Sierra Time Machine / Time Capsule problem

After installation of Sierra, I am unable to use Time Machine to a Time Capsule.

There was a MacBook Air with two bootable partitions. The partition Macintosh HD has a system of Yosemite and the score of 'second' was a partition of El Capitan, which was created by a clean install and then allow Migration Wizard copy on Macintosh HD, all accounts, settings, networks and other files. The two partitions have been saved by Time Machine to a Time Capsule. The Macintosh HD partition has been erased and Sierra has been installed on Macintosh HD and Migration Wizard was allowed to copy during the second all accounts, settings, networks, and other files.

Time machine has not worked since. It gets the error message 'no available backup drive.' However, using the Finder, I can get the time Capsule, open the sparsebundle and see all the individual backups. Because I had erased Macintosh HD, I went through the steps to http://pondini.org/TM/B6.html 'reconnect to my backups. Which made no difference (probably because Time Machine is not really see her driving the sparsebundle to the Time Capsule, even if the Finder does no harm to open it).

Then I tried to select again the Capsule as the backup drive. It asks for a password. I give the password and shortly after it comes up with the error message: 25299 Keychain error when creating a system keychain to the URL entry and the user name '< name >' "afp: / / < name > @2%20Tb%20Time%20Capsule._afpovertcp._tcp.local./Data.

(where < name > is the name of the logged-in user) I get the same error message if the user is an independent Director. Despite saying that it was not able to create an entry in the system Keychain, Keychain Access shows that there is an entry with the password. In addition, despite being unable to choose as the backup drive time Capsule, he mounted and left on the desk, the time Capsule (containing the sparsebundle) data folder.

Any suggestions?

You are the second today with errors of Keychain.

Time machine on network not connection

Sierra is a new OS will have a few bugs... but I think that the way you did this configuration is problematic.

Actually, you have now two partitions with different BONES, but they will have identical computer names (migration has more the name). And it could also spoil the UUID of the disc.

I guess, but I would say

1. change the name of the computer.

2. start a new backup... do not try and link the existing backup.

3. If you still have no success Delete TM (A4 Pondini) plist and reconfigure.

No post luck returns.

  • Time Capsule - problem with the backup

    Hej!

I get the message "an error occurred during the file copying. The problem may be temporary. If the problem persists, use disk utility to repair the backup drive. "A bit of research on Google, it seems that to restart the time capsule actually perform a repair disk. So I did it. The problem comes back, and sometimes she disappears, if I restart the backup, which confuses me. Is it possible to view the error logs and check what is the problem? I'm afraid that the backup drive may have hardware problems. I bought time capsule airport little for more than a year (in Sweden).

Someone else has encountered this, and what was your solution?

    Johannes

Most of the questions is network... and the error messages may not clearly identify between a network and disk problem problem.

I bought time capsule airport little for more than a year (in Sweden).

How long this problem has been going since then?

In Europe the warranty period may be 2 or 3 years by law.

Certainly if you have AppleCare on a supported product... computer, ipad, or apple TV the TC will be replaced by Apple under warranty. Just explain your problem to them.

If you do not have access to the warranty or replacement.

I highly recommend that you check your drive TC if there is nothing on what you need... then do a single pass low level format. It's utilitarian airport disk tab Archive is here... then the clear operation.

    Erase use the single-pass option.

It is a low level disk format. (Don't bother with 7 and never even dream of using 35).

If the problem persists when you restart the backup I suspect network problems... or the TC is a failure... mine (a 3rd in 3 years) comes from the same way... I pulled the drive and replaced it with a better brand than the basic model known problem seagate used Apple.

  • Time capsule on the Sierra

    Hi all

Since I upgraded to Sierra, Time Capsule (TC) is not automatically connect to my MBP. Now every time, I must click on TC icon in the side bar of the Finder, and then click the Connect button and in the password again popup click on connect (fortunately I don't have to enter the * password each time). Before the upgrade, it has never been a problem and TC would be always connected.

I have repaired permissions while logged in; First aid also made via recovery mode; TC restarted; MBP rebooted nothing helps.

Ask any entries, while I continually connected TC & save the MBP

    Thanks in advance

Open AirPort Utility, and then select your Time Capsule, and then click change. Then select the disks and connect using his password. Remember that the password is saved in the keychain.

Sierra has been problematic with the TC.

    1. make sure you don't have any charge virus protection software. In fact, I would say that disable all software 3rd part at the moment.

    2. make sure that you can actually write to disk of TC.

Attach the TC disc in the finder and copy a file on disk, you can delete it later... It's just to ensure that you have full write permission. If it does not for the most part, you won't be able to use Time Machine... If you can then try TM immediately...

Just to be clear, the TC is a network device. You have tested with ethernet and wireless... Ok.. They are only suitable methods. You cannot use USB. And clearly, TC has never had nor will never be ports Firewire or lightning.

    3. no chance that a reset complete TC. This will not delete the files on the hard drive, but you must make sure that the device is configured on the current computer.

    4. There are many positions in these days... read through them and do some research. Sierra is a bleeding edge new... So wait you to spend a lot of the precious liquid if you choose to be an early adopt.

We understand your current configuration of the network with the Time Capsule (TC). Is the TC the only router on your network? What is the brand and model of the modem Internet you have directly linked it by Ethernet?

Normally you use a wired connection or wireless between the iMac and the TC? This always was a problem or just started to happen? If she just started, have you changed any software/firmware on the iMac or TC?

Time Machine problems prevented the Mac owners of their devices to backup since the upgrade to Mac OS Sierra, and the problem is widespread enough that Apple has published a guide on what to do if you can't back up:

    Discount for the iMac SMC

    1. turn off the device

    2. unplug the power cord from the monitor

    3. wait 60 seconds

    4 reconnect the power cord

  • I have my time capsule for base station; How do I set up just for Time Machine?

For several years, I have used Time Capsule as a wireless base station more backup Time Machine. I back up a Macbook Air (single user) and iMac with 2 users (two computers running on OS X 11.5). With Comcast Xfinity I need is more like a base station. In fact, I reset my router Xfinity name and password to replicate what was the name and the password to my Time Capsule network. But, now that it's done I can't understand of set up time capsule without set it up as a base station. The installation guide seems to suggest that I could do so by plugging the ethernet cable from the modem to an ethernet port which is not the WAN port. But this configuration did not work. The installation wizard only took me the steps to set up a wireless network. How can I simply we it with Time Machine as an external hard drive?

The installation wizard only took me the steps to set up a wireless network. How can I simply we it with Time Machine as an external hard drive?

Simply turn off the time Capsule wireless.

To do... Open AirPort Utility, click on the Time Capsule, then click on modify in the window that appears

Click on the Wireless tab at the top of the next window

Change the setting for the Mode of network on 'Off '.

Click Update to save the changes

But... and this is a big BUT... This work of pourrait ... and maybe not. Even if the backup on the Comcast network seems to be working, there will be no help from Apple in case of questions or problems of backup.

The reason is that, so that your Time Machine backups be supported officially by Apple, users must save on the Time Capsule wireless, or connect their Mac (s) directly to one of the three ports LAN <>- on the Time Capsule using a wired Ethernet cable connection.

If you decide to try the method of failure to load, please let us know how things work after a few days.

  • Time Capsule airport problems

I have several questions, setting up a home network, but I want to start with the problems I have with the time Capsule.

Until 2 days ago, the time Capsule was working fine.  My setup is the ISP router connected to the Capsule of time and the Time Capsule hard connections on a USB for extra storage and ethernet to an iMac.  Also several peripherals wifi like the pads and phones.  No problems.

This past weekend, I started to set up a home network by adding an ethernet (TP Link TL SG108E) switch to one of the ports ethernet on the Time Capsule.  Of the switch, I have then several ports around the House (recently redone to include an Ethernet cat. 5) connected now to two Apple TV and a security system at home.  No other device is currently connected to the ports and all connected devices work without any problem.

The time capsule.  In the past 24 hours, the time Capsule disappeared from Airport utility.  I can see the wireless signal and connect to it.  I use the time for constant Time Machine backups Capsule and continue without any problem.  I can see the Capsule in the Finder, can connect you and the USB that I have connected to the time Capsule, but no time Capsule in the utility.

My future plan must use two of the ports around the House with Airport Express devices to expand the WIFI, but as I can't see Time Capsule in the utility and I can't install Express devices.  However I tried to put in place one of the Airport Express devices and the process has begun to extend the Time Capsule network, but then I got a message "unexpected error".  So, first thing first, problem of Time Capsule.

    Any ideas?

    Let's first, as you note.

Your message did not mention if you had done a full Cycle of power network. If you have not already done so, it would be a good fundamental mission of troubleshooting to be performed, because he will give everything a new departure and will often solve a problem similar to what you experience. To do this...

    • Power off all the devices on your network... modem, computers, printers, accessories, mobile devices, etc. in any order you want.
    • Wait a few seconds
    • Turn on the modem and let it run only for 2 to 3 minutes or more if you want
    • Then, switch on the device connected to the modem and leaves turn a good minute
    • Keep power devices one at a time about a minute out until the entire network is back
    • Check the network

    Please report your results

  • Cannot remove old Time Capsule for time Machine destinations

My MacBook Pro moves with me between my home office and the different clients that I visit. At home, Time Machine backs up a volume of Time Machine on my Xserve served to the network by OS X Server. I guess that for the Mac it looks like a Time Capsule, although in my case, it's a RAID 5 with 12 TB of capacity.

The problem, when I connect to one network other than my home network. As you can see, the window from system preferences Time Machine offer 'Time Machine backup on 'Dominik AirPort Extreme' network', which is not actually present on any network. When I go home, Time Machine continues to try to save this destination does not exist and does not back up the volume on my Xserve. I have to manually switch for my Mac starting the backup on the Xserve again.

How can I make my Mac forget this volume forever? A couple of system reinstalls, to the end that I use the Migration Wizard to copy the configuration of the system from a backup, have not helped.

On the computer of my wife as a backup destination appears, the good pair:

Restart the computer and re-create your settings in the Time Machine preferences window. Falsely, it will show that you have no backups. Don't worry; your backups have not been affected.

Perform a backup to test. The backup can take much longer than usual. If TM now works as expected, delete the file that you copied to the desktop.

Did you turn off all of the network and restart everything in the right order... modem to transport CANADA for computer... with 2 min between them?

If you have already tried you must reset the TC factory and redo the installation... it sometimes get lost.

Start from a factory reset. No files are lost on the drive hard in doing so.

    Universal factory reset

Turning off the TC... That is, remove the power supply cord or the power at the wall outlet, wait 10 seconds... Hold the reset button... be nice... Turn on always even now in reset... and keep holding in for another 10 seconds. You may need assistance because it is difficult to hold in reset and power on. It will show the success quickly flashing led front. Release reset... and wait a few minutes for the TC to reset and return with the factory settings. If the front LED flashes quickly you missed and simply try again. The reset is quite fragile in these... Press the key while it is just click away and not more... I've seen people bend lever or even break. I use a toothpick as a tool.

NB. None of your files on the hard drive of the TC are removed... This simply clears the settings of the router of the TC.

    The installer the TC.

And then redo the configuration of the computer with the Mavericks - Yosemite - ElCapo. (MYELCAP)

    1. the use of very short names... NO APPLE RECOMMENDED names. Without the space and pure alphanumeric characters.

for example TCgen5 for the base station and the name of the TCwifi wireless.

If the problem is using wireless TC24ghz and TC5ghz with fixed channels as it also seems to help stop the nonsense. But it can be tried in the second round. IE, plan on a first and second series of changes to fix this... If all goes well... I note other steps can you tour2.

    2. use all passwords also consistent with 1. but maybe a little longer. IE 8 and 20 characters of mixed cases and numbers... no alphanumeric non-caracteres.

    3. If the TC is router, you can ignore this point. It is only a problem when the TC is bridged.

If ensure that the TC is always the same IP address... you will need to do this on the main router using a dhcp reservation... or a bit more complex setup by using the static IP address in the TC. But it's important for deriving from intellectual property in all directions when MYELCAP do not remember his name for 5 min after a reboot done for poor network management.

    4. check that your share on the computer name does not change... Make sure that it is also in line with the above... short without space and pure alphanumeric... but this change will mess up your TM backup... so be prepared to make a new, full backup. Sorry... keep this one for the second round, if you want to avoid a new backup.

5 attach the TC disc into the computer manually.

In Finder, go, connect to the server in the main menu,

Type in SMB://192.168.0.254 (or whatever ip of TC is that you made static. It's a default router 10.0.1.1 and I encourage people to stick with it unless you know what you're doing).

You can use the name... SMB://TCgen5.local where you replace TCgen5 with your name of TC... local is the default domain of the TC and does not change.

However the names are not so easy as... the IP address nor reliable. They are not at least not in Yosemite. The field can also be a problem if you are not clogged or wireless directly to the Treasury Board.

    6. ensure that IPv6 is set to link-local only in the computer. For example wireless open network, wireless and Advanced preferences / TCP/IP... and the difficulty of IPv6. link-local only. Do the same for the ethernet if you use it.

It is a lot more jiggery pokery, you can try, but the above is a good start... If you still find not reliable... don't be surprised.

You may need to do more work on the computer itself. for example, to reset the NVRAM/PRAM/SMC... helped some people. A clean installation of the operating system is also useful if you update installed.
