  My question has pushed down because of all the activity I would ask again:

  I have a series of Gateway DX4710 desktop.  Here is my system information:

  System: 3.3 Windows experience
  Processor: Intel (R) Core (TM) 2 Quad CPU Q 6600 @ 2.40 GHZ
  (RAM Ram): 6.00 GB
  System type: 64-bit Operating System

  I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit.  Recently, I did a Diagnostic system test on my PC and the test revealed that I need a SM Bus controller device.  I went to the gateway drivers and downloads section, did a search to find a device SM Bus controller, and research has revealed four options:

  1 PV9.0.0.1008.zip - Intel Chipset Driver
  2 390598_MA1_1_OEMGen_165622.zip - Intel network driver
  3 WHQL_5688_PG262_Vist_XP_Getway_Dolby.zip - Audio Realtek
  4 PV15.82.1461.zip - Intel video driver

  Here my question:

  I already asked the question on this forum: what is a SM Bus controller device and they advised me to go to the downloads Section and the router modem drivers and do a search.  As you can see, she came back with 4 options.  I am new to this and I don't know which driver to choose.  Can you advise?  Should I uninstall the previous driver (which does not work) before I can install one of the above or download the drivers above will download and update and clarify all the problems I'm having with the driver.

  Visit the page and install all the latest drivers.

  After you downloaded and installed all the drivers available, the problem should be solved. Remains, it is safe to ignore the problem, because the SM Bus controller is likely either absent or not needed in your computer.

  I chose the Toshiba driver page and I found two different Satellite L100.
  I hope that you have downloaded the correct drivers.

  Also, I found an Installation instruction on this page.
  I hope that you followed this guide line because the drivers must be installed in that order.
  Believe me, I have x times the drivers installed on my laptop and I had to follow the right order!

  PS: Extra, you can consult the FAQ from Toshiba, that I found in the knowledge base on the page of Tosh.

  Hmm I don't very well if this entry could be linked to a m Chipset driver.
  But you can find the chipset driver yourself.
  Install a tool of diagnosis of equipment as Everest Home Edition and control hardware components. Then, you would be able to download driver chipset chipset manufacturer page.

  But in your case I recommend you delete this first device manager entry.
  Mark this bus controller and press to remove or uninstall.
  Restart the unit.

  Usually the Win XP should recognize and reinstall the device again

  I am traveling abroad and I have problems with my A65, in Device Manager, I have a? beside the SM Bus controller. I ve searched for the device driver etc etc and nothing works. Is it hidden with a different set of drivers?

  I tried to connect a USB mass and, while storage device that the computer recognizes that its connected all this. It also signals an error of voltage on the connection. The number of Bus SM occurred after that I connected the USB mass storage device.

  Yes, you need to install these drivers.

  First of all, download and install the Intel Chipset driver at the following link.

  When this has completed, restart the laptop.

  When windows has reloaded, download and install the Realtek card reader driver below.

  Once you have installed the Chipset driver, I would also reinstall the Intel HD Graphics driver on this link.

  Once again, when this has completed, restart the computer and check if your videos look as they should.

  About memory, 4 GB is fine, although you can switch to 8 GB (2 x 4 GB Modules) If you wish.
