Skype on Pavilion DV7 Vista and Win7 problem

I have problems with Skype 5.1 - when I try to open it a message appears 'Skype has stopped working, check online for a solution and close the program, etc.'. Nothing is displayed when clicked. I tried searching for virus & update drivers without success. My DV7 was initially running Vista so I decided to do a new install of Windows 7. To my surprise, the problem with Skype persisted, so I can only assume it is hardware partner. I've updated the Bios without success.

I found a partial solution - start Skype in Win 98 / ME compatibility mode. Skype opens but the video & audio quality is poor. I have Skype installed on 2 desktops with Vista & Win 7 & it works perfectly, so the fault must lie with my HP laptop. Any help would be appreciated.

Update: if I disable video IDT Audio Device Codec drivers Skype works well (in Win98 / ME compatibility mode) without sound. This suggests that the audio drivers are the cause of the problem - there are several posts on this topic. I tried to install an older driver (6.10.6225.0 instead of 6,10 6276.0) but the program crashes still after a few minutes on a call for the use of the CPU to 85-90%. My machine is the DV7-2030ea with a processor AMD Turion 2.2 GHz, 3 GB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500/5100 graphics & AMD HD Audio. Someone else had this problem?

Tried Skype 5.2 - reluctant to install & video out does not work. Decided to return to 3.6 (360216). Only works under Win 98 / Me compatibility, but No problem with the gel etc even mode after 30 minutes. Anyone with problems above with DV7-2030ea or similar machine spec, I would say:

(1) use Skype 3.6 instead of a newer version.

(2) run in Win98 / Me compatibility mode.

(3) if the problem persists, replace IDT HD Audio Codec drivers with those of Microsoft.

    Hello

I have 3 computers with XP, Vista and Win7.

I wonder if computers laptops XP and Vista (sata) will be able to get the most out of the SSD HDD?
The sine qua non of not losing a lot of performance, is that the bios ahci mode available for hard disk?
    Is there something else?
Some older computers, laptops and desktops may not use a SSD HDD?

I have an external SATA enclosure for a disk hard 2.5 "regular who was not particularly to adapt to an SSD HDD. It fit? I'm wanting to copy the contents of all of the hard drive to the hard drives(xp,vista,win7) on the new discs, including the hidden partition which has the OS on it with something like Norton ghost or acronis true image software. Are there suggestions which we use, and which cable (what is a sata to usb cable?) do I need for the migration if I use a laptop computer to copy these disks?

Does anyone have any suggestions of what SSD to use? I'm looking for a 120gig SATA 3 with faster speeds.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

3 SSD have more fast read and write times when they are installed in PCs that use the latest SATA 3 interface. You may be able to search online by using your favorite search engine to know the different manufacturers.

SATA cables would be also faster to transfer the data.

  • HP Pavilion dv7-6050ec and 199 MB partition

    Hello guys,.

I would ask (that I was not happy with the touch of search here) about 199 MB large partition. I just brought my new HP Pavilion dv7-6050ec laptop, receive Windows 7 Home Premium pre-installed and there 4 partitions: 199 MB system. C: 450 GB; Recovery: 15,45 GB; HP_Tools: 103 MB.  I would like to divide the C: partition, but as I have already 4 NTFS partition I'm pretty sure that Windows doesn't let me do (as they will push only me to use max 4 NTFS partitions). So my question is:

Can I remove first 199 MB SYSTEM partition? I'll be able to use HP Recovery (in the future) via F11 on reboot, when I delete this partition? Thanks for any response.

You don't have a backup of the HP_Tools partition. When you create the recovery disks, disturbances restore factory settings of these disks, including the HP_Tools partition, the partition recovery etc...

If you have problems to save the recovery partition, I would create the recovery disks. Then, you don't have to anything other than your backup data...

  • Tecra S10 - 64 bit of Vista and Win7 64 bit driver question

    Hello

I own a Tecra S10 and using Vista 64-bit operating system.
Unfortunately Toshiba isn't supporting this version of the OS, because pilots proposed must be taken on different products that use the same hardware.

Is anyone know wether Toshiba will start sharing the drivers for Vista 64 bit soon and whats on Win7?

I think that Vista 64-bit drivers will run under Win7, but * when they officially released drivers for 64 bit Vista or Win7?

    Any info would be interesting.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello!

Normally it comes out drivers * after the release of the operating system. This means you have to wait a few months more I think
But you think contacting Toshiba? Guys, you should know better than us users here. If you write an email or call, it takes only a few minutes!

In addition, you should try the Vista 64 bit drivers. Most of them also works under Windows 7.
    And it s worth a try! ;)

  • HP Pavilion dv7 second HDD installation problem

    Hello

I recently bought an internal WD7500BPVX 750 GB SATA HDD compatible with my HP Pavilion dv7 - 2030eV to be used as a second hard drive, since I already have a 250 GB HARD drive on the laptop. I also bought a SATA cable which I think is compatible and a caddy for the disc. When I connected the SATA cable and pressed the Start button the laptop powered upwards for about a second and then stop.  I disconnected the SATA cable and left only 250GB driver connected. When I turned on again your laptop booted normally. Once I tried to connect the new HARD drive again the same thing happened. Any ideas what might be happening? I checked two times for parts compatibility before you buy, but I can't rule out it as a cause.

Thank you all in advance for your help.

This series does not start with two different hard disks. If you want a second hard drive, you need the same 250 GB drive as the original to make it work.

  • VB6 with DAQmx compatibility with Microsoft Vista and Win7?

    Hello

I'm trying to figure out how what are my options for running my VB6 applications that use the API C of NOR-DAQmx with Vista or Win7.

I have certain applications that we have maintained in VB6 (with Measurement Studio 6).  I programmed the software for traditional OR-DAQ hardware originally.  I suppose that I used for about 10 years or more.  About 2 years ago or if we needed to use our software with hardware recent DaqMX I've been able to use the API C OR-DAQmx for Visual Basic 6.0.  My application really support two hardware platforms simultaneously.  The person responsible for the project wanted to have 1 single application managed the two platforms (daqmx and inheritance).  So far, it's all great.

If anyone knows what are my options if I want to use Windows Vista or Windows 7.  We are currently running this app on Windows XP.  I'm ready to upgrade my software if necessary although I have to spend to VB.net and Measurement Studio 7.1 (I currently have).  But if we were to happen tomorrow is there any compatilibility. I read that the traditional / legacy NOR-DAQ is not supported in Vista (Win7).  I googled and found there was a beta version which seemed to weakly in support of the legacy but did not support USB devices which is what I have (6020e (inheritance), SCXI (daqmx), 6259 (daqmx).)  I've heard that Windows 7 will have a virtualization system for XP applications that do not work natively under Win7, but for some reason, I doubt that the drivers and hardware will be run this way.

Also, should there be differences between Vista and 7? I'm an XP user and computers I support many XP so I really have no experience with Vista.  I plan to install the Windows 7 RC to try some of this stuff.

    Thank you, David

Use of our released traditional DAQ drivers is not supported on Vista systems, even running in virtual Windows XP mode. The driver works at a lower level which can emulate a virtual mode.

However, we have a public beta version for a traditional DAQ driver that works for Vista. You can read about this version beta here

Something about 2 PC is corrupt.  For some programs when I try to launch Windows install start to a different program.  Up to 3 times cancel can be reequired before the start of the program you want.  This happens on Vista and Windows 7

Where can I look for to get rid of this?

    Hello

    1. you remember to make changes to the computer before this problem?

    Step 1:

You can read the following article and try the Fixit to solve the problem.

When you run an .exe on a Windows Vista-based or Windows 7 computer file, the file may start another program

    Step 2:

There is a problem with the file association. Check the article mentioned and try the steps outlined in the article.

Change the programs that Windows uses by default

You can see the following article for Windows 7.

    Change defaults to programsWindows

    Step 3:

You can also check the following link and try to download the Microsoft Safety Scanner and perform a full scan on your computer and check.

  • Just bought Wndows Vista and having problems with the port for Palm 125

I just bought a Windows Vista-based computer and have problems with getting my 125 Palm to synchronize with the desktop computer.  I get an error message saying: "No available Com1" what should I do?

    Thank you

    Frustrated

Don't ask me the procedures step by step that I did, but I finally success!  I uninstalled Palm Desktop and started from scratch.  I unplugged the Hot Sync cradle by the USB port, then I installed Palm Desktop from my drive and then update Palm Desktop on the Palm for Palm M125 site.  It still does not, I manually added a port and manually changed to COM1.  I then pressed the Hot Sync button and in the Device Manager, a folder has become available "device named" with Palm Desktop as a subfolder.  It is always active, I updated my computer for Palm USB driver.  Miraculously it worked.  Thanks for your help, but as usual everything it needed, it was patience and trial and error to solve the problem, since it does not seem to be a quick fix related this topic.

  • Pavilion dv7-6140eo: device Bluetooth problem

    Hello.

    I can't start bluetooth on my Pavilion dv7-6140eo with W7 (32 bit)

Device Manager do not appear, only the unknown device.

I was trying to upgrade the driver of all HP possible, but always the same.

Can you help me with that?

    Fr.

    Andy

    Hi, Philippe:

What wireless network card model is has your model?

Who determines what bluetooth driver you are installing.

This is probably the driver that you need for the unknown device:

This will install HP 3D DriveGuard, which offers protection for internal laptop disk drive if the computer accidentally falls or suddenly hits another object. This package is available on mobile phones supported with supported operating systems.

    File name: sp53462.exe

  • Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Racing Wheel - Vista and Win7 compatibility

I just bought a good condition Sidewinder Precision Racing Wheel from eBay. I didn't know he was as old as it is and I wanted to know if drivers exist that will offer all the features for the wheel. I saw messages in various forums of 2007 saying that no driver is for Vista which will offer all the features. Posts here I have a problem with the default Vista driver who has the throttle to 100% all the time - is not ideal.

Having just bought a Dell computer with a free upgrade to Win7, I just saw this
    http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/Details.aspx?type=Hardware&p=Microsoft%20SideWinder%20Force%20Feedback%20Wheel%20Game%20Controller&v=Microsoft&uid=A16-00041&pf=0&pi=9&c=Mice%2C%20Keyboards%20%26%20Input%20Devices&sc=Game%20Controllers&os=32-bit
say that this material is taken in charge, but when you follow the link to the software in is not what needs to be downloaded. It say that it is supported under Win7 makes me hope that driver for Vista situation has been resolved, but I see no mention of those on the web.

  • Pavilion dv7 1245 dx boot problem

    Hey everybody,

Just FYI, I have a dv7-1245dx with a VISTA OS and hard drive of 320 GB.

I was unable to boot my dv7 for about a week when (I think) the hard drive crashed while the computer is running. I ran the disk hard main self test and received 301, 303 and 305 errors but there always going the SMART control - so the hard drive is shot. System memory is 100%.

I want to be sure that there nothing else wrong with it before you buy a new hard drive. I tried from a disk external drive with Windows XP is already installed, but just at the point where it begins to show the loading Windows screen, he flashes a BSOD and restarts. Is there anything else I can do to diagnose what is wrong or it's probably just the hard drive?

Also, what are the brands of hard drive are compatible with the dv7?

    Thank you.

    Hello

The errors you mention in your message, it seems the hard drive failed - this is by far the most likely, although it may be related to other problems, for example the Sata controller on the motherboard, hard drive replacement is definitely the best place to start.

An example of the type of HARD drive that fits your laptop is on the link below.

    Hard drive 320 GB

A test of futher you can try to check your laptop is to create a bootable Ubuntu CD.  You can run this OS directly from the CD (that is, there is no need to install on the HARD disk).  The guide and the download is on the following link.

    http://www.Ubuntu.com/download/Ubuntu/download

Although the operating system running from a CD will be slow, it should show if everything works (apart from the HARD drive).

    Kind regards

  • Create DVD of Vista and Win7

I have hundreds of hours of DVDs created with creation of Windows Vista DVD. When I tried to open the projects on Windows 7, I got the error message that the file was not compatible. I searched the forum for an answer, and the best I've seen is to save all projects in the form of AVI files and redo. This isn't a very good option, because all projects DVD Vista have custom menus, etc. Is there a version of Win7 DVD creation that will load the projects of Vista?
