SIM card slot

Hi my name is Bernard of Ghana. I just bought HP elitebook 8460p and there slot for sim card, but every time I insert the sim card in the slot, nothing don't watch in the system of the sim card is connected. I downloaded driver mobile from the site, but still he does ' t wor. I use win7 & 8. Please help me.

Hi, Bernard:

In addition to a card SIM, your PC must be equipped with a card WWAN mobile wireless broadband and the antenna system.

Most laptops are not standard with a WWAN card.  However, the antenna system can be present so all you would need to do is to order a WWAN card listed supported in the 8460p maintenance manual.

Is someone can you please tell me where the location for SIM card is that it is not mentioned in the manual?

    Hey,.

Usually, the SIM card slot is under the battery. So if you remove the battery, you should see a small slot where you can insert the SIM card.

  • Lappy SIM card slot

There is a slot for SIM card under lappy (ThinkPad L412) father. I have to unscrew and then remove a small cover that reveals the slot. I took my mother cell SIM and inserted into the lappy and it works. Unfortunately, nothing has happened... no "new hardware" detected... nothing. Why is this and what can it be used? I thought it would allow me to use Airtel internet in the lappy itself without the need of the cell (Nokia 6030, which came with a data cable and I don't think it can be connected to the computer).

This sim card slot only works when you have a wwan card, you do not.

    Hello:

Here is the link to the product for your laptop.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02522780

It does not come with mobile broadband built-in or capabilities which would be listed as well as wireless networking Bluetooth and 802.11 b/g/n specification.

There is a slot for SIM work for other models, which can have this feature, but a laptop card slot sim card must also have a WWAN card high speed and the separate antenna system.

All dv3-4xxx models use the same chassis of the laptop, that's why yours has a sim card slot, but it is not functional in your specific notebook.

  • BlackBerry Z10 no sound on speakers on Z10 more after a repair of SIM card slot.

SIM on my Z10 connector pins were broken. I went and replaced the SIM tray. Location SIM is fine now and the PINS are fixed and the SIM card is now detected properly.

But now there is NO sound on my speakers. So if someone calls the phone rings not IE no sound. However, I can talk to the other person and that he talks to me and we both can hear each other fine. Something seems to be wrong with the speakers now.

Also when I try to play the audio or video, there is NO sound. However if I plug the headphones the sound is there.

I checked the mod, the settings of all buttons, there is no problem here. The sound was perfect, until the technician fixed the location SIM.

Don't you think that he messed up the phone during the repair? Maybe everything in the re - assemble the phone he screwed the motherboard, or connect to speakers or something was wrong while welding the new SIM slot.

Everything is very much like before, except for the sound, which is gone after the repair. Would be a hard reset, reset factory etc. solve the problem? Or is it now a hardware problem that is the tech messed up during the repair of the SIM card slot?

    TIA

It was fixed to date . It's a fitting loose inside. He blew it all by setting the SIM card. He he redefined today i.e. the loose connection, that has been caused because of his mistake.

    now, the speakers are fine.

I wonder if anyone can help to where I can obtain a cardholder for sim replacement for my classic Blackberry which is folded. It does not close with or without the sim card. Sent email to Blackberry and the retailer still no joy. Help.  Thank you very much. C

I don't think that the parts are available for the classic. You must contact your carrier or your point of purchase for repair or replacement. If it's physical damage caused by you it may not be covered under warranty, however.

  • Portege Z10t - do not recogise the inserted sim card

    After noon

We recently bought a z10t, and after installing the update of the Sierra Aircard software, we are unable to detect any sim.

Unfortuantly us didn't test the sim card before the software.

If anyone else has had this problem, it was purchased from Telstra and we use a 4G sim from Telstra Sierra Wireless card to test.

    Thank you

    Aaron

    > Unfortuantly us didn't test the sim card before the software.
If I understand you well you are on the tests that you can do now is to install the original recovery image using recovery of HARD drive option or simply roll back OS to an earlier time before that you have installed this extra software and test SIM card slot functionality. I m sure this will work because the original recovery image contains tested drivers.

This third party software can change the communication settings and affect the functionality of SIM card slot. Toshiba does not support third party software so I don't think that Toshiba can help you with this.

  • Re: Portege R500-125 - Vodafone 3 G SIM card - what to do!

I recently bought a Portege R500 125. It is size excellent performance wise, wise, specs, weight, etc. But the most important feature for me was the 3G feature.

Opening the box and instructions (guia rapido) there was no mention about the card 3 G slot at all, I got a quick glance around the laptop and could not find shelter. Then, I wondered if I had indeed bought the laptop, looked good the box and he defeinitely said 3G.

So I came to the forum support and picked up a thread saying that the SIM card slot was behind the battery in the range Portege and Tecra. Hey presto, he was there. I thought, excellent put SIM card in and run the mobliink software. I started the mobilink software and he said Vodafone UK on the interface graph of the application user. Click on connect and it would start saying "connection" and then would just go back to "Ready".

Next step was to call the Toshiba support, they told me that I had to download the update of the Novatel Wireless of the download site VER 10.9 driver I think. In addition, they said that YOU SHOULD NOT USE THE MOBILINK SOFTWARE TO CONNECT! I was told to use the Vodafone VISTA software to connect. Thus obtained on the Vodafone site and downloaded the 9.3.0 software, also reviewed the read me document (do not usually do this and guess what he mentioned that it supports Novatel V10.9), so I was well on my way, I thought! Not yet!

Downloaded the Novatel Wireless driver and then install the Vodafone software. Pulled up the Vodafone software and he said "mobile deveice is detected" and that's all. It does not search for networks. So I thought lets try one more thing. I removed the SIM card from the laptop and put the SIM card in the original PC card. Once I put the PC data card in, it installed some drivers and then he said that it has been installed successfully. Then the times of crisis! , launcehed the Vodafone software and hey presto, we have a signal and a connection! SUCCESS.

Now for the acid test. Put the SIM card in the laptop launched the software, the first message on the screen - 'mobile device detected' then 'search network', then to the last 'Vodafone 3 G', you press the button connect and we had a connection.

It seemed a long drawn from the process, but arrived in the end. I think using the data card, it installs several structural factors that Vodafone and Portege software must have to operate successfully. I think it would be the same approach for the 3G SIM card Vodafone not only.
    _In summary_

    * Update of Novatel Wireless Drivers (V10.9) Portege downloads
To install the Vodafone Vodafone (V9.3.0) Vista driver. co.UK
    * Insert data with 3G SIM card (wait drivers are installed and message that says "drivers installed successfully")
Launch of software Vodafone and connect - wait for a successful connection
    * Remove the SIM and data card
    * Install the SIM card in the Portege (behind the battery, then lock it in position)
Launch of Vodafone software and connect (DO NOT USE MOBILINK)

    I hope this helps.

Wow. That s a great statement!

  • Portege R500 with 3G - Instructions for the insertion of the SIM card

I have a model PPR50E R500 which I think has built in 3G. Howevere I can't find documentation on how to insert a SIM card. One of the other model seems to suggest that the SIM card is inserted behind the keyboard. Can someone point me to some training documents please?

Unfortunately there is no documentation available. (Maybe in the user manual, but if there is nothing, then you won´t find anything)

Here are some instructions on how to swap the SIM card on a Portégé R400, so I think that since both machines are quite similar, that the guidelines would apply to the R500 too:

Perform the following steps to insert/remove the SIM card:

    1. close the machine OFF completely. Make sure that the POWER LED is not lit.
    2. remove the AC adapter, battery and all connected cables/devices.
    3. open the screen.
    4. remove the keyboard cover with a small screwdriver flat blade in the small hole on the edge of the cover and pulling gently out.
    5. remove the two screws that hold the keyboard and knock it gently over the keyboard. (Use a small cross-slot screwdriver to unscrew the two screws).
    6. to activate the keyboard down, take the upper end of the keyboard, pull gently upwards and place the keyboard with the keys down on the palmrest of your machine.

    * ATTENTION: *.

{color: #ff0000} + do not touch the keys on the keyboard to return back. Make sure that you hold the keyboard on both sides and ask gently down on the palmrest. +
+ The keyboard is connected to the machine with a flat cable. Avoid pulling the cable on the connector or damage! +
+ Avoid dropping objects (such as paper clips, etc.) inside the machine. A metallic object can cause a short circuit on the motherboard, which would cause serious damage to your machine. +
    {color}

    7. search the card slot SIM on the upper right corner of the machine.
    8. slide the locking mechanism of the SIM card with the fingernails or a small object slot to the left to unlock. (You can also use a small flat blade screwdriver)
9 pull gently until on the SIM card slot.
(10 a) Insertion: insert the card into the SIM card slot. The filings of the SIM card must show an upside.
    (b) removal: remove the SIM card from the slot

11 turn the slot down and block it by sliding the lock to the right.
12 insert the keyboard by placing the clips on the bottom of the keyboard into the grooves on the top of the palm rest. Rabat the keyboard gently downwards and fix it by screwing the screws into the holes. Make sure that no screws were dropped on the inside of the machine!
13 install the support of keyboard on its position and push down to fix its position.
14 attach the adapter sector, battery and all cables/devices.
15 enable you wireless device by pressing "FN + F8" when you work on Windows.

    * I must warn you, it s on your own risk and if you do not feel comfortable with the installation procedure can put the machine to an authorized Service provider, which can make the installation of the SIM card for you.*

    Good luck my friend :)
