Original title: Check Disk computer error... Need help please

    Hello

my computer is unable to check the disk... I believe that my windows vista crashed and when I turn on my computer... it continues to try to check the disk, but it keeps going and it never ends.  Someone told me I could used a program of different control on different portable media disc such that a cd could solve this problem.

What is the way to bet to find such a program? Microsoft expects to have a disk of audit program which can be downloaded, or can you recommend something else?

Thank you very much for your time and help

    Hello

Make sure that you have the correct CD/DVD as first in the boot order in the BIOS. Do not forget
    to set again when finished.

    Check with HP support.

    -----------------------------------------

If this does not help, it looks like you have a hardware problem.

If the drive has completely failed you "might" be able to recover your data.

You can also save the data and re-install Windows 7. The hard drive can be put in another
computer as a 2nd drive (the best) or in an external USB enclosure. Either allows you to copy data
for removable media such as CD, DVD or other USB drives. Of course, there are professional
    recovery
services which are usually expensive - check with your local computer store and HP (one who
his own internal service and not of leeks and display a Best Buy or other stores).

Or you can use a boot Ubuntu CD to back up data.

Use Ubuntu Live CD to backup files from your Windows computer dead

    Hey, @sumukhreddy!

I'm really sorry to hear about your WD drive problems. However, I recommend you to use Data LifeGuard Diagnostics from WD (DOS version) to test again and check on the health and the SMART State it. The DOS version of the utility will allow you to perform diagnostics without having to boot into any operating system. You should be able to find under downloads by product once you select WD Caviar Blue.  You can extend the WD software link and follow the instructions.

The drive is OEM and most likely came with your laptop, so I recommend you to contact the manufacturer and check the warranty of your laptop. It is always covered, you can RMA and they should be able to provide a repair and the implementation of the defective material.

Good luck! I hope I've been helpful! :)

  • Re: Satellite L310 - cannot start from the HARD disk

    Hello

My L310 just died on me yesterday. My system just can not start, not even in Safe Mode. And it keeps trying to start using my network card, not through hard drive.

I put the BIOS default settings, but it does not help.

And she has this tone to loud continuous beep when it tries to start using the network card. A continuous beep, even on the screen of the BIOS and in safe mode.

I chose the hard drive manually, but he keeps trying to start through the network adapter.

And the laptop does not meet the keyboard. Even with a keyboard external usb. When I sometimes managed to boot my system on the rare occasion, I get to the login screen and cannot button my password.

    Does anyone have similar problems?

    Let me know. Thank you!

Looks like your HARD drive is defective. BIOS recognize it?
You should test the disk with Drive Fitness Test. Download the CD image, burn it to a CD and boot from it:
    http://www.HitachiGST.com/HDD/support/download.htm#DFT

Check this box and give us feedback. Maybe the HARD drive needs to be replaced.

On the keyboard issue it is not easy to say what are the causes of the problem, but in the worst case that he should be replaced also. :(

  • In the DC series models starting from the IDE hard disk?

In addition to above question - are you able to use sata cd rom on machines that have the ide and sata connectors and boot from the drive hard ide?

    Thanks in advance

    cpu201

    Hello:

The last model that came standard with a HDD IDE was the d530. From the dc7100, primary hard drives are SATA, and starting with the dc7800 is not an IDE connector on the motherboard at all.

You may be able to boot from an IDE hard drive in a dc7700 and earlier versions, but you will need to remove the optical drive to the primary IDE cable position and place it in a secondary position, and that's if you can get the cable to fit. Otherwise, a SATA optical drive must be connected to the SATA 2 port.

The d530 starts natively on the IDE HDD and you can add a SATA optical drive to the sata port 1 and always start from the HARD disk.

    Hi all

An error message appears every time I start my laptop Alienware of window 7, the message reads: "wscript.exe - no disk" there is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into \Device\harddisk1\DR1.

I'm a bit confused with this error message, I don't know if there are viruses in my computer, or the reason why this error message whenever I start my computer,

Although I installed file encryption software.

This could be a virus? and how to prevent this error message appear on my computer.

Sounds like malware. Run msconfig.exe, and then selectively uncheck items under the Startup tab until you find the culprit.

  • SMART failure provided on hard disk 2: WDC WD 3200AAJS-55RY-AO (S1) __WARNING: IMMEDIATELY back up your data and replace your hard disk drive failure can be immenent

Please help... I dunno what to do one day, I came home from work and my new about sony vaio desktop has been frozen, so I rebooted and now I have this message when I try to start and I do not have a vista disc or a recovery disc and am worried my lost data as I do not know how to save at this point because I can't even in the windows operating system Vista.  can someone help me please?

We must believe the error message telling you that your hard drive is about to fail. If you are not technically proficient, take the machine to a local computer technician who will try to back up your data and then replace the hard drive. Do not use a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad of the place. Otherwise, you may be able to get the data saved by one of the methods below and replace the hard drive yourself.

1 remove the drive and put it in a box of USB drive or use a USB adapter. Attach it to a computer that is running a working XP/Vista/Windows7 installation. Use the work of Windows Explorer to copy the data to the hard drive of the system to the rescue and burn data on cd or dvd. I prefer not to do it if I know the drive is infected because he has a chance to infect your host system. In these cases, I use #2 below.

    2. you can start the target computer with a Bart PE (if you use XP) or a Linux live CD like Knoppix and retrieve the data in this way. General information about the use of Knoppix for this are:

You will need a computer with two cd records, one of which is an engraver of CD/DVD OR a USB thumb drive with sufficient capacity to store your data, OR an external hard drive formatted USB FAT32 (not NTFS) *. Download Knoppix .iso image file and create your bootable CD. If you do this in a previous (XP or Vista) operating system, you will need the third burning like Nero, Roxio or the free ImgBurn software (Windows 7 can burn .isos natively). Burn as an image, not in the form of data. Then boot with the CD that you created, and Knoppix will be able to see the files in Windows. If you use the USB key or an external hard disk, right-click on its icon (on the desktop) to get its properties and uncheck "read only". Then click on it to open it. Note that the mouse action by default in the window manager used by Knoppix (KDE) is a simple click to open instead of double-click traditional MS Windows. If you want to burn CD/DVDs, use the K3b program.

    * My understanding is that you can now write on NTFS from Linux partition. If you wish to do this, Google for instructions on the use of the NTFS driver.

IMPORTANT - If there is no question that the drive is at fault - there are noises, for example - and the data is crucial NOTHING else ON THE DISC. Whenever launch you this player you can destroy data. If this is the case, send the drive to a professional data recovery company. I use savers by car, but there are others. General prices run from $500USD on-site. Investors recovered all disk data on a portable player that failed for one of my clients, and it cost $2 700. He thought that it was worth the money; only you know what's worth your data. I understand that some insurance companies now cover fresh data recovery so check with yours.

    Hello

    1. don't you make changes to the computer until the problem occurred?

I suggest you to try the steps below and check if it helps.

Set up your computer in a clean boot state, and check to see if the same problem happens.

By setting your boot system minimum state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

    # Remote disc is a feature that allows you to use the CD drive from another computer.

It is always in the Finder, and when Setup a disc in another computer it will appear.

It is perfectly normal.  No one has access to your computer.
