Should Satellite Pro M70 driver SATA?

Satellite Pro M70 must SATA driver for HARD drive?
If yes where can I find it?

Hello

Hmm. Satellite Pro M70 is a bit older, but it supports the SATA HDD controller and usually the SATA drivers should be included.

As far as I know that Windows XP should include SP2! This is important.
In addition, you must include the driver AHCI (Intel SATA AHCI Controller V5.1.0.1022) for Win XP.

Usually, this driver should be required to get the XP working on the M70.
Just Google for this Intel SATA AHCI Controller driver
Page Intel should also provide this driver too

    Hello

The laptop uses a simple 2.5 SATA HDD.
It's not really important what the speed of the HARD drive is supported, but I recommend to use the 5400 RPM or faster 7200 RPM HARD drive

Generally all HARD drive size should be compatible because the SATA controller has no limitations.

  • External USB floppy drive for Satellite Pro M70

I just bought a Satellite Pro M70 Centrino Mobile 750 to replace my Satellite 5105 - S702, which exposes the same type of problems of corruption/crash video display described elsewhere in these forums.

I need an external floppy drive, and the site of the Toshiba shop specifies an external USB Floppy Drive Ref. PA3109E-3FDD.

However, I have an external drive USB Floppy, Réf. PA3109U-1FDD, I bought for the satellite 5105-S702 about 4 years ago.

    Hi Alan

I really don? t know why you ask if the floppy drive will not work. Why you don? t he try? As far as I know, it should work and you should not buy a new one.

Just for info: a few months ago, I saw the Toshiba FDD drives with part number PX? And these drives are not bootable but on the lower side, there is a label with this information.

Anyway, you can use your other more ancient. According to the specification tested for MS M70 is FDD Drive Kit PA3109U-1FDD (your one).

  • Satellite Pro M70 - what HARD drive can you recommend?

I have Satellite Pro M70 and I have a 60GB HDD that I see what it s SATA 8 MB of buffer memory. The processor it s 1.73 GHz. I see that there is the Samsung typical 160 GB and the Western Digital Scorpio Blue 160 GB at the same price, which is better?

And for only $ 11 more there's a Scorpio blue Western digital 320 with even 8 MB buffer than other 2. But I don t think so 320, that's a lot for Satellite Pro M70, and I have an external drive 2.5 "250 GB, data with this is not problem.

What the best solution for this laptop? I don t want to burn now the phone LOL.

    Hello

If your laptop is already equipped with SATA interface, you can use each HDD with SATA1 or SATA2 port on the new SATA interface there is no limit on the old standard IDE

It s your choice what HARD drive you buy because I put t know your needs, but in my opinion it makes no difference which manufacturing you buy the HARD drive. All hard drives are similar and there is no significant difference (performance).
I made good experiences with Western Digital and Hitachi hard drives.

By the way: you can buy a HARD drive with 7200 rpm or 5400.rpm. Latter is faster but requires more power. In my opinion, this is useful if you often work with large files.

    Hello

I've never heard of the Microsoft kernel DLS synthesizer and that's why I studied a bit.

I found this MS developer site:
    http://msdn.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa940369.aspx

    It is said:
The component of the Microsoft kernel DLS synthesizer provides the port of DMusic, content class miniport driver in the dmusic.sys file

It seems that most of the problems with this kernel occur due to lack of SP2.
If you have installed Windows XP you need to update the operating system to the State.
All service packages must be installed!

  • Video capture with a satellite Pro M70: which ports and drives can I use?

I want to edit my home movies on my Satellite Pro M70 using WXP Pro (win dvd or movie maker). I want to capture video from my panasonic camcorder that has digital strips. What are the ports that I can use and what cables do I need? I'm desperate to edit my recent wedding video to put on DVD and mail it to my mom. The panasonic website has ignored me! Any advice anyone?

Well, as far as I know this unit has only one S-video output port. In this case, you can connect the laptop to the TV and look at the photo of laptop to TV but it of not possible to receive all the signals of TV or any other device on your laptop.
To receive the signals, you need a composite or a s-video port.

However, if the camcorder has a firewire if port you can send digital files through the firewire connection. But this should only work with digital files that are saved on the camcorder.

  • Satellite Pro M70-113: cannot install Vista graphics driver and lines appears on the display

    Hello

I have satellite pro m70-113 with ati x 700 graphics card.

When I installed vista, he installed the default drivers for the x 700 'mobility radeon x 700-microsft Corp.-WDDM '.

I've updated the display drivers for vista, that released by toshiba 2 days back... but the driver is not updated to the latest version, only the catalyst control center is installed when I ran the update of the driver of toshiba.

The problem is that whenever I put my laptop in standby or hibernation and resume... the screen shows thin lines vertical/horizontal... and I can't use the laptop... and I have to still put the system to sleep, just to hope that it is not blocking the screen this time...

This problem is 25% of the time only when resume...

This problem is not resolved by the update driver for toshiba has released a few days back... as is not installs the drivers (I can't even install the drivers with the option "update drivers" of Device Manager and select file driver update from toshiba.) It says windows find new driver, but could not install the driver... Contact the manufacturer...)

This snap shows the problem... : http://img360.imageshack.us/img360/2783/12042007366copyod1.jpg

I updated the driver from an earlier version of catalyst, as it is downloaded from the ati site before that toshiba has released the update... this time it updates some 8. XXX version but the screen problem remains...

Second, this update of the driver leaves me not sleep my system... the process starts for a sleep, but go back to the locked screen without making sleep ever... so I have no choice to get stuck with the default Windows... drivers having only the problem of the screen... and not the problem of sleep...

    Anyone here with a solution?

    Thank you.

    Hello

I have Satellite M70-159 and I noticed the same thing several times. For most Vista works well but I don't remember cases in which the described problem occurs. I was just curious on M70 Vista and have had no time to intensive testing.

Anyway, it will be interesting to know if you have already updated the BIOS to the latest version 5.10. If this is not the case to do this and watch carefully if the problem persists.

    Hi Alan

    1.
Can you use IE and other applications if the WIFI network is not secure with WPA2?
    You can test using WEP?
Just to be safe because of securing WLAN.

    2.
You are right. Your model has Intel WLAN card and if you need a new driver just visit Portal Toshiba WLAn under http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/

I really don't know what service or upgrade of system you are using, but if everything works well you don't need any update to date.

  • Re: How to use Recovery Expert Mode in Satellite Pro M70-220 product recovery CD

I would appreciate advice on the following points.

My Satellite Pro M70-220 (PSM75E-00D008G3), portable computer has 4 partitions created by Acronis Disk Director costume v9:

    C: OS - Win XP Pro SP3
    D: programs
    E: data & downloads
    F: backups

After you start the laptop in Win XP, I inserted the recovery CD Toshiba in the DVD - RAM drive

Preinstalled software factory will be installed.

    * 2. Recovery expert Mode WARNING: *.
This is for PC experts only.
Preinstalled software factory can be installed on an existing partition.

My questions are linked using the "Recovery Expert" Mode:
-I'll be able to use the "recovery of the Expert Mode' the recovery CD to reinstall Win XP Pro (pre-installed software factory) on my C: partition, while affecting only not partitions D, E & F?
-I'll be able to format the C: partition by using the "Expert recovery" Mode, without formatting of other partitions?
-What is the exact procedure of "Expert Recovery Mode"?
-where can I find more information on the procedure of "Expert Recovery Mode"?

    AlanCB

    > I'll be able to use the "recovery of the Expert Mode' the recovery CD to reinstall Win XP Pro (pre-installed software factory) on my C: partition, while affecting only not partitions D, E & F

Yes, this should be possible. Using the Expert Mode of recovery, you should get the ghost window where you can select the partition where the OS is to be installed. In this case only that partition would be formatted.

    > will it be possible to format the C: partition by using the "Expert recovery" Mode, without formatting of other partitions?

Yes, theoretically it should be possible.

    > what is the exact procedure of "Expert Mode of recovery"?
As I mentioned above, this mode allows you to restore the operating system on a partition of some and only this partition will be formatted.

  • Satellite Pro M70-113 does not start up - it hangs at the logo screen

    Hello

    I have a toshiba satellite pro m70-113.

Sometimes when my laptop turns off mode standby automatically, due to inactivity and then if I press a key on the keyboard to wake up nothing happens and I have no other choice but to it stop completely by pressing the button for 5 seconds.
But when I restart it works well, that is to say, it starts very well.

But today, when it is in a similar situation, I restarted the laptop, the screen move after the logo screen toshiba. I have the power on several times, but without success. It crashes just on screen toshiba logo.

After a few restart I pressed ESC while restarting and the toshiba logo changed to the texts POST bios screen.
And I found that the text will not go forward after having reached:
    Find disk 0:
    Maybe default feel HDD initialization...
    The captured image is here:
    http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/9986/image007sp2.jpg

Note: this is a capture when, I don't know how the system has just begun works very well and can be seen that the HARD drive is detected normally this time. While the earlier version, it will not proceed after having reached "Found Disk 0:

So, the problem is that at the time of the problem, the hard drive was not read / initialized or something like that.

And I remember that when I tried to reboot my laptop and it did not work. It was running on battery and when I switched power supply that worked.

So it is a problem that has been fixed in a bet to update BIOS, but for another laptop (see laufendspass post) his link on this forum is here:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=13143&MessageID=48143

And my current bios version is 1.1 and an update is available for v1.30... (But I have not yet updated)

Another problem I had met some time was same this post mentions to be corrected during the update of the bios.
i.e. "corrected: a computer that is turned on to State power and running on battery power, may crash if the user is connected to the AC adapter while it is start.»

So, for this, all mean that these problems can be solved by an update of the bios v1.30 which is available for my Satellite m70-113?

    Please answer.

    Hi Ashish,

The fact that the initial POST process cannot access your hard disk suggests you that there is a possible problem with the drive, maybe he is not in place correctly when power is applied to it. The contents of the disc should be OK, then I suggest you take a good backup of your system (or at least your personal data) If you manage to get your notebook to boot successfully.

I do not think that an update of the BIOS will affect any on that since the problem does not seem to have a certain 'trigger', and if the BIOS cannot access the hard disk then no matter what version of BIOS you are using.

    Kind regards

Well, in this case I would exclude the RAM to malfunction.

I put t also think that it's an overheating problem because the laptop should work a little longer until it would be closed due to high temperature.
