Slow IE11 with Windows 8.1 - Slimline 400-214

Why oh why.  We only had this new HP Pavilion Slimline 400 - 214 for a few weeks to get used to WIndows 8.1 as we finally put it to update from XP!  And it was just great.

But the problem is with IE11... is it just me?  Some websites is slow, and some work even not at all.  I can find all together using Chrome.  I tried all the updates, tried resetting, tried to extinguish IE11... stop it, then turning power on.

None of that so far has contributed to the slowness of it.

I contacted Microsoft about this, but they can't help and suggested that I have to contact HP computer that we bought was preinstalled.

Someone else with the same problem?

Fixed it got!  After talking with the Department of technology at work, with our ISP and then Micorsoft directly... we found many add (at least 25 or more) may have from the outset, when we bought the computer.

They are all showed only when we downloaded the software of Autoruns and disabled everything from there to the Internet Explorer tab.  Everything flies up to now, and fingers crossed it stays like that.

Our new PC will no longer throw himself into the Lake of frustration.

  • Very slow performance with Windows 7 on i7 Quad

I bought my wife a Lenovo E530 i7 quad with screen 1600 x 900 and running Win 7 in September 2012. Previously, she had an Asus Core 2 Duo also with Win 7. The laptop is used to picture (scanning, editing, cataloging) work, family, the navigation and email history.

The E530 was desperately slow at the beginning. Not better, not faster than the Asus. Performance seems to vary from slow to excruciatingly slow.

    Features include:

    -very slow to open programs

-slow to react to the choice of menus and clicks

-slow to react to the touchpad

-scrolling is not smooth, vibrates, much worse than Asus

-often distorts the sound and video, audio stutters

-IE9 make often video has properly - green band across the bottom with the rest of the colors shifted upward - change the video quality will fix it sometimes

-very slow internet response compared to the other machines on the same network of navigation.

However, startup speed seems to be OK.

I spent weeks (months?) through the forums, verification of updates, deletion and restoration of various programs and drivers looking for driver clashes. I tried the clean boot with only Windows drivers and various other combinations, and it made no difference.

For a long time wifi would be max 54 Mbps but somewhere through the process he begins to operate at up to 300Mbps.

Nothing seems to stand out in reports on health of the system and the event viewer. Windows experience scores seem to be everything I expected from my older i7.

Resources and performance monitor reports a problem with the hard drive:

The average disk queue length = Max 16 = 106

    %Idle = 0

    Disk read/s Ave = 0.093 Max = 3

    Disk sec/Transfer Ave = 0,067 Max = 1

    Disk s/write = 0.022 Ave

Even when the computer runs slower the CPU usage, and memory usage is not mounted and ceiling ever.

SFC report any breach of integrity.

FixIt MS - slow performance does not detect any problems.

The disk check is not a problem any.

It's so frustrating that my wife threatens to throw it in the trash and buy a Mac (the horrors :-)).

Any ideas on what I might have missed or what I should look at?

    Hello

HP has a solution for me and are working on a new BIOS to correct the problem of permanence.

Go to the configuration of the BIOS F10-> advanced-> System Options-> and uncheck 'allow PCIe/PCI SERR # Interrupt.

Then, you are able to run Sysprep without blue screen of death.

I see that HP has released a new BIOS version 02.03 last month. You might want to try everything first, but if not, try the above solution.

    Best regards

  • Equium A60 very slow with Windows XP SP 2

This Toshiba unit very boots very slow, it takes forever to get started it got a software firewall installed but it is not correct that it really takes ages to boot up a laptop like this. I have searced for a few updates here, but I have not really found something. Is there a known issue with windows xp and sp 2 for this laptop?

    Do you have any adviecs?

    Concerning

    Hello

I had the similar problem with my Satellite P10. After installation of SP2, the startup procedure takes much longer. Check please the processes that start to run and disable some of them if you n t need them.

Have you installed SP2 or it is also to the recovery image?

In my opinion, it is not specific for certain just usual laptop models. My second unit (without SP2) starts a lot faster.

  • Slow printing with DJ 970cse in Windows 8

I recently started using Windows 8 (32 bit).  Previously, I had used a LJ 4 p both a cse 970 DJ under Windows XP Pro (32 bit) without any problem with a printer.  Since the installation of Windows 8, the LJ 4 p works fine but not the DL 970 CSE.

The problem with the Deskjet printer, is that after half a page impression will slow down considerably, take up to 15 minutes to print a full page of text, single spaced.  This is the case for all, but the last page of a print job that prints at the speed.  Printing rate slows down, 8 Windows displays a message that the document is not printing, even though printing will continue up to the end, just very slowly.

The computer uses an Intel E8400 processor and has 8 MB of RAM.  The hard drive in the system is 2 TB.

I tried to uninstall the printer, unplug the USB cable, restarted and connect the work cable with Windows 8 reinstall the driver.  I also followed the instructions that appear to match the best printer on the HP support site.  None of the usual approaches to the problems of drivers seems to help.  Interestingly, the DJ 970cse printer is not listed, only the DJ 970 cxi.  I don't know if it's important for a driver problem (maybe it means that the version of cse is not supported by HP or Microsoft more).

I would appreciate a lot any insight and suggestions.

    Thank you.

    You are welcome SGMidas

Thanks for keeping me posted and let me know what happens.

With how long the printer takes to print, it is possible that it is hardware related. Just letting you know in case it comes to her, but I hope that the right driver just needs to be selected. Finally before blame us on equipment made me know the problem persists and we can try another driver or two.

  • Computer Dell laptop with Windows 7, upgrade to IE9 and now the computer is slow

Original title: did someone really knows what I need to do?

I have a Dell laptop with Windows 7 (I have set accidetally to level internet explorer to 9 widows. I need to Java and Adobe. But my computer is slow. I do not know what prorams that I need to run start or to uninstall... Someone really knows what I need to do?

FYI: with a topic like this, you have 2 strikes against you. Most of the people don't bother wasting time looking to see what your problem...  Next time be brief and specific about your problem, is to give an application (with version) and the code error or describe your problem briefly.

If you don't want to be a Guinea pig, you can follow these instructions to uninstall Explorer 9:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Internet-Explorer/help/IE-9/How-do-i-install-or-uninstall-Internet-Explorer-9

Looks like you want to control the programs that run at startup, right? It is always a good thing to do. You can run MSCONFIG (type in the search window on the start menu).  See the "Startup" tab  So, you can use other applications to display the same information. For example, CCleaner has a 'tool' that does the same thing.  NirSoft does: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/what_run_in_startup.html

Browse the list of questions, and if you decide all. For example many applications load stub apps to speed up their startup. If you do not use all the days of the app, uncheck the box and it does not load.  If you do not recognize, this is often the case, track the location of path or to register 'Command' to try to understand what program it is for.  Use google to search for file names. Other people have asked the same question and got answers on the importance of the application is.

Related, another thing to work is 'Services' (new type who, in the start menu, look for the window). They are a special software that runs in the background to provide services such as faxing or printing. Yet once, often you need not all services.  You can find a lot of information on how to do this in Google search for "Harden Win XP" or related expressions. They call it "Soak" because in this context deactivation of services makes your computer safer, more 'hard' hack by eliminating the places to be hacked.  Don't you worry that many of the articles are 5 or more years, they will be still valid.  Here are some links to help you get started:

  • laptop (Dell Inspiron) with Windows 7 Home Premium is now slow to most of the activities - loading of the pages in the browser, etc.

I heard that after a few years of use, Windows-based computers lose their ability to function. This happened to me before and I bought a new laptop. Now, I think that it happens again. The laptop (Dell Inspiron) with Windows 7 Home Premium is now slow to most of the activities - loading of the pages in the browser, etc... He is also declining my VPN connection occasionally, but also my direct connection is very slow. Latency shows speedtest software provided by the ISP in addition of 250 ms, download speed of 1 MB/s (compared with 8 planned) and 0.05Mbps download. The ISP has corrected this once, but I'm wondering now if it is the computer which is slow rather than on the network because my laptop works well on the same network/router. Is there one solution to this other than another new laptop?

    Jonathan,

You say that your computer is slow, but all of the examples you give are rather than slow computer operations slow network communications.  To avoid any unnecessary work, check how fast the computer is on the tasks that don't use any network.

If it works fine for tasks not network then you can concentrate on the problems of network as being the only concern.

It has also become very slow for no network tasks you should study other causes.  Just as an example: If, like me, you sleep / turn off the computer when you are not using it then defrag will never work, so you can run it manually to make sure that doesn't cause problems.   Describe your symptoms in this thread so that someone can advise on the best course of action.

In the unlikely case where you must run Dell Factory Image Restore, then the instructions are in your manual PC *.  Before doing this, run Dell Datasafe Local Backup then click on Backup, recovery to create - media allows you to create a bootable USB of the partition that you can use the normal procedure that failing Dell Factory Image Restore [to do this, even if you have already solved your problems so that you could face if the hard drive has failed never completely].

    * Procedure Dell Factory Image Restore [excerpt from the manual for Dell Inspiron 1545]

    1. turn on the computer.

2 when the Dell logo appears, press several times to access the Advanced Boot Options window.

Note: If you wait too long and the operating system logo appears, continue to wait until you see the Microsoft Windows desktop; then, shut down your computer and try again.

    3. Select repair your computer.  The System Recovery Options window appears.

    4. Select a keyboard layout and click Next.

    5. to access the recovery options, log in as a local user. To access the command prompt, type administrator in the user name field, and then click OK.

    6. click on Dell Factory Image Restore. The Dell Factory Image Restore welcome screen appears.

Note: Depending on your configuration, you may need to select Dell, then Dell Factory Image Restore factory tools.

    7. click on next. Data delete screen is displayed.

Note: If you do not wish to continue Factory Image Restore, click Cancel.

    8. check the box to confirm that you want to continue reformatting the hard drive and restoring the system software to the factory condition, then click Next.  The restore process begins and may take five or more minutes. A message appears when the operating system and the applications installed in the factory have been restored to the State of the plant.

    9. click Finish to restart the system.

I installed the same SSD on my PC, and it loads so fast with windows 7 colorful circles which converge at the Center as Windows loads can converge even before my windows opens.  I have not installed the SSD from zero tho.  I used the Wizard software to copy my drive on the SSD.  Everything worked fine, so I don't know what to think.  All I can say is that if you get that SSD is working properly, you will drool at the speed if you're used to HARD disks. :)

    Hello

There are a number of possible reasons, your computer may run slowly - virus infection or malware, missing to defragment the hard drive, too many programs loading at startup - and all with different causes / solutions. So here goes:

Virus/Malware - Download, install and run these scanners (only Avast so you do not have your own antivirus installed):

    Malwarebytes': http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html .

    SuperAntiSpyware: http://download.cnet.com/SuperAntiSpyware-Free-Edition/3000-8022_4-10523889.html .

    Avast Antivirus: http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free-Antivirus/3000-2239_4-10019223.html .

Disk Defragging - install and run this app: http://download.cnet.com/Auslogics-Disk-Defrag/3000-2094_4-10567503.html .

Startup programs - install this application, then select start only the programs you need to run at startup, as your antivirus, firewall, but not your Disk Defragmenter (examples):

    Splash Guard: http://download.cnet.com/Startup-Guard/3000-2239_4-10958203.html.

Also, your system's drivers are up-to-date? Updated the driver can also slow down your system. Go to HP.com and insert the complete your laptop model number in the search box to find your latest drivers.

Let me know if these speed up your pc.

    Kind regards

    BearPup
