  You can upgrade the HDD on the Portege, but the HARD drive must be compatible!
  You have a 80 GB (4200 RPM) Slim PATA (1.8-inch) MK8007GAH) HARD drive.

  In my opinion, you can also use a 100 GB and 120 GB HDD with higher rotation. This should t be a problem.

  How to find the right part? I don't know the man. Either you contact the nearest Toshiba service and ask for help. They can check the Toshiba database and give you the exact reference, or you must disassemble check and portable all if fan has a sticker with part number.

  Please disassemble your laptop just if you know what you're doing. Before you start to do this unplug the AC adapter and remove the battery.
  According to my experience for the whole laptop fan replacement must be dismantled. Fan has small connector from the motherboard to the power supply and it must be disconnected from the motherboard.

  Be careful with this. Design of portable computers is very sensible and small mistake can result with parts broken as cover or plastic small operators.

  Please think twice before you start to remove the screw. :)

  Perhaps too late, but here's what works for me. Run the 'setup.exe' on any machine to decompress. No need to complete the installation, simply start it. Once you start manual installation it will unpack everything into something like C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\{2A7766D0...}. Download the entire folder in MDT. Also, I tried all sorts of variations/q /quiet/ - s, etc., but it never worked for me. Once I tried:

  msiexec /i "HP Hotkey Support.msi" /qn /norestart

  Andi that it worked. The package I've used is sp59346. Could also help you! ;-)

  I also recommend the HARD whole disk formatting and delete all partitions.

  To be honest, I'm a little confused. As much as I know with upgrade Vista DVD Toshiba delivered a CD with all the necessary drivers and tools and utilities. Obviously you didn't get it.

  According to the specifications of the laptop this notebook must be almost 2.5 years old and so old laptop was 100% not a part of the Express upgrade. Older laptops to a years but Portege R200 is perhaps older.

  Sorry, but I'm sure that this laptop model is not Vista supported at 100%. I also checked the download of Toshiba Canada page and even Vista drivers are not available.

  2. open the dialog box run by clicking on the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type %windir%, and then click OK.
  3. type hpoins*.dat in the search bar at top, if there is that no result rename the extention in old instead of dat. (e.g. hpoins1.old)
