The lock has been replaced by the site identity button, for details on use, see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Site+Identity+Button
If you want to add a padlock icon in the address bar, you can use the add-on locks- https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/padlock-icon/

I am running Windows 7 64-bit OS, and I currently version 12 of Firefox are installed (updated in May). I am building a browser vs. OS compatibility matrix, so I did a little 'Googling' today to see what Firefox versions are currently supported. When I opened Firefox to see if I was running the latest version, I got a prompt to upgrade to 14.0.1, yet the latest version is 17. This causes me some confusion. In addition, some sites offer Firefox 64-bit is not supported in WIndows and others say that it is in the Act supported. Could someone please confirm or deny this?
How many times have you run Firefox in the last 4 months? Remember that any postponement of this update? If this update has been previously downloaded, but never installed, maybe the installer wants to finish this work before check you for a newer version.
Mozilla does not have a 64-bit version of Firefox for Windows release. The 32-bit version works well on the 32-bit and 64-bit Windows versions.
There is a version of 64-bit third-party named Waterfox you could look in, but I suspect that any gain in the ability to use memory would be offset by reduced with modules compatibility...

Since I have updated to the latest version of Firefox a few days every time I click on a link, or in a dialog (like this one) or try to pin something to Pinterest, a reading of google window opens. I have no new pluggi-ns and no Add-ons. I also scanned my cpu for viruses and none were found. What is originally this issue that drives me crazy, and how can it be solved?
To eliminate if it is a corrupt add on or plugin, please check if it happens in a new profile with just the pintrist on. This will tell you if it's a combination. Use the Profile Manager to create and delete profiles Firefox

I've upgraded to the latest version of Firefox, but I always get a message on my home page that says "you are not on the latest version of Firefox. Update today to get the best of the Web! »
You can see this message under the Google search box on www.google.com/firefox which is the old default Firefox homepage. It seems that this page is no longer maintained by Google. You seem to have the latest version of Firefox.
If you want as the Google search page as homepage, change your homepage to Subject: House (a new version of the old homepage Google/Firefox update is now integrated into Firefox).

Why do not upgrade Add-ons to work on the latest version of Firefox?
Have all these add-ons does not make much sense if you get a "not compatible with the latest version of Firefox. Of course, I bought an s4 to run the older versions. Firefox seems to have the mentality google alittle on themselves. Without the Add - ons Firefox is just another search engine. Please make it compatible.
Modules are upgraded by the creator. It is their responsibility to keep their app/add-on up-to-date and functional with the current Firefox browser.

I have a Mac G5 with OS 11.4.11. In order for me to upgrade to the latest version of Firefox, I have to install a new system. If I install a new system, I need to install new programs. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, GoLive and other CS programs, PowerPoint, QuarkXpress, and many others. I can't afford to upgrade. I like good Firefox but what I am, I'm supposed to do?
Firefox 4 and later requires a Mac with a processor Intel and OS X 10.6 (16 Firefox works on OS X 10.5).
For an unofficial ESR of 17.0 Firefox compatible version (TenFourFox) which works on Mac PowerPC with OS X 10.4.11 or OS X 10.5.8, you can consult:

I have to upgrade to the latest version of Firefox?
Do I lot to the latest version of Firefox? I get a message that says that the version I use is not secure. See the troubleshooting information. I already asked this question, but got this message: thank you! Your question will appear on the site as soon as you confirm your email address. You should receive an email shortly with a link to confirm. This is the link I was taken in. Thanks for your help!
Yes, you really need to upgrade to the latest version if you want safety last corrections to be applied. Now, more secure versions (supported by Mozilla) are 6.0.2 and 3.6.22.
If you use 4.0, 4.0.1 5.0 or 5.0.1 you should immediately upgrade to 6 (recommended) or downgrade to 3.6.22. These versions have security problems and is more supported by the Mozilla security patches. People who use these versions are open to attacks.
