Smartphones blackBerry desperately need help: Desktop Manager, Media Sync
Hi guys,.
I am desperate for help. I have read through the Help menu and was functional on all night without success.
Last night I installed the Desktop Manager from the CD that came with my 8310 and I also downloaded and installed the Media Sync application on the Blackberry website. Subsequently, I decided to download OS 4.5 since my curve runs only 4.2.
I connected my Blackberry via USB and noticed that as soon as I do this, I can click is no longer on the Desktop Manager. I looked in the Office Manager in my system tray and confirmed that it "was still working", as well as in my task manager which revealed that he was still in the market.
Possibly by a moat, I managed to get the Application Manager to work and tried to install OS 4.5. I heard that it takes a while, so I left it all night with my computer expecting to come back in the morning. When I go back to him, it was still in the phase of 'back-up device', but no progress in the progress bar. Looking at my curve revealed my usual home screen. As my button cancel in the request was not clickable, I had to unplug and put an end to the program using the Task Manager.
I restarted the computer and I tried to start the Desktop Manager and plug in the unit. The Director of office prompted me for my password, I entered, and he said that it was a link on the blackberry and the Desktop Manager. I tried to click on the different options (Application Manager, Media Manager, etc.) but found that they were not clickable. Nothing happens when I click on them. I tried to look at the connection in the Options, but found that I can't click on that.
I decided to try the next Media Sync. I opened Media Sync and put my password. After that I put my password, it says that it cannot connect to the device, please try again. I click Retry, nothing.
I will go back to the Desktop Manager, unplug the blackberry, click Application Manager (as it is the only way I can make it work) and plug the blackberry again after that the Application Manager has started to work. I try to start the installation of the OS 4.5.
He starts it connects to device stage, then stops and says that he "cannot connect to the device. You will need to enter a password on the device. ». No password box appears, and the screen of my blackberry only said that it is connected to the computer.
I've included some shots of what's going on.
Please note that the Blackberry is the display that it is connected to the computer, but the Desktop Manager now says it is not.
For the screencapture above, please note how the Desktop Manager now says that the device is connected, but the same result can be shown with the Media Sync.
The problem is now resolved, but I do not know why.
Two days ago, I installed and then decided to uninstall Facebook. I downloaded the latest version of the Desktop Manager, once again, and when I plugged in my phone, it worked. I have tried since then with the same results.
I'm really happy about it! But I still don't know what happened, or if the installation of Facebook had nothing to do with it.

Synchronize the Smartphone blackBerry Bold 9700 with Desktop Manager
I have trouble log my Bold 9700 with Desktop Manager (PC) for e-mail, my calendar and my contacts. I am on gmail and understand that I will not be able to synchronize my email, that's fine.
Calendar and address book: I was told to click on my calendar with my menu button then Options and disconnect the wireless connection, this option does not exist at this location. Am I doing this wrong?
Once I click on Options what happens, it's run by Tuping - painted paper - number of rows in icon - default reset settings

Hello and welcome to the community!
There are two places to check (and disable), and the KB explains both:

BlackBerry Smartphones backup images via the Desktop Manager
When I perform a full backup using the desktop software, it load the backups by looking at my most important files (messages & insertion etc.) but I never see it back up my images that I took with the camera.
All images are stored on my media card when I use the camera on my blackberry. When you perform a save as above, these images get stored on?
Many people use SyncToy to synchronize your card (or a folder in) to your PC.
Sync is backup difference, same.

The Smartphone blackBerry Desktop Manager installation problems
OK, this may seem a stupid question, so please bear with me...
I have some trouble installing the Desktop Manager software, version 4.2, for my 8320. I am running Windows Vista. When I install the program, everything seems to be okay. I get no error message or anything. He goes through the whole installation process, and then says it installed successfully and I click on the button "Finish".
But after the installation, I can't find the program anywhere on my computer. It does not appear in the framework programmes. It does not appear in my C:\ drive under program files. I tried to search my hard drive for "blackberry", "research in motion" 'desktop manager', 'RIM', etc. and he doesn't find anything. But, when I go to "Programs and features" in my control panel, "Blackberry v4.2.2 for handheld wireless 8320" appears on the list of programs, and I only have the option of where to uninstall. What is the problem?
I have internet and can not find an answer. I tried the fix javascript.dll I found (which was for the error messages, I don't get), I tried to disable the user account control, I uninstalled and reinstalled the program several times, the disc and the Web site. All to nothing does not.
I'm going nuts... it's probably an extremely simple, obvious answer. If someone could help, I would be VERY happy.
Thank you!
Thanks, I knew it was something obvious! When I went to this link before, I was using "Blackberry Curve 8320" in this list, which gave me the 4.2.2 version. I never even checked this list for version 4.6, b/c I thought by selecting the 8320 would give me the most recent version of the software for my phone. Don't think.
Thanks for the help!

Details of transfer of Smartphones from blackBerry to Palm Treo 650 to Tour via BB Desktop Manager
I just got the new Tour. I've been using the Palm Treo and Palm Desktop (v 4.1.4). 1: the BB Desktop manager does NOT ask for name/password of the device, as indicated on this site. 2nd AND MAIN QUESTION: when BB starts to pass data from one platform to the other, it invariably gets stuck in the first transaction (calendar) on file 3724 3385, how it is listed as "not responding" and the same message comes back to Palm Desktop. By another post, I adjusted the settings in Hot Sync related to the calendar to 'do nothing', but still experiences the same problem. Help, please! If I can't get these documents (including contacts) in the BB, it is worthless for me.
Thanks for the suggestions. What ended the work has been upgraded to the latest version of Palm Desktop (v6.2) syncing the Palm Treo to Outlook (instead of Palm Desktop) and then sync Blackberry to Outlook. Nothing else has worked, but now the contacts and calendar are in the Blackberry which was the goal.

Smartphones blackBerry 'Fatal Error' when you try to update via the Desktop Manager
Hi all
I hope that there, a genius will be able to help me.
I received and email from RIM this morning, which suggests an upgrade to the current version of the software, that I tried.
It is passed through the implementation of procedure, checking the current version (4.0.0.174) and checked for the latest version. I followed the procedure on the screen instructions showed. The Director of office went through the routine, saved running, then turn off the radio, then as he arrived at the 3/11 TI threw up the "fatal error has occurred during the upgrade. Please try again ".
So I tried again, but the same thing happens.
Curiously, if I go through the device and try a wireless upgrade, it says there is no upgrade to run? !
Weird indeed.
Even weirder: I just through the upgrade wireless setting, and the device says I have version 4.7.0.141. This does not match the version I posted above! Huh?
Apart from this little problem, I love my Storm! It is the second device, I got it, the first storm put itself and was generally a pain, it seems to behave itself.
Any help gratefully received
Matthew
Yes, check with your carrier to see if they have released a newer version of the operating system. I think it's a bug somewhere in the Office Manager. I've updated to the latest version offered by my company, but whenever I use the Desktop Manager it tells me of updates are available. It happens to a lot of people on the boards. I simply cancel in the command prompt

I am an absolute techtard who was simply trying to free up memory card space so I can transfer songs on my BB to my iTunes on my Mac and of course fixing a problem leads to another and it really starts to avalanche.
Would be very grateful if anyone can help, here goes:
Technical specification:
Unlocked Pearl 8120, v4.5.0.55 (Platform 2.7.0.68) software, I don't know if this is relevant, but I'm using this in Hong Kong.
How I messed up:
1 tried to format media card, but he refuses to let me do if BB is hooked to the Mac or offshore. Also only went the battery.
2. media checked card: total space is 970 MB and I only left 144KO. Weird because I have a few pictures and notes other than the email service and I just cleaned my cache of box and the browser of sms.
3. delete unnecessary files: a few photos and memos remain, but they cannot take that much space I think
4. search through forum discussions: decided to try cleaning the memory.
5 save address book and address book - all (no idea what the difference is, but all the two doing anyway) on the BB Desktop Manager, saved memos upward as well.
6. permit the garbage collection. Map of recorded media. Status quo.
7 checked another forum thread that says I can, and that you should remove "Address book" of garbage collection service.
8. panic and I tried to remove the 'address book' but it wasn't an option. Decided to clean all other components one by one in the hope to make more room, chose 'Search certificate' and he cleaned my complete address book.
9 returned to BB Desktop Manager, Contact selected and clicked "restore." At both options i.e. full and partial restoration for the address book and address book - all.
My directory is always empty.
Tried to restore my memos too but BB Desktop Manager doesn't show me how do or no results under the help section of return. Mode techtard true, then check my memos - always there. Phew. These are emails and sms - are.
Since I am a techtard, I didn't save my address book on my Mac (which would be the next big leap after I synced my BB with my Mac tonight).
So it was back to discussions of the forum again and I saw one that said "uninstall the RIM DTM software, then reinstall it" of sdgardne. I do not have this stuck under his wire because I'm dead desperate for some attention, so I thought I would start a fresh appeal for help instead.
My fear is that if I uninstall the software RIM DTM, then I'll lose all my addresses and memos. Isn't it based? Are there other solutions at all?
I apologize for this long a spiel but I hope that the information could be useful to anyone who is kind enough to accumulate his brain to help out me here.
Thanks heaps!
Hi JSanders,
Obstacles such as a switch office of personnel IT delayed my thanks for your advice... I didn't have any backup and has been quietly sad / happy for a few days for the sudden wipeout so miraculously reappeared all addresses.
My outgoing HE said guy thanks to my Mac office and Outlook software - it was not very useful and does not specify because it was really flooded in his last days at work. New this GUY was looking to highlight a little so it took me a while to understand how save my address book (BB Gmail and Apple address book) and empty the memory card (multimedia card somehow reformatting tried-tested-guaranteed solution) escaped me.
So everything is in working order, very much appreciate your advice and IrwinII too! Keep well!

BlackBerry smartphones can not get the Desktop Manager to recognize the connection to the device
I tried for days now to get the Desktop Manager to recognize a connection on my phone so that I can sync my Outlook contacts and calendar. So far, I deleted and reinstalled the Manager several times. I downloaded and installed the driver package. I tried to do a battery pull before connecting the phone.
Whenever I connect the phone Microsoft "new hardware found" Wizard opens and it recognizes the Blackberry device but it cannot complete the installation of the phone because apparently missing a driver.
I love the phone, but it is useless for me until and unless I can sync it with Outlook. Any suggestions?
OK, I found and fixed the problem! It had to do with the new Windows assistant material not being able to find the driver for the Blackberry device. When I did the uninstall process part included saving the pilot atl.dll. I assumed it was the driver that I needed to make things work. I searched on the C: drive for the file, and when the new device Wizard came I pointed to the spot. The Assistant began to load the driver. He asked another file that is part of the Service Pack 2 of Windows and I searched and found this one as well and directed the Assistant for her. It finishes loading and the device is connected.
The problem at the end of the day was that the wizard could not find the driver that he needed, even if it is there all the time.
Thank you for the help, it lead me to the solution I needed.

I did a software upgrade a few days ago, then I did a restore, because I lost all my App I had downloaded. After I did the restore, I started to download every App, when I was told that I can go the Blackberry App world on my desktop and reinstall them faster then one by one. Before that I was downloading one by one.
Now that I did, I can see the icons on my BB but when I go to my world App on my phone, some of the same application are evidence of uninstall, when I have them install. Please help solve this problem.
My phone was working fine without problem until I did the update of the operating system software. I hope that we can have this correction at your earliest.
Thank you
Also on my Blackberry when I go to see the management of the applications on my phone is displayed, it's another question also.
Help, please!
Hang on... now I am confused. You have problems with the supplied AppWorld apps? Or applications that you have obtained from other sources? Or the default applications provided originally with the BB?
-
1. After downloading the world version 1.1.0.35 Apps and installed, I can not get rid of the message that appears in Messages.
As a comment: version of The Apps World message appeared almost daily. After getting tired of deleting, I downloaded and installed the software in my mobile phone. I just spent several hours trying to get rid of this message. I removed the battery several times and the message remains. In addition when I try to delete the message it is a momentary freezing of the display and remains.
A lesson to learn... Beware of installing programs before doing the search even if it comes from a reliable source like the Blackberry.
The problem has been resolved with the msg of App World now available do not delete. On the forums of the site Crackberry, he mentions on the use of Desktop Manager to remove this application. It worked, but overall this App world buggy program caused a lot of frustration.
In addition to this the Desktop Manager for Mac also did not work and I had to use the PC version on paralllels.
Look out for OS 6!
I will not reload this application until version 2 is available!

BlackBerry Smartphones how do you remove Desktop Manager
A few weeks ago, I installed Desktop Manager. For several reasons, I want to uninstall when I tried the uninstall program, he said:
Uninstall failed:
Components of some BlackBerry® Desktop Manager may not have been removed from your
computer. Try to re-boot and start again.
No idea how to make sure that it's all gone? Some have mentioned to use a program called AppZapper, but is there a list of the files that are installed?
FYI: When I installed DM he says that he will make other unusable synchronization programs. Currently, I can synchronize with Missing Sync, but only if I press the button "sync" of the Mac. If I try to press the "sync" on the BB, nothing happens (it worked before installing DM) tells me that not all DM components have been removed.
Any help with the names and locations of all the components of DM would be appreciated.
Poking around in the BDM uninstall program, I found the a file called uninstall.sh... The content here:
