Solaris station instead of dedicated machine?

In analogy with CallManager where it is possible to use a PC to place can a machine dedicated, I use a station with Solaris as a sensor? If it is possible, what are the requirements and how do I install it?

Thank you

Not supported.

The initial cost for the installation of the software on your pc can be cheaper initially, but when looking at maintaining long-term costs that the unit is less expensive to maintain over the long term. Just pay a cost of maintenance of the device (hardware and software) where otherwise you may pay alimony for hardware, operating system, and then for the software ID. When you order a unit you know it's going to work with the software and it usually have upward and running in 15 minutes or less. In a software model alone, this could take several days to get you loaded OS and try to understand what patches should be loaded and then load the software ID. Then you might find that you need more memmory, or the NETWORK card you have is not supported with this ID software, or you need a BIOS more later for best performance on the sensor. Then, you must devote the time necessary to secure your operating system so that hackers cannot access your sensor. Software only users spend a lot of time, simply lift the area underlying and executed the way it needs to, and then the only provider ID software wraps to spend a lot of time to support to help him get to the top and running.

So, you pay a little more to the front costs for a device that has already been fully qualified by Cisco. The software appears first. The operating system is already patched and specially adapted to the performance of the IDS. The operating system has already been obtained and comes with the encryption protocols. Cisco provides updates for the two unerdyling OS and drivers and the ID software in handset packages, so you don't need to check each week for the additional OS patches. If the extra cost for a camera is, for the time that you don't have to spend, do these things.

When you have a problem call you just Cisco TAC for support, but with a single software solution you will need to call IDS supports which may have to refer you to Microsoft or Sun in charge who can submit to the Dell helpdesk which send back you to support IDS and that person not being able to get your sensor upward and running.

I set up the fax on my new HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus & the fax at the end past all test report & yes I used the good cable for the phone (the one that came with the fax) However when someone calls, the fax picks up the call rather than the answering machine.

Can someone tell me how to fix this please?

If you get only fax from time to time, I suggest to turn off the auto answer on the 8600, and when you hear the fax tone, * #123 to tell the fax machine to pick up. In this way, you can leave your answering machine like that and do not miss faxes.

Oracle's Web site has a couple. I wrote an article great admin on how to create areas of high availability (the short name of containers) to http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/content/submitted/ha_containers_zfs.jsp. You can check out http://www.sun.com/software/solaris/containers/faqs.jsp which has links to a lot of Solaris container information including how servers solaris 8/9 p2v.

One thing to note on this subject, is that if you create the flar on a SPARC box, you need to install the image on a SPARC box. (that is to say physical SPARC Solaris 8 needs to be installed on a SPARC Solaris 10 zones and Solaris 8 containers installed package server.) The containers are not cross platform compatible.

  • I have my time capsule for base station; How do I set up just for Time Machine?

For several years, I have used Time Capsule as a wireless base station more backup Time Machine. I back up a Macbook Air (single user) and iMac with 2 users (two computers running on OS X 11.5). With Comcast Xfinity I need is more like a base station. In fact, I reset my router Xfinity name and password to replicate what was the name and the password to my Time Capsule network. But, now that it's done I can't understand of set up time capsule without set it up as a base station. The installation guide seems to suggest that I could do so by plugging the ethernet cable from the modem to an ethernet port which is not the WAN port. But this configuration did not work. The installation wizard only took me the steps to set up a wireless network. How can I simply we it with Time Machine as an external hard drive?

The installation wizard only took me the steps to set up a wireless network. How can I simply we it with Time Machine as an external hard drive?

Simply turn off the time Capsule wireless.

To do... Open AirPort Utility, click on the Time Capsule, then click on modify in the window that appears

Click on the Wireless tab at the top of the next window

Change the setting for the Mode of network on 'Off '.

Click Update to save the changes

But... and this is a big BUT... This work of pourrait ... and maybe not. Even if the backup on the Comcast network seems to be working, there will be no help from Apple in case of questions or problems of backup.

The reason is that, so that your Time Machine backups be supported officially by Apple, users must save on the Time Capsule wireless, or connect their Mac (s) directly to one of the three ports LAN <>- on the Time Capsule using a wired Ethernet cable connection.

  • 1 Intel s 6 VM mobile too 2 AMD - AMD machine who?

Morning, I'm currently running virtual machines on a single i7 5/6 - 27 k @ 4.5 ghz. When all virtual machines are running, I tend to get the 95-100 CPU usage. Each virtual machine runs 2-5% CPU when idle, but once the execution of applications DirectX all replacements too between 20 and 25 percent by VM (on the host). The machine is still usable for web browsing or streaming movies, but not much else. I have all the elements outside the motherboard / CPU to move the virtual machine from the PC to an other (s). I need the virtual machine for the job, but I am a big gamer and I have dedicated machine (s) to the virtual machine. Each VM machine is running windows 8.1 has access to 4 cores 2 GB of RAM and 35 GB of disk space. The virtual machine is divided between 2 SSD.

I'd rather have 2 machines and as AMD seems pretty cheap that I would be able to run 3 VM on a £100 (like A10 7700 k 3.8 ghz) AMD processor that's 10 years I used an AMD processor and although I looked at various benchmarks I don't think that this would translate directly to execution of several machines VMS. The host will be 64-bit Windows 8.1 because the guests.

  • Director vCloud on dedicated host

    Hello

We have built an infrastructure vCloud putting machines vCenter vCloud on dedicated computers, rather than on an ESXi host as a virtual machine. The reason is that for the purpose, we have a fairly old machine for ESXi host to test, the only one we have with supported hardware virtualization.

Is it possible to develop a cloud in this way and if we do some extra things to make it work?

We could put the whole cloud until the point that we can access the cloud Manager web gui and added the VirtualCenter with the esxi host and the vshield running on that put us experience difficulties in all means of deployment a paralytic on the cloud.

    Thanks in advance

    fejese

There is no obligation to use virtual machines for vCenter Server, Oracle DB or vCloud Director.  It should work perfectly on a dedicated machine.

If you have problems other than the power of vApp on issue you mentioned in the other thread please provide the details of what you were doing and relevant newspapers vCD extracts.

  • VirtualCenter is necessary to put in place the virtual machine on an ESX Server?

Hello! I'm new to VMWare and and I'm trying to implement some virtualized servers. I have a machine I want to run a virtual machine with Windows Server 2008 and a virtual machine with Arch Linux. I have a copy of vSphere 4.0 and ESX Server operating system linux installed correctly on the server computer. I tried to use the Infrastructure Client from my desktop Windows 7 Professional to create the new virtual machine, but I get to the part 'Select the data store' in the wizard and shows me that I have not created from data stores. I have not found a way to create databases in client infrastructure, and most things on the internet speak do with VirtualCenter.

I tried to install the VirtualCenter on Windows 7 server, and initially, I got the error when he could not find the ADAM directory. Then I installed the version of Windows 7 to ADAM, ADLDS, who created c:\Windows\Adam and seemed to be backward compatible enough to allow installation to get a little further, how it failed and said that he was unable to create an instance of directory services.

I fought this thing and Googling all the problems that I ran now for more than 48 hours. I was hoping that since I don't have more than one physical server to manage, and I don't have a dedicated machine which can be VirtualCenter Server all the time anyway (my office is dualbooted with linux, where I spend most of my time), it would be possible to do without.

    Any help appreciated,

    Matt

Hi and welcome to the forum,

you don t need a vCenter if you have a single server. You can use the vSphere Client to manage the server.

If I understand you, you have already installed the ESX Server and a local data store.

Now you can download the vSphere Client by opening the Web page of your ESX Server. Type http://<> address >

Install the Client and you are able to create Virtual Machines.

You can also use the ESXi Version.

But I recommend you read some VMware papers like this

  • Dell SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Docking Station model: D3000 lose 2nd monitor connection

My Dell SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Docking Station model: D3000 is connected to my Dell Inspiron 17R 7720 SE as well as two external disk drives, an external DVD drive, printer and speakers as well as an external monitor.  Recently, I took my laptop on a trip, and when I got home, when I reconnected it it to the docking station it is no longer recognized my external monitor.

I went through several stages of diagnostics not limited to unistalling then reinstalling the DisplayLink software and accidentally fell on the only action that seems to work - power omitting the Docking station (pulling on the power cord).  Unfortunately, this is a pretty serious action to be taken and the patch does not seem to stick, as I had my second monitor drop out after restarting my computer.

The biggest problem is that I spent over a week trying to figure out where to get assistance for the Docking Station and the DisplayLink software.  It seems that my only alternative is to call and talk to Dell Technical Support, but is very annoying because my work hours are with Dell Technical Support, but it comes to my personal computer.

PS another problem I have with the Station of host USB 3.0 SuperSpeed from Dell which is the rubber feet on my Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7720 are outside the width of the laptop docking Station can be positioned on top of the Docking Station because it slides right out.

I thought I should update the Dell Community in the hope that a few users will read this BEFORE buying a Dell Super Speed USB 3.0 Docking Station.  I would update my opinion on the Dell site, but this is not supported by Dell, after entering a review you can not update.

Since my original post here, I've known some even more frustrating failures.

    1. Failed to connect Ethernet- My Ethernet connection failed, resulting in the loss of connection with my router and although obviously internet.  I made the important diagnosis and it is finally down to pulling on the power cord of the Station of Dell Super Speed USB 3.0 host.
    2. New router connection not recognized- I bought a router of Netgear R6300 WiFi as I bought the Dell Super Speed USB 3.0 Docking Station, unfortunately I can't the device works with the Docking Station in the loop.  It is with the Dell USB 3.0 Docking Station.
    3. -Speaker problems I had problems with my speakers mounted externally which I thought maybe Windows 8 questions but finally came down to problems with the Dell Super Speed USB 3.0 Station home, fixable in some cases of powerfailing the docking station.
    4. Lack of support- Want to know if this could be caused by the software support, I discovered that the consumer is caught in the middle.  The software providing the support bi-ecrans

In summary - I found the Dell Super Speed USB 3.0 Docking Station to be a totally reliable device with the announced characteristics does not always, including: dual screen, ethernet, sleep mode and support of speaker connection.  In addition the Docking Station does not efficiently, requiring two connections and not providing the simplicity with docking stations specific previous Dell machine.

  • Flash media server 3 on VMWare virtual machine

Someone know a FMS 3 can run smoothly on a machine virtual vmware? If so, is there any condition must be aware? Thanks for any adivse.

We do not "officially" support the FMS under a virtual machine running, and I do not recommend the use of a virtual machine for a production server. Developers here systematically to use VMWare to test, then you can have some success using a virtual machine to test your applications.

The biggest problem we have encountered (so far!) using VMWare's virtual machine clock tends to be very nervous compared to a dedicated machine. This Jig can lead to variations in the different operations based on the clock, interpreted by the FMS, particularly in buffer and media data.

  • Question of server FPGA compile

    Hello

I want to implement a system of compilation farm. There is only a PC development (possibly 1 later) and compiles a worker. The question is, the compile Server (one which dishes to the worker of the compilation of the tasks) possible on the same PC used for development, and in the affirmative, he introduced the bottleneck important compared to using a dedicated machine?

    Thank you

    Hi ToeCutter,

The compile server can be on the same PC that is used for development without any problem

' ' ' ' Refer to the getting started with the FPGA document compile farm, available by selecting Start "all programs" National Instruments "FPGA" start-up of the farm to compile FPGA, for more information about configuring and using FPGA compile farm.

Use "localhost" as the host name of the server for your compilations to compile.

Compile farm server uses the same compiling installed tools (Xilinx) on your PC, but instead to directly obtain the LabVIEW project files

It compiles the files downloaded by the user, there is no difference in performance.

    I hope that helps!

    Kind regards

  • MSCS (cluster across boxes)

Microsoft Clustering services acorss two esx hosts.

I have read this document http://www.VMware.com/PDF/vSphere4/r40_u1/vsp_40_u1_mscs.PDF and it says that you should have two physical 1 for pulse (private network) cards and 1 for the public network.

I'm curious if you can use a virtual switch for the beating of the heart instead of dedicating a physical card to the private network for microsoft clustering?

    ! file:///C:/users/ctatro/APPDATA/local/Temp/moz-screenshot.PNG!

Is not possible to directly use a network card.

A NETWORK card is always connected to a vSwitch and contain groups of ports.

For MSCS, work you need to have two virtual NETWORK adapter in the virtual machine.

They can also be in the same portgroup, but this isn't a good configuration for availability at the service of the heart rate (don't forget to configure it on the network, not only in the private network).

Therefore a good solution is use 2 different portgroup that goes on different physical network interface cards.

You can get this by using two different vSwitches or using a single vSwitch with different team for each portgroup policy.

  • Satellite L675 - how to change into another language (Windows 7)?

We recently bought a number of L675s with Windows 7 Home Premium. I installed it with the language = German, but a couple of our staff now came back and asked to have the English instead. The machines came with four languages (English, German, French, Italian), but once installed, it is not possible to change the language. Not even using the recovery disk. What should I do to achieve it - buy the Toshiba Recovery disk support?

    Hello

As far as I know it of not possible to change the language after you have selected the language during the installation process.
So either you will modernize the Windows 7 Enterprise or Ultimate and install a package of multiple language (it is available for the version of Win 7 Enterprise and Ultimate only), or you can buy the here Toshiba Recovery disk:

Hi everyone, shows the first time here.

I use a race T30 2366 XP SP3 have run into a problem with the battery. In a near stupor, instead of the machine properly to stop a few nights ago, I simply closed the lid which turns the computer on Stand by, as opposed to the hibernation. I hid it in a pouch for the night, believing it had turned off.

The next morning, I woke to the computer at a 0% battery indication and an orange flashing, charge light. Since then, I could not charge the battery. I tried to load with the lid open/close and computer power. When it is off, I could get a solid charge for three or four minutes maximum light, then the battery flashing light again. The best I could do is to put the battery in 3% to plug and unplug the power for the few minutes adapter that claims to be the battery several times. This computer is a recent hand for travel, I have no diagnostic ability or experience with it.

All advice on diagnosis and next steps will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
