[SOLVED] Windows 7 hangs during the "you want to allow this program to make changes to your computer.

I was recently on my computer and running windows 7 with happiness and problem free, until I downloaded a file from the internet. When I opened it, windows asked me if I want to allow this program allow changes. However, there is the rub. When I click on 'Yes', the message will disappear, but the computer hangs at the screen has gone even a light, tinted gray, with all of the programs that are still running in the background. It freezes for about 2 minutes and then decides to return to normal, free for me to return to work and navigation. However, the program that I have originally intended to be performed by him to make changes didn't work at all. Confused, I ran over and over again, but with very little success, and the problem continued to appear. I tried to launch a clean boot, but that doesn't help more. Can someone help me please? Thanks :)

Thank you for the support, but I solved the problem.

I did a system restore, and it seems that a microsoft critical update was the culprit of all this? In any case, everything seems to work now and thanks again for all the support and help, I appreciate it a lot :)

I have windows 7 pro 64 bit. I mostly always use firefox. Whenever i opened a new browser, I never got hit with the windows badge and "Do you want this program to make changes to your computer...." or something to that effect. YOu who have windows 7 know what I mean. Of course I click yes, but I NEVER had to do this before. I don't know what changed, what might have happened. I had to have help with some software unrelated to firefox and someone had remote work on my notebook, but he should not have changed browser settings. It is really irritating me to now end to always open the browser now and have to hear that annoying thing and the badge.

If you have a DVD decoder (for example Power DVD) try reinstalling it.

If it is not... Take a look at the following site:

  • Windows 7 hangs during the transfer of data from one drive to another

This problem was pestering me for a long time, well over a year.

When I transfer data from one disk to the other (generally large amounts), the computer crashes and I get a blue screen or it just restarts.

Initially, I thought it was a faulty hard drive, so I replaced that, but the problem persisted. I ran diagnostics of smart drive on all my drives and no problems have been picked up.

Then I replaced my RAM assuming there that all. The problem continues.

Then I replaced the video card. The same problem.

I then upgraded to windows 10 and the problem became more acute, so I rolled back to windows 7.

The SSD has the latest firmware, the latest graphics card drivers.

I think now it is one of the following two issues:

Also and important you need to update this driver since 2005.  It is a known problem in win 7 (ASACPI.sys)

Pre 2009 this driver version is a known cause of BSOD.

Please visit Asus tek computer Inc. - support - drivers and download p7p55d the

Go to c:\windows\system32\drivers to check and make sure that the file asacpi.sys is stamped 2009 or 2010 (not before).  If you are using Win 8 there are at least a 2012 version that is needed for this.  If you can't find it on the site of ASUS you can download using windows update.  Read about it here

  • UAC message "do you want to allow the program following an unknown Publisher to make changes to your computer?

I have read many reviews of Microsoft on the UAC, but they don't give practical information.   I'm always intrigued by it.

I have a (crimson edit) text editor which gives this message when it starts.   My answer is Yes.

-Why this response is not recorded so that it does not ask me the same question whenever I run the program?

-If you think that this program is from an "Unknown Publisher", why you have not provided a way for me to tell you who is the Publisher?

I can't have UAC active if he'll ask me whenever I run my text editor.   You explanations so far do not get to the real issue.

There is a long story for why it is, but the short answer is:

This occurs when unknown programs try (unsigned) write data to files protected system or the registry settings and UAC asks your permission.  This type of activity could be dangerous at any time, so he invites every time.

To solve these problems is to uninstall the program, and then install it somewhere other than the Program Files folder or the top of drive C:... somewhere like your user folder would make perfect.  Then the program can run in the default security context and still access write itself (its own records), which is the usual culprit.
