SMC Networks Modem

Running Windows SP Home Edition Service Pack 3 tries to connect to the internet via a modem, SMC Networks - Windows does not recognize the SMC Modem, by service provider, it's a matter of Microsoft windows.  Can anyone suggest how to solve the problem?  Thank you.

Thank you for your comments and all the good questions and directions. The modem is a modem, SMC Networks.

We found the problem - the IP address has been assigned manually to the network card in the computer. Just had to go into the properties of the network card and change the settings to automatically collect the IP address of the new modem.  A very simple solution.

The internet provider had no idea what the problem was or could have so just made a wrong statement that it was a Microsoft Windows problem.

Your time and expertise is really appreciated.

  • Windows does not detect my network

I just reinstalled Windows XP on my computer that previously had Windows 7 RC on it. I couldn't figure out how to get my internet connected, so I searched online on our other computer. (This one) It says to turn off my computer and connect the Ethernet cable from my router to my PC. I did, turned my computer and still no internet. Just before when I still had Windows 7, I could connect fine.

Here's how I'm connected by the way:
    Comp. 2 connected wireless.
Modem (DSL) - router (SMC Networks)
    |
    |
Comp. 1 (connected by Ethernet cable)
So, how can I get Windows XP to connect? I still need to update to SP3 of SP1.
Also, when I click on show all connections, or whatever, it shows nothing.

I think I know the problem. I double click on controller Ethernet and it says that the driver for this device is not installed. I clicked Reinstall... automatic and manual for those who do not work because I can't connect online. So, how can I install the driver?  Here, the support is great. Thank you guys!

    I have windows vista.
In the laptop manual writes only: connect the built in modem only telephone lines analog ordinary not online (PBX) or digital (ISDN)

My line is to the PSTN of OTE. Someone help me?

    Hello

Unfortunately I have m no expert on this subject, but according to an article in Internet the PSTN Public Switched Telephone Network is an old international telephone system, that supports analog transmission via copper cable.

I think that the modem should work.
First, you must remove the modem driver and remove the modem region Select profile.
Then download the driver of modem for the Greece and create and configure the new profile in the utility region modem selection.
That I me remember this utility is located in the folder Toshiba-> network-> Modem region select.

    Hello

When traveling abroad, how can I set the internal modem to my laptop for the correct country setting?

    Thank you

    Hi Silas

Countries are often individual specifications for communication over telephone lines.
In order to provide the appropriate parameters for other countries, you travel to your modem, select the region Select utility in your Start Menu > programs > Toshiba Internal Modem or Start Menu > all programs > TOSHIBA > Networking > Modem region select.
By clicking on the region Select utility, an icon is generated next to the position of s of clock in the taskbar.
When you click this icon, a list from which you can select the country of your comings and goings. Clicking on an entry in the country, your modem is configured with the required communication parameters.

Region Select utility provided with the operating system preinstalled on laptops with an internal modem. You can also install your modem from the CD of tools & utilities Toshiba driver to get this utility. On some laptops, the parched region Select utility is called "country select utility.

    ·         What operating system do you use?

    ·         Your computer is on a domain network?

Try these steps and see if it helps.

Step 1: Run the network troubleshooter utility.

    (a) click Start, type Manager of devices in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) Device Manager window opens, expand the network card.

  • LaserJet M1536 printing and scanning Issues (cable network)

    Good,

So I have a LaserJet M1536 I installed the drivers on my computer to WIndows 7 (64-bit). It worked fine for printing until last night and I can't for the life of me it works again.

I have the computer plugged into the network, and it worked until I tried to scan a document. It would not work, and then after that nothing would print. The e-print on a mobile device will work but not from my windows machine. I tried to run the doctore scan and it says everything is working.

I then uninstalled the drivers and I downloaded the latest version of the HP technical support.  Still doesn't solve it.

After that, I have disabled the firewall on the computer (the windows firewall and the firewall that comes with my suite Norton anti-virus. Still no luck.

I restarted the printer, my PC, my network (modem and router) several times.

Is someone can you please help me solve my problem, because it is really holds my productivity and I spend a lot of time on this issue.

What I am doing wrong? The only thing I have not tried is assign a static IP address to the printer.

Thanks for letting me know TFroehlichIII.

What type of router you use, or you use a server like the one mentioned post?

When you add the printer port, must be a TCP/IP port.

I have a few other things you can try.

Power cycle the router, restart the computer, then on the printer.

Check the IP address, to ensure that it is the same thing.

Then run the Add Printer Wizard.

You can always restore your computer to an earlier era where everything was working properly. It could be a Windows Update or a router that has caused this problem.

    For Windows 7 system restore.

How to refresh, reset or restore your PC on Windows 8.

If the problem persists, I recommend to call the HP Technical Support for assistance. They can remotely to your computer and see more of what's going on. Call the 800-474-6836. • Reliance Netconnect + Modem does not connect to the Internet in 2301AX G6

For the past 15 days, my Reliance Netconnect + modem is usually not able to connect to Internet even the signal bars are full. My HP G6 (Win 8 OS) 2301AX was purchased in February 2013. In a short time after purchase, the laptop faced serious questions of heat, and I had to apply thermal paste to cool the system. Although the modem worked perfectly until the beginning of April, this strange problem began. Only once until I met this problem 2 months before and one day all of a sudden the problem is solved on its own! Release with confidence because what the error msg was "the remote computer did not. To make sure that the server can be reached, please ping the remote computer. "They said that there were network update going on in my community, and it is resolved after a few days. Then I went to the center of the modem service and got the modem checked. No problem, and the modem was perfectly to connect to the Internet at high speed!

Strager thing is if you hold press the strong modem for awhile, sometimes the modem was connect to the Net, and the speed was great! This was for 1 port USB 2.0 and 2 other USB 3.0 ports. Pen drives, digital camera and smartphones were connection correctly however.

To solve the problem, I contacted HP and followed their advice "uninstall the USB controller drivers and restart the computer. Nothing happened. Then reinstalled Win 8 and updated all the drivers. Nothing improved. I'm not even where the root of the problem might be. All the USB ports on the laptop can't die just in one year! Help, please.

    Hello world

Solved problems of network modem connection!  Visited HP service center. They said that this situation occurs because incorrect drivers. They recovered the system partition and reinstalled the operating system. And voila! Everything has returned to normal and the modem has detected on all 3 USBs. Thanks for all the help!

  • Switched network problem

I have a TP tx2 with a built-in modem that tests very well through the 'modem check"in troubleshooting tools (windows help). He composed fine and handshakes during the test. But when I try to dial a number using dialup networking modem will not dial. I confirmed this by listening to on the phone. What can I do to get the modem to dial?

So far I tried to uninstall and reinstall the modem and change the com port from three to one.

    Hello

Did you properly configured the remote access tab of the menu, Internet connection, IE tool connection.

Make sure that the DialUp never a connection is not checked.

  • To connect to a shared folder between PC - error Code 0 x 80070035 "network path not found."

I have a client with 8 computers on a workgroup network.

Among youth, 2 computers not talking to each other or to connect to shared folders on the other drive. Both computers will speak on other computers on the network (wireless).

I looked at all the solutions that have been validated for the message Error Code 0 x 80070035 "network path not found." and none of them have solved the problem. I can't ping one computer to another. I noticed that when troubleshooting on the PC (both are desktop windows 7), 'client' that when I ping the other PC it returns an IPV4 (192.168.x.x) address, but when I ping another PC on the network returns an IPV6 address. I tried to turn off IPV6 adapter in the network adapter settings. It made no difference. I searched several 6to4 adapters in Device Manager, but only 1 exists. Turn it off did not seem to make a difference. As I said, both PC's are accessible by other computers on the network (wireless), but they cannot access each other.

Restart both computers several times (including cold starts and stops).

The only one I don't have not tried yet is releasing and renewing the IP address on both.

    Any suggestions?

    Well I fixed it myself.

In this case, there was a number of things I've done.

First of all, I checked to make sure that the firewall is not the issue. It wasn't.

Secondly, I checked the network connection to see if it has been set to the office network. One of them was, and that we have tried to connect to a was created for the Public network. Who changed the network and restarted.

Who has not solved the problem.

Finally, in desperation more than any other thing, I restart the network modem.

Guess what? That fixed the problem.

So, I guess it was a problem of ARP table or some other problem. When I tried to ping from the "client PC' on the shared drive PC, the IP address was 192.168.1.65. When I got the customer go to the drive shared PC and check the IP address it is 192.168.1.69.

Restart the modem and the "client PC" has solved the problem.

    Question
Why my computer is locking up or reboot when I try to load a game?
    Response

If your computer is locking up or reboot (restart) when you try to load a game, it's probably because of the network card in your computer. Linksys, NetGearand some SMC- network brand cards have problems of compatibility with many games of Pogo . The three brands are very common and are frequently distributed by cable modem / DSL providers. If you are connected to the Internet via DSL, cable modem, or through a home network, chances are good that one of these cards is installed on your computer.

Our suggestion is to try to download and install the Machine virtual Java Sun Microsystems (it is different from that of Microsoft). This solves the problem for many of our users who have had this problem, and it can work for you. Here's how to get Sun Java VM:

    • Go to the home page of Sun Java .
    • Click the downloads link in the upper right corner of the homepage of Sun Java .
    • The page will automatically detect your operating system and your browser. Click Download now to start to download the plug-in.
      • If you get an ActiveX warning, you must accept it so that the Java software must be installed.
      • When the license agreement screen, read the agreement and click Yes.
    • When you are prompted, choose the default installation , and then click Next to continue
    • When the installation is complete, you will be asked to restart your computer now or later. Select restart now.
    • After your computer has restarted and you're online, go back and try to play again.

Unfortunately, if this does not work for you, the only resolution we have left for you offer is to replace the Linksys network adapter or NetGear with that of another brand such as 3Com and D-Link.

    Hope this helps,

    Barbara

  • SF200 48P... Need some advice

Hello and thank you for reading my post.

I currently have a small network that looks like this... SMC cable modem (with static IP) > RVO16 > connected to some computers and printers > 4 port linksys switch > connect multiple PCs and POS.

    What A location.

I have another place that looks like this... Cable modem (dynamic IP) > RVO82 > connected to computers, printers and the POS.

    What location B.

The locations are connected by a tunnel that is used daily and intensively.

Here are the changes that will happen at A location, I have purchased ip phones and we'll be adding several new computers, printers. all to be connected to the new SF200 48P I bought. It was mainly for ip phones and the POE ports, but looks like it should work well for the whole of the network.

Should I be setting up small VLANs to say each office which will consist of one IP address and telephone, computer and printer..., there will be about 8-10 like this.

I want to keep offices and connected places and maintain security at a good level. I need quality of Service for ip phones.

Not really sure if I should use the RVO16.

Also wondered if maybe the RV180W-A-K9-NA would be a good choice instead of the RVO16 because it also has VPN.

I intend to update location B with a new switch, IP phones, computers and printers as well. (next year as cost is the factor of this year)

    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Steve

Hi Steve, the RV016 supports multiple subnets and VLANS based left only.

The RV180 much better address this traffic because it supports the 802. 1 q VLAN.

  • Installation of Win XP OS on Portege 3490CT

I'm trying to install XP Pro on my 3490CT. Looking at this forum, it seems that a large number of owners of 3490CT is installed this OS on the unit.

Can anyone provide me with the Protocol of installation for this facility? What do I need, what order drivers need to be installed, etc.? I have all the drivers known for this unit of W98, W2k, and made interesting enough XP (Toshiba's official US site).

My unit has 384 k ram, and media port replicator.

I already posted a request on this forum that explains in detail the problem I had with XP on this unit (1 / / 6/06 - aswnys).

The operating system works well but I have no communications function at all; [i.e. internal network/modem, network on the port replicator, usb device (wireless) network, the network (cable/wireless) pcmcia card all cannot be enabled in the operating system].

Has anyone installed XP on this unit and has the function of comprehensive communication (modem/network]?

The aircraft had W2k installed. Installing XP is an upgrade that includes SP2.

I would appreciate any guidance on this.

    Hi Andrew

It's always a great challenge to install newer OS on older models. Try to install the operating system and if you need drivers for some hardware components to write again. Maybe we can identify the hardware parts and find the drivers to download from producer page.

Please let us know how it works. I have a Portege 7200 but I didn t try installing WXP yet.
