

Hello

As far as I remember the Satellite A30-303 PSA30E series came with a 60 GB 4200 RPM HARD drive.
The laptop supports the Enhanced IDE (ATA-5). This means that you need to use the HARD drive that supports an IDE interface!

But note; not all HARD drive sizes are supported. There is a BIOS HARD disk size limitation.
I'm not sure on the compatible HARD disk sizes but in my opinion, you should be able to use 80 GB, 100 GB of maybe too.

Best regards

    Hello

I think it might be a little difficult to get Windows 7 drivers for this good old classic... The point is that Satellite A30 isn't designed for Windows 7, then you the way simplest are using Toshiba recovery disc where all the drivers and tools are already preinstalled.

I can only find Windows XP drivers on the Toshiba site, so in my opinion, it would be the best choice for this laptop.

Why you n t follow the first thread?
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=25158

I discovered that the WiFi network is optional on the A30-203. If you can update the laptop with a minPCI wireless network card.
After further investigation, I discovered that the Wireless LAN Card Kit PA3212U-1MPC may be compatible with your laptop.

This can be ordered from the service provider authorized in your country!

PS; I didn t find any info if your 3362U-1MPC is supported or not.

    Hello

You need the Intel Matrix Storage Manger.
This package contains the SATA drivers.

    Hi all

I have a tecra S3-PTS30-E, which came from the company, I work for which was no longer necessary.

I replaced the current 40 GB with two different - hdd

    Western Digital 250 GB WD2500BPVT

    Toshiba 120 GB - MK1252GSX

I tried both separately and windows XP pro service pack 3 will not recognize either.

I have downloaded the driver sata toshiba Web site and installed via F6 at startup, windows asks you what driver, windows 2000 or XP, I click on XP and you enter, windows continues until advising so none found HDD

I also tried to download drivers intel after searching other threads, and it does not work through floppy.

I also added the drivers toshiba XP ISO using nlite to create a disk slipstream and while xp is loading the disc, I noticed 'pilot toshiba raid' being installed. Same no result no hard drive found.

    Can anyone help?

    > Tecra S3 - new 250 gb Sata hdd - windows does not recoginse

According to the specifications on this page:

    http://reviews.CNET.com/laptops/Toshiba-Tecra-S3-s411td/1707-3121_7-31556311.html

Your laptop's Ide interface, as far as I know on the old IDE interface there is a limitation of LBA 28 bits, which means that the laptop can only manage hard disks up to 128 GB.

  • HDD upgrade on Satellite Pro A120-184 - SATA or PATA interface

    Hello

I have a 120-184 (1 year) and want to know if there a SATA or PATA interface? I need to upgrade the hard drive, but here? m do not know what model to buy... To be honest I don't really know the difference!

    Sorry for stupid questions,
    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

    Hey Buddy

    You need a SATA HDD.
The P - ATA is a technology more old which has been replaced by a new interface standard called SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment).

As I m wrong not the satellite Pro A120 was equipped with 60 GB HARD drive.

I think you should be able to use the 100 GB or maybe a 120 GB hard drives.
More big disk HARD s could not be recognized by the BIOS correctly.

In case you I would not try larger 120 GB HARD disk sizes.

    See you soon

  • Tecra M5: Need support USB2 for SATA HDD

My beautiful new Tecra M5 uses a SATA drive, but most USB enclosures still accept only IDE drives. My question is: does anyone know of a door-USB2 for a SATA drive?

I would like a similar disk box USB2 to backup my Tecra laptop by cloning the full hard drive (using Casper XP). If/when the primary drive fails, or some other calamity, all strikes do I have to do is to replace the internal drive with USB support. (It is not so common, but my hard drive failed once, and the cloned drive saved the day).

Until I can find a SATA support I use Acronis True Image to backup on an IDE drive images in a USB support. Even if it seems effective, I'd rather have a cloned drive because it is easier to make a recovery dummy to prove that the procedure works without risking to damage the data on the primary disk simultaneously.

    David Tong.

    Hello

As far as I know the external uses the IDE interface.
I have not seen cases of HARD drive external for a SATA HDD.
But you can also use the external USB case with an IDE interface for backups. But you need a new HARD drive. But the HARD drive are not very expensive (depends on the size of the HARD disk)
You can save the backup image to a file and then you can place the file on the external HARD drive.
If something goes wrong with your OS, so you can use the backup file to restore your operating system.

    Thanks for all the suggestions

I suspect that you are using an older version of Ghost.  I suggest that you contact Norton Support to find out how to work around this problem.  SATA drives need special drivers (or return them to IDE mode in the bios of the computer, but I don't know what will happen good stability when you do) to run in BACK only.
  • Installation of a second SATA HDD in 500-304nd Pavilion

I recently bought the Office mentioned in the topic, as well as a second 1 TB SATA HDD to add. I found the connections for a second car but unable to find a place on the computer chassis to physically install the disk. What is the secret here? Do I need a room to mount the HARD drive and if so: where can I find one?

    Thanks for your response!

I found a simple solution to mount the second HDD:
-J' noticed that the HARD disk that comes with the computer is mounted using the holes at the bottom.
-J' used the screw holes on both sides of the HARD drive and those identical on the second HARD drive, using four strips of metal (with screw holes on the same distance as the thickness of a HARD drive) and eight live, to link the two together.

  • Can I use second HDD on my Satellite P300-PSPCCE?

    Hi all

I have a German P300-PSPCCE bought a few months ago. I noticed that the laptop has two bays for 2.5 "sata DISKS, which one is already ocupied by the drive by default, and the other has some ankles plastic on the portable drive door, which makes impossible to another harddrive on the Bay.

The question is: if I remove the pins plastic of the door drive and put another HARD disk, with appropriate fixing stuff, the laptop can handle? (power, motherboard compatibility and so on...)

    The second is:

Recently, I had an old P200 mother due to a bad Connection USB with an experimental device that I developed burn.
Now it s hard to find this old P200 motherboard.
I m planning to buy a motherboard of the P300-PSPCCE mine, but I Don t know where to find such a thing, so I m asking if anyone knows where I can find it, please can U show me the way?

    Thanks for any answers

    Daniel.

    Hello Daniel

My brother has Satellite P300 and we found the same situation.
Most important is if your laptop has connector to the second HARD drive. If so, you can connect but it needs the HARD drive cover.
My brother has deleted these rods plastic carefully and everything is OK now. It uses 250 GB SATA HDD.

Old motherboard, you can try to get a Toshiba authorized service provider in your country.
Another way Google a little bit and see if you can find some online store where you can order one.
Another option is to check eBay.
Maybe you can find some old P200 with broken screen, but with good working motherboard.

Is someone can please tell me that what is maximum supported 3.5 "SATA HDD by Dell Poweredge C6100?

    -Said

    Hello Saeed

The SATA drive bigger than we sell to the C6100 2 TB, but we sell Nearline SAS up to 4 TB of the C6100. I see no reason for a SATA drive more 2 TB should not operate.

my screen is dirty, what should you use to clean?

    LCD or CRT?

If it is a CRT glass, you can use Windex and paper towel. Spray a little on the towel, just enough to moisten it (not enough to leave any term) and wipe the display until it is clean. Follow up with a scrap of paper dry towel or microfibre.

If it's an LCD screen (even on a laptop), you can use the same method, but NEVER use a napkin on the screen LCD; Instead, use a microfibre cloth. They are less likely to scratch.

On any type of screen, it is a good idea to use something like a can of compressed air to blow something loose there first before wiping.

Please help as I am new to the hardware configuration.

    Thank you in advance.

You must configure RAID first. If you use the RAID S100 controller on board, it is not compatible with 2012.
