Smart HARD drive detects imminent failure on Satellite P

Hello

I have a message "SMART provides a defect on the disc dur0: TOSHIBA MK5055GSX-(S1)" or (the same in English) "Smart Drive detects imminent failure".
On the newsgroups different 'people' says to change the disk.

My problem is not to change the drive, it's easy. Expensive, but easy.

As I understand it, on each disk from Toshiba, a hidden partition, which allows to restore the machine, with Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator there?.
I would like to change the disc and use the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator? to restore Vista.

How can I reinstall everything what to use Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator? This new disk to reinstall Vista from this new album.

Thanks for any response.

> If I understand correctly, each disk Toshiba, there is a hidden partition, which allows to restore the machine, with Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator?

That s not entirely correct!
The Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator creates the recovery disk! The recovery disk allows to recover the laptop using the drive and not the HARD drive recovery process!

New portable Toshiba supports HARD drive recovery which allows to restore the laptop without the use of the recovery disc!

You can view this document on the HARD drive recovery:

Hi, I have "1720 smart hard drive detects imminent failure" made a backup, Gather I have to get another drive. How can I transfer my windows vista / files to new drive? Help, please.

    Hello

There are different ways to do

and these methods depend on your hard drive work

hard drive manufacturers will normally provide the cloning to move your operating system software from the old to the new drive hard If your old hard drive still works

Search for information on this subject on their Web site

If you have vista business or ultimate, you can use the builtin vista complete PC Backup to move

    read the information below

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial145.html

or if you have vista home version you'll need 3rd party software

link below is an example of this:

    http://www.Acronis.com/homecomputing/products/TrueImage/index.html

also to put your machine how you bought:

    1. If vista is preinstalled, you should have a recovery on your old hard drive partition

You can recovery disks to reinstall on your new drive hard If the old drive still works

ask the manufacturer of the machine how

    2. contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send you to vista recovery disks to reinstall the operating system back as it was when you bought it

they do it for a nominal cost of $

    3. or borrow a microsoft dvd vista

Make sure that you borrow the correct 32-bit or 64-bit microsoft dvd to your computer

they contain all versions of vista

This is the product key that determines which version of vista is installed

The disc is defective, stop using the PC now, replace the hard drive with a new one and reinstall Windows using your HP recovery media.

Once you windows reinstalled on the new disk and the PC is running windows, fix the old hard disk on the pc using a sata to usb adapter, see if you can see the drive in Windows Expl. ORER, if you can copy out of your important files on the new drive C.

  • HP mini says check Smart hard drive detected an immenent failure

Went to use my mini and he had a black screen with a warning about the content of backup immediately because it has detected a failure immennent.  It won't let me something but run the proposed test and the test of hard drive has failed in this regard, a HP mini 110-3100. Not even yet 3 years old.  Can someone tell me if I lost all that on it or if there is a fix that I can do myself or take home. Could what cost be, no idea?

    Please and thank you!

Probably the best chance to recover all your files would be to remove the hard drive. Then attach it to a > hdd USB adapter or a > USB hdd Enclosure. Plug it into a machine via USB and hard drive will appear as a drive to extra storage that you can browse and copy files on the hard drive of the machine to work. Of course, it depends on how much life is left in the drive.

    Dear customer,

Welcome and thanks for posting your question on the Forum of Support HP

Looks like you're not able to boot into the operating system of your laptop

Please Contact HP if your HP laptop is under warranty, HP could replace the hard drive and give you the

Recovery media to restore the operating system to factory after the replacement (if you have not yet created recovery disks/USB support)

According to the message that you have posted, it shows that you get "Abstract DST Failure", then it is time to replace the hard drive with a new

Back up any personal data on an external drive if possible. Otherwise, you can connect the HDD defective via SATA USB adapter with another PC or a PC even after replacing the HARD drive & put in place of the operating system and try to copy / retrieve files.

I highly recommend the assistance of HP immediately by phone to get help without delay to get your Notebook diagnosed and repaired by an authorized HP Certified Engineer

You can check your warranty here to check the status and click here to order a new hard drive

  • Installation of XP operating system in model of lab manager... No hard drive detected?

I am currently trying to obtain a model of machine configuration virtual xp in lab management. I have deploy the model, mount the .iso image file, start the installation, but then installing XP spits a message that there is no hard drive detected on the computer. I checked the properties on the machine, there is obviously a hard drive I put in place. It is in the format of BusLogic SCSI parallel. Is there a specific reason for this installation isn't or doesn't see is not the virtual disk? I have not really found something in the help or documentation which speaks of a specific operating system installation issue. Everything is useful, thanks in advance.

To install Windows XP, you must have a driver for the disk controller VMware disc. You can consult this article for download one-

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=1000863&sliceId=1&docTypeID=DT_KB_1_1&dialogID=32908933&StateID=0%200%2029476991

If that one doesn't work, then, you must submit a request for support and ask management to send you the right driver

  • Re: Satellite L650D SMART HARD drive failure, backup fails when only half

    Hello

I have a laptop L650D. I get the following error message
    "Disk0.
Your HARD drive has failed to predict INTELLIGENT works what monitors HARD drive operating status. Your HARD drive is facing a problem and SMARRT monitoring software predicts that the HARD drive will fail. Toshiba strongly recommends that you create a backup for the data on your HARD drive. Contact an authorized service provider to check your drive and buy a new drive for replacement if necessary. »
It then gives me the option to make a back-up.
I tried two times to make this backup and twice it almost 50% of fact and then it says there no :(
It only gives me the option to backup DVD drive, the ability to use another drive is grayed out and cannot be selected (I have a 1 TB drive external DRIVE connected via USB)

I always use the laptop, there not having yet. I copied all the pictures, documents and emails from my external HARD drive it will not be too devastating if it falls.

    Any suggestions?

I am trying to locate my receipt, because I think that's only a little more than 12 months since I bought it. Not sure if I can argue to get the HARD drive replaced under warranty, as it should last longer than what he has.

    Thanks in advance

If I understand you well you want to backup using Windows Backup and Restore option system, right? I put t really know if there is any sense to do this if the HARD drive is probably faulty.
What you need is the backup of your personal data.

My suggestion: buy external HARD drive, connect it to your laptop and copy all the important things on that external data. When you have a new HARD drive in your laptop, you need to install the new OS so I put t think you need this Windows backup.

  • Warning of imminent failure of satellite L500-19Z, hard disk

A warning came on my laptop computer indicating that the hard drive could fail at any time. I have everything backed up and thought I would defragment the drive to see if that helped (my knowledge of computers and their inner workings is seriously limited). It takes forever to defragment, FYI, it seems to be stuck on "pass3: consolidation", whatever that means.

I recently bought an Ipod and have been loading CD on my laptop like crazy in recent weeks, on top of that he had only really soft internet search use, so I was wondering if the Ipod has changed it.

Can someone please give me some advice on what to do next if the defrag does not work? And perhaps shed some light on why this 'thing' could be at fault in the first place? I bought the laptop about 14 months ago and as I said he had very light use until very recently.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

Perhaps you have received this error message the S.M.A.R.T process that runs in the background.
The SMART (self-monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) controls the HARD drive and detects and reports HARD drive problems.
Maybe something is wrong with the HARD drive and so you cannot defragment the HARD drive also.

I recommend that you check the HARD drive with the help of a tool called Drive Fitness Test.
Google for it of free and you can check the HARD drive using this tool.
If you get errors, then you should try to format the HARD drive and try to reinstall new OS.

If this will not help, then a HARD drive replacement is necessary
