Thank you!

Hi Christophe,

This problem may occur due to the infection by the virus or because of conflicts between the third-party applications.

Have you done with the latest changes on the computer before this problem.

Method 1:
I suggest you run an antivirus scan using the Microsoft Safety Scanner to confirm that your computer is free from any infection by the virus. Please find the link below.

http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note:

(1) data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

(2) the Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

The Microsoft Safety Scanner is not a replacement for the use of antivirus software that offers continuous protection.

Method 2:
If the problem persists, I suggest to start the computer in safe mode and check if the problem occurs or not. If the problem does not occur in mode safe run clean boot and check if it helps.

Step 1:
I suggest you to return the item and check if it helps.

Start settings for Windows (including safe mode)
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows-8/Windows-startup-settings-including-safe-mode

Step 2:
If the issue occur not in Mode safe run clean boot and check.

Affecting the system in a clean boot state will help you determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

How to perform a clean boot for a problem in Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, follow the "How to reset the computer to start as usual after a clean boot troubleshooting" section in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

Hope this information helps. Answer the post with an up-to-date issue report to help you further.

McAfee should have disabled Windows Defender.  If not, or if you did turn back on, you must turn it off.  http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/turn-Windows-Defender-on-or-off   Windows Defender cannot be uninstalled from the Vista OS, but can be disabled to avoid conflict with other programs.

You will probably need to uninstall Flash and reinstall it: http://www.adobe.com/support/flashplayer/

I don't really like to make a negative comment on an anti-malware program, but McAfee has a reputation for sometimes bogged down operating systems.  If your problem persists, you will need to uninstall McAfee (to include using the McAfee removal tool) and see if that has any impact on your computer problems.  If there is an improvement, you may consider trying another program BC

I have an error message which disappear from my Windows 7. It is called "GfxUi.exe - bad Image" and said that C:/Windows/System32/atiu9p64.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Then it asks me to resintall it but there is no option for this. It is more of a thing of substance; I can still run programs and work, but the error message does not disappear.

Need help, please someone. Thank you

    Hello

    1. have you made changes on the computer before this problem?

    2. when exactly this error occurs?

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

Run Microsoft Safety Scanner and check if it helps.

    Microsoft safety scanner: http://www.microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. During these 10 days, it will remove all the files infected by the virus and records. I suggest you create a backup of your data, and then install Microsoft Safety Scanner.

    Method 2:

Put your computer in a clean boot state to identify the application at the root of this problem.

Place your computer in a clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. If so, you need to maybe contact the manufacturer of the program for updates or uninstall and reinstall the program.

See the following article in the Microsoft KB for more information on how to solve a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to set the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above article.

    Hope the information is useful.

    Hi Gary,.

It seems that Microsoft Security Essentials has corrupted on your computer. You can uninstall and reinstall the program to check the issue.

Computer Dell laptop of my husband has a virus that wants you to install a fake security program. I tried to fix it. OOPS. I tried to choose an earlier date to restore your computer to and I got zapped, crashed and burned. Error is now: winlogon.exe - bad image then the msgina.dll login user interface DLL failed to load, contact admin to replace the dll or restore the original dll. I don't have a boot cd. Is there a way of "back door" to get his computer works again?

As you know now, do a restore of the system on a severely infected machine is not a good thing. Better to save the data and do a clean installation of Windows. You can try to do it yourself, but based on your post, which I would not recommend it. I don't mean to hurt your feelings, just to be practical. It would be better to take the machine to a competent local tech (not a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad of the place).

If you really want to try it yourself, here's what you need to do:

    1. start the computer with Linux Livecd such as Knoppix. You are using Linux, copy the data files on an external hard drive.
    2. install Windows using the XP Dell installation CD.
    3. install all the drivers for Dell. Use the Dell Resource CD or get the drivers from the Dell advance website.
    4. switch to XP Service Pack 3 and do all the Windows updates.
    5. install a good antivirus - NOD32 (commercial), Avast or Avira (both have free versions).
    6. install all other desired programs, updated if necessary (especially if you have MS Office).
    7. analyze data saved with the antivirus before you copy it to the new clean install. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!
