Slow Foglight Console
Hello
The Foglight Management Server Console (5.6.4) is horribly slow and we checked in the journals of resolution. We found that he was using a very high memory and we ran the Script (for high Mem in the Script Console), but it did not work. The console still isn't slow.
Is there a temporary fix for this problem?
Kind regards
Guenoun.
Hello
I highly recommend this opening with support as soon as POSSIBLE, there are many things that can be done to investigate and twist Foglight.
Your environment is not huge and on a server with so many hearts (16 if I read) Foglight should have very good performance.
In some cases allocate less memory (8 GB) to Foglight works even better memory overuse causes like GC.
A typical investiation with support will include generating support bundle where we can check the performance of the server and the DB connectivity and that the server settings and DB connectivity can be twisted. Since Foglight dashboards get information from the database, the performance of the DB are therefore very important.
There are some improvements in ease of use that can be made, as the default time of 1 hour so Foglight should get less data from the database, ensuring that the first dashboard is not one that gets a ton of data in the initial newspaper is so fast as well as using the services to make sure that when you look at Java/DB/VM you try not to get the data for all if you only want to see a subset of the environment.
Another advantage to contact our assistance is their knowledge in plots of performance, there may be some specific dashboards that have performance issues that have been resolved and support will in this regard.

Agent properties is not displayed in Foglight Console
Hi all..
We are facing some problems with the dashboard properties Agent because he receives any shown in the Console...

Support is a good bet here, I have seen broswer related questions, I saw the version of browser causing problems.
I've also seen a few cases where it was just a problem of refresh and all you had to do was drag the separator to the left or the right, and then the screen updated / redesigned correctly (it is interesting to try to drag the separator to the left or right and see if it works).

Integrate vFoglight Pro with Foglight
We have deployed in our environment Foglight. We recently bought Foglight and ti want to integrate this into the Foglight console. Are there guides to installation on how to perform this task?
Thank you!
-MikeHi mhurst120,
I'm sure you can simply import the new Pro vFoglight license in and features that are part of the pro version should be unlocked but you may have to restart the Foglight management service.
What version do you currently use? An upgrade might be available that you can then point to the new license file.

Copy the settings of Notification E-mail off Foglight v5.5.8:
Hello
I am currently looking to upgrade my system Foglight V5.5.5 at V5.5.8: to take advantage of new alarms set up in overall Administration. A step that would preserve the time for the upgrade is the ability to configure all the settings of the alarm on my Foglight Test Server and move the table to the Production. I heard that there is a cartridge PSO there that can do it, but I was wondering if there is another way to achieve this. Anyone sings it before?

You can export rules/registry variables once you're done set them up in your test environment. Please make sure that your test and production environment, both are compatible Foglight version. You can use the JMX Foglight console as well for rules/registry variables.

Failed to configure a host control in Foglight 5.6.4
Hi all
in one of our monitoring hosts, we have installed the Fglam and the host is part of the Foglight Console but when we tried to configure agents Infrastructure for this host, it does not collect data, and he said, "the host is not configured to track".
I've highlighted the host.
Please help us on this issue.
Thanks & best regards,
Guenoun
What version of the cartridge a are you running?
I see the last (5.6.7) version was compatible with FMS 5.6.3 or higher
http://eDOCS.quest.com/Foglight/567/files/CartridgeForInfrastructure_567_ReleaseNotes.html
I recommend opening with support, you run a windowsagent on a local fglam, followed by his own machine, which is usually as easy as it gets, there may be something in the environment that is not letting the data collection agent.

Removal of the dashboards in Foglight 5.6.4
Hi all
We need some dashboards should be deleted in the Foglight Console. When we tried to delete directly, it still takes too long to open the dashboard and also we have tried to 'Definitions' of the Configuration but no effect.
Are there commands to remove the dashboard completely from the command prompt?
Please share us articles or links that can help us...
Thank you best regards &,.
Guenoun
Gokuinath,
I guess you are not able to implement the action panel, then click on remove access, correct?
In addition, you are connected to foglight administrator with privileges to developer cartridge, correct?
I find the 68795 knowledge article that describes how to remove a dashboard of users by exporting a dashboard users, manipulate the exported information and then re-import a dashboard of users based on the information that is exported.
Note: I recommend that you confirm with Dell support that the recommended steps will work in your environment to meet your needs.

Hello
Can we control PHP applications using the foglight console. If possible, please suggest me some links.
Kind regards

Foglight can watch .NET applications, you can see more information and list of features here
http://www.quest.com/Foglight-for-net/
You can see a complete list of what foglight can monitor here
http://www.quest.com/Foglight/ remember that we can extend the surveillance with customizations and scripts.
With monitoring web applications we can do application relatively traffic web monitoring or just general to the web server, you can get more info and list of features here http://www.quest.com/foglight-end-user/
I hope this helps.

Hello
When you remove the monitoring server Foglight do we need to stop the service of fglam from the server or remove only foglight console sufficient?
Thank you
Vicky
A single fglam can follow several hosts so stop the agent and remove it from the console should be sufficient. Don't forget that you can clean the host from the data model.
There is additional information in this discussion
If you run former agents who monitor the machine, they are on and monitoring of the BONES was the only thing running follow this article support to successfully delete the object host and fglam.
I hope this helps.

Is it possible to limit which can connect? I don't think that this really is a problem, but I would ask at the thought. Right now, I have a group named VMware Admins who are assigned to roles, if during this announcement, members of the group connection they get a dashboard. If it is a member of the LDAP account is created, but the user is unable to connect until the administrator grants permission. I'd rather see a refused connection if possible?
Hello tkutil,
If the user does not have any assigned role/s then you will see an error message (which I think you did already). If the user cannot do any activity in Foglight console until the administrator affects her role/s. I don't know if she should necessarily reject a connection because as long as the user provides correct credentials (name and password), it is a valid connection.
Hope that helps.

Custom Agent monitoring-policy confusion
Hello
I am facing a problem with a custom field I added to my custom Agent's primary EPA. The LiveSet agent allows you to monitor the LiveSet (memory used after a full gc) of our application servers and the added field monitors allows us to add additional servers to monitor for this specific host.
The field is not appear however in change them the properties of some agents (even after deactiving a reinstall of the agent and reapply the surveillance strategy.) (XML).
I added via the Script Agent Builder agent and imported the surveillance strategy. XML for this agent.
d76917f8-61e1-46fd-ba18-7cd5e9da1289 SPI LiveSet Foglight4-XML default template ab2d11d8-d31b-4d9b-b5f2-a8f9b44c1f41 Platforms_supported WinNT4.0 Windows2000 Windows2003 WindowsXP Linux2.4 Linux2.6 AIX4.3 AIX5.1 AIX5.2 AIX5.3 SunOS5.8 SunOS5.9 SunOS5.10 HP-UXB.11 agentName Collector cmdLine LiveSet.sh purgeDays 180 purgeTime Days sample_freq 60 monitors localhost:7191 localhost:7192 I had some difficulty in setting this up, so I repeatedly tested, deployed and applied monitoring - strategie.xml for this agent, that may have caused the configuration in order to be a little confused. But in the end, the script is able to pick up the field as an environment variable and to monitor the appropriate servers, at least on agents that allow to edit the field in the section change the properties of the FogLight Console.
An export of the configuration show that there are 3 separate persistable-config-model elements with different config-id for agent LiveSet. Two of them are missing from the added field monitors . I think that there should be only one entry in the configuration, and this is the origin of the problem for some deployed agents.
I tried to delete configurations incriminated through a groovy script
cs=server['ConfigService']models=cs.getConfigs('SPI', 'LiveSet') a=[]for (model in models) if (model.getId() == 'e326abb9-95e6-459c-a179-293fe559fa70' || model.getId() == '92e879a1-21fa-4713-8f0c-c481ec997feb') cs.removeConfig(model) models=cs.getConfigs('SPI', 'LiveSet')
but he will raise an error:
com.quest.nitro.service.sl.interfaces.scripting.ScriptAbortException: script1000680: java.lang.RuntimeException: Removing default configurations is not permitted.
So my question is, is my problem actually caused by a corrupted configuration?
How to solve this?
Hope you can help.
Kind regards
ISP
Hi Brian,.
Thanks for your reply. I uninstalled the cartridge and unfortunately configurations 'by default' always appears. Before I go ahead with the name change Agent, is ask you if there is really no way to cleanly remove this corruption of the configuration. I'd rather not stuck with this type of corruption even if it does not affect the stability of the duration of FogLight.
Kind regards
ISP
------------ update -----------------
Hello
I managed to clean configurations incriminated with a workaround using the following procedure.
- Export the configuration via the command line
fglcmd.sh - usr- pwd cmd - f util:configexport - Extract all the persistence-config-modelagent LiveSet s in a new control - strategie.xml
- Change the config_type of all the extracted elements to test
- Import configuration
fglcmd.sh cmd - util:configimport - usrpwd - monitoring-f - strategie.xml - Run the following in the Script Editor in the Console FogLight groovy script
cs=server['ConfigService']models=cs.getConfigs('SPI', 'LiveSet')for (model in models) cs.removeConfig(model) models=cs.getConfigs('SPI', 'LiveSet') remaining=[]for (model in models) remaining += model.getId() remaining
Make an another export confirms that incriminated configurations are deleted.
Relocation of the agent and the application of the custom monitoring strategy works now.
Brian Merci for your time.
Kind regards
ISP

Very slow WebLogic administration console in a strange behavior
Hi, I am facing a problem where the weblogic administration console becomes very slow, here is the scenario:
* I have 3 servers managed in my environment, 1 server is a loadbalancer using servlet cluster weblogic, 2 other servers are in a cluster where
1 server is in the same physical machine as the server administrator and the other on another Machine
so now THAT if I stop the 2nd managed server is on another machine, the administration console becomes very slow, it takes like 30 seconds to load any section.
I use the Weblogic Server 10.3.6 & ADF 11.1.2.4.0
Help, please.
Hello
Administration console WebLogic Server 10.3.6 becomes slow when a managed server is disconnected from the network, because the ServerLifeCycleRuntime does not wait times.
It is recorded in the published 14295772 vice - WEBLOGIC 10.3.6 SLOW CONSOLE - SERVERLIFECYCLERUNTIME no IS NOT TAKING THE WAIT times
Please, ask for the patch number 14295772, so that the administration console does not slow down for answer in case one of the host machines is achieved.
Then, you must set the following parameters:
(1) in mydomain > Configuration > General > Advanced page
Invocation seconds Timeout: 2
(2) in the administration Console, on the preferences page > shared Preferences (Tab)
Timeout operation management: 5
Thank you

Administration console extremely slow to save changes
We are duplication event bookings in Business Catalyst to create new dates on our site (we sell face-to-face courses).
Our admin team had trouble with the last 4 + months. The administration console is extremely slow save changes and will sometimes disconnect you with:
"Error code: 0Message: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: an unknown error occurred while processing the request on the server." The status code returned by the server was: 0 "
Any ideas on how to make admin console user friendlier for those minor updates?
We contacted our Web designer who can't seem to reproduce the problem on their end.
Thank you
This seems also spent a few years in the EU Admin Console takes forever to save
This seems to be something more for the moment.
Could you do a real support, ticket say that there are several partners and messages of the forum on this issue more and more and see where you get with that.

Slow mouse (vSphere Client after open the Console)
I have a brand new installation of VMware (more Essentials). I'm also very new to the world of VMware, if I'm still struggling to catch.
When I connect via vSphere Client and select "Open Console" for any of my virtual machines, the mouse becomes too slow and nervous.
Data sheet:
- I have 2 guests; Total 12 VMs
- I see the slow mouse even if my client is installed on XP - Pro or Server 2003.
- All virtual machines are Server2008 R2. All the parameters of servers run by default.
I saw an old discussion of similar on this site trouble but no final resolution.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Welcome to the community,
solutions for Windows XP/2003 and 2008 R2 are different. Unless already done so, install VMware Tools in the virtual machines.
for Windows 2003 and XP follow http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1002450 to enable hardware acceleration
follow http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1016770 for Windows 2008 R2
Don't forget to adjust the video RAM as described in the article, otherwise you can end up with a black console!
