  • Increase the size of the hard disk on the Image of VI

    Hello

Is anyway to increase the size of the HD on an image that I have already downloaded on my server ESXi (3.5)? I tried to power on to the bottom of the image, and change the size of the hard drive under settings, but this makes no difference.

I am familiar with how to change the size of HD on VMWare Workstation images. It is similar to this or is there an easier way to do it?

This image is an application server and I foolishly deleted the original of my laptop, so it's the only copy I have. So is there a way I can increase the size of HD on this image easily?

    Thank you.

You have a backup of the virtual machine that you can go back?  It looks like something I messed up with the partitions during the expansion.

I would try attaching the C drive of this virtual machine to another virtual machine and it turn on.  See if you can use diskpart to extend the volume or if he thinks he is already extended.

For future use, with Windows Server 2008, you do not need assistance VM or even need to power off the virtual machine itself to develop the hard drive.  You can simply extend the space using the VI Client, and Windows Server 2008 has features to extend hard drive built in.  Goto, right-click Disk Management and select Rescan disks to see the new size of the drive.  Then right-click on the current partition and select "Extend Volume" and a short wizard guides you through the rest.  You can do it without interruption.

  • How to change Pavilion DV2000 hard drive? What brand/size of the hard disk works?

I have a Pavilion dv2000 I bought in 2006 (waaay out of warranty).

My current (original) hard drive is completely filled. It is 80 GB. Fujitsu SATA

I tried to upgrade the hard drive me. I bought a Western Digital SATA 250 GB hard drive is cloning kit.
The kit seemed to do what he was supposed to, but when it was time to put the new drive in, I ran into problems.

Do not match the connectors on the ends upwards. Metal "teeth - like ' connector end face on the new hard drive instead of to the bottom." (I couldn't find another way to navigate the hard drive cradle to get the connectors to face down so that they connect with the rest of the computer.

Predictable when I tried to boot up the laptop, it wouldn't read the new hard drive. So I put the old hard drive in and that's what I use now as I type.
The old hard drive did not fit into the cloning kit which makes me think that this hard drive configuration is obsolete and this laptop can not be upgraded at all, which sucks considering how much $$$ I've spent on this equiptment upgrade...

I can't find info on internal hard disk of purchases on the HP website. Anyone know what new hard drive will work in this old laptop?

    Thank you for helping!

I found the answer. It turns out that my computer is so old that about a year after I bought it, HP changed the configuration of HDD on their laptops all line of Pavilion in the future. The HD config in my laptop is now part of a line that was interrupted for more than 2 years. This old line goes only up to into space at 120 GB if you can find an old still sold online. Retailers do not sell them more.

And I can't use the clone HD product that I bought since my hard drive is obsolete and does not.

So I'm pretty much stuck with what I have now. It's not worth the hassle. I'm going to do with this for a year (with an external hard drive), and then get a new machine.

    Please help guys!

  • Expand the size of the hard disk to the virtual computer

My current VM HD size is 8 GB.

I tried to to 12 GB, but got the message: these settings cannot be changed wile has a virtual machine snapshot.  To make these changes, first delete all snapshots.

With Windows turned off, I went Virtual Machine in the menu bar, chose Snapshots in the menu drop down and deleted the Snapshot, I had.

When I went again to increase to 12 GB, I got the same message again: these settings cannot be changed wile has a virtual machine snapshot.  To make these changes, first delete all snapshots.

Return to snapshots; No Snapshots in the list, only the button to take a snapshot, but I can't always change the size of the disk.

I'm missing something here.  How can I increase the size of the HD 12 GB VM?

    Thank you very much

Meanwhile, I reason to assume that the text listing the string you gave me can be used in the terminal?

    Yes.

    LS - lAF Users/jiruifu/Documents/Virtual Machines.localized/Windows XP Home Edition.vmwarevm

Spaces are used to separate arguments (then ls thought you to put it on a number of different files, which none exist). Or the other of the following should work:

    ls -lAF "/Users/jiruifu/Documents/Virtual Machines.localized/Windows XP Home Edition.vmwarevm"
    ls -lAF /Users/jiruifu/Documents/Virtual\ Machines.localized/Windows\ XP\ Home\ Edition.vmwarevm

The two methods to escape spaces for ls include the path. A practical thing to remember is that if you drag and drop a file into a Terminal window, it will automatically enter the path with escape sequence for you.

  • Change the size of the HARD disk volume

I bought this computer so that I could use the highest GB because I have a lot of iTunes content, unfortunately because my disks are divided into drive(298GB) (Windows) C and D (Data) by car (297 GB) who completed the drive C (Windows) within 15 GB of free space, that I wanted to transfer on drive D (data) in order to release the C drive again However I don't know how I can do this and am not entirely sure how drive C as filled whereas on my laptop more small, I have a greater amount of free space, even if I have a smaller capacity of the C drive?

    Someone HELP Please

The D partition is empty at the moment?

Please don t make things complicated. You can use the entire capacity of HDD for data backup. With other words, you can use the free space on both partitions.
If you have a lot of things go to the D partition, make new folder, something like music archive and move all the stuff from C to this folder.

Later you can make settings in your iTunes to access these archives.

If I've misunderstood something sorry and next time try to explain the opposite situation.

  • The recovery disk is sensitive to the size of the hard drive?

    Hello

I just bought my new laptop Satellite.

I have owned one of these puppies before and so I know that the Toshiba recovery disc is a ghost image.

What I did is erased the hard drive clean because it's a piece of the circuit city showroom and t couldn't trust what was out there.

I put Ubuntu on the laptop. I want to put Vista on a VM.

As you can imagine, the virtual machine would have much less space than the actual size of the hard drive (200 GB) but of course, large enough to accommodate the installation of vista and all the goodies of Toshiba.

With this all said, the image will be cough, hanging and allows me not to install during installation of the ghost due to the different size image in space? So say the laptops hard drive space, it is 200 GB, but I only allocated 50 GB virtual hard disk.

Now I don't have a version of the class my program of schools Microsoft vista legitimate business, but I would use the home premium came with the laptop and use that Toshiba had provided me.

Then, going to work, or it will not?

    Thank you for your comments.

    > I wonder what the disc labeled "Toshiba recovery disk' which is come with my new laptop that I just bought actually is then.
Don t confuse boyfriend new Toshiba with Vista OS notebooks are equipped with HARD drive recovery option. But it also contains an option to create a recovery DVD in case the HARD disk will fail.

If you buy an old series laptop with Win XP, then it might be possible that you don t have the option to drive HARD recovery, but instead, you've got a recovery disk.

As you said above; the recovery disk contains an image (I doubt it s a ghost still image) that contains an operating system Windows, Toshiba drivers, tools and additional software.

    Good bye

  • Satellite Pro 4280 - what is the size of the HARD drive?

I just bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro 4280. According to the manual, it should have a 6.0 GB HDD but in my computer it is shown as having only a 1.34 GB capacity.

PS I formatted the disk to remove the former owner data and operating system and you have installed Windows 98SE

    [Edited by: admin]

    Hello

Satellite Pro 428Xcdt was certainly delivered with 6 GB HARD drive.
Are you sure that you have checked the size of the HARD drive correctly?

I guess the 1.34 GB is a free space on the HARD disk.

  • Can not read the HARD disk capacity properly after the upgrade on my Satellite A135-S2276

I have a Satellite A135-S2276 and I recently updated my 80 gig HDD with a 320 GB HARD drive and drive C shows only 72 GB of available not the 300 - ish that it should have. I did some research and it seems that it should be there, perhaps simply not visible? Update the BIOS?

    Any suggetions?

    Thank you!

    Hello

I think that the A135-S2276 supports SATA HDD so I doubt that the issue of the LBA48bit could be the reason.

I found the details here on the Toshiba page we:
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/support/JSP/modelContent.jsp?CT=DL&OS=&category=&MOID=1596141& rpn = PSAD6U & modelFilter = A135-S2276 & SelCategorie = 3 & selFamily = 1073768663

In your case, I would recommend formatting the disk HARD whole again.
In addition, you should check the size of the HARD drive in the BIOS.

Generally, if the HARD drive has been recognised in the BIOS correctly then the OS should see all 320GB too.

  • Why the hard disk is divided into partitions of two data (C:Vista and E: Data)?

I just started a new A200-1V0 and found that disk space is divided into two partitions of sizes equal 'C:Vista' and ' E: Data "(and a small one EISA).

WHY? What is the logic and purpose? It's not even as if the C:Vista partition is smaller and intended only to the tricks of the 'system' as the root 'Users' (user Documents) is on it also.

This is the default for Vista (my first use of it), if not, who said that Toshiba could do this without asking me?

How can I move the root 'Users' in Vista (in the data partition) - if I have two partitions that I might as well use it?

I can resize partitions in Vista without a utility 3 rd-party (or a complete backup/restore)?

    Thank you

    Hello just YOU

Please don't be offended because there is no reason for this. You bought the new product with the factory settings. Toshiba and other hardware manufacturer do not know every customer personally and, unfortunately, it was not possible to ask YOU how to set up YOUR laptop.

Because of this, there is a recovery of product support that allows to configure the HARD disk according to your wishes and needs.

Please use this DVD and install OS how you want it to be. What recovery procedure starts, you will see CONFIGURATION option on the right side. Click on it and choose the right option.

Reinstall the OS and enjoy your life. Really, I don't have the time to write on the floors of two partitions, because this is basic stuff and you probably don't want to waste your time to read this.

    Bye and good luck!

  • Upgrade the hard disk on Tecra M9 will void the warranty?

    Hello

I want to upgrade the hard drive on a Tecra M9 120 GB to a 200 GB Hitachi Travelstar 7K 200 hard drive SATA 3 GB/s. The coverage still apply for the Tecra after this upgrade?

    Kind regards

    charlieMOGUL

Upgrading the HARD drive would not affect the validity of the guarantee.

But I'm not sure on the size 200 GB HARD drive the BIOS supports a HARD drive size limitation and not all dimensions are supported. If the HARD disk is too big, the BIOS would not recognize the new HARD disc.

The problem is that Toshiba doesn't provide any information on HARD drive sizes possible.
I think that you should just look at it

If you have tested this HARD drive, please report it here in the forum I m very interesting if the 200 GB would run properly.

    Good bye
