Somehow my windows xp C:\Documents and Settings\Users\Local Settings\Temp folder to store all the files inside?

Somehow my windows xp C:\Documents and Settings\Users\Local Settings\Temp Dungeon folder all files inside that has occupied almost all of my computer hard disk free space. I thought that it will remove al temporary files or folders automatically?

My hard drive has 700 MB of free space suddenly dropped to 24MB

I don't have any software and hardware change? When I turned on my computer running windows xp to pop a dialog box in the taskbar saying that my hard drive is running out of free space. After checking the problem, I discovered this Dungeon C:\Documents and Settings\Users\Local Settings\Temp folder, all files inside that occupied almost everything my computer hard drive free space.

I thought that the temp folder automatically clean the cache file and the folder after some days, can someone tell me why temp folder stores all the files and folder used almost all the free space from my hard drive?

Here's what JoseIbarra aka aka aka ElderL A.User I thought.

  • Deliver the profile of the user - My Documents folder moved to C:\Documents and Settings\TEMP. I can't view or access this folder to copy My Documents back. Help?

XP Home SP3 on my laptop (no not in network - independent).

After an Adobe Reader 10 X installed, there is a reboot, and when I logged in the profile that appeared was not mine - it was as if it was a new installation. I looked for my personal documents under My Documents and did not find them. So, I looked for them on the C: drive, found (no not noted where), and copied My Documents to what seemed like the name /my Documents /. After that, I could access my documents by clicking Start-My Documents online. I did another reboot. Now, after login, my old profile is displayed, and the My Documents folder is empty except for the value by default my pictures, my music, my videos, and favorite - and these are all basically empty.

I then ran a program Search and Recover to find my documents - they were found under C:\Documents and Settings\TEMP\. Unfortunately, I can't seem to see that to explore (I have it configured to display the hidden files and folders). Is it possible to go to this folder and the moving my Documents back to my profile?

    Hello

    You can view these methods:

    Method 1:

Check to see if the problem exists in Safe Mode, if the computer works as expected in mode without failure, then we can solve the problem in the clean boot state.
    a. refer to the article below for the procedure safe mode in Windows XP
A description of the options to start in Windows XP Mode

Note: When you are finished troubleshooting, follow the steps as explained in the article to reset the computer to start as usual.

    Method 2:

System Restore takes a "snapshot" of critical system files and some program files and the registry settings and stores this information as restore points. If your computer is not working properly, you can use these points to return Windows XP to a previous state when your computer was working properly restore. It can also change scripts, batch files, and other types of executable files on your computer.

In this story, I can't click anything that runs - IE without access to the internet or anti-virus software, I think its something to do with rstrui.exe or rundl32.exe.

Secondly, I do not get the first error message on my account but I can't run any programs. He can't know what to use to open it. But the guest account seems to work very well.

    Hi Robzy_k4,

You will need to update your antivirus and run a full scan of the system in safe mode, until you see that your system has no infection found.

Once your system is virus-free, your desktop and eerything should be normal. It is likely that you are not able to open exe files open with dialog box:

You will need to rename regedit.exe to regedit.com (my computer-> tools-> option-> view file-> remove tickmark to "Hide extension for known file types"-> ok-now right click on local disk C:\WINDOWS\ online search of regedit.exe rename regedit.com).

Then click on Start-> Run Type &-> Regedit-> ok.

    Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Classes\Exefile\Shell\Open\Command
(you will have to press on + to achieve order)

Now, double-click default slot right windows and then change the value in this box for '%1' % *.

    Repeat the same for HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Exefile\Shell\Open\Command

Close regedit, restart your pc and check if its working.

Now on the connection of your brother, once all the steps above are performed, click Start-> run, type & -> regedit-> ok navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER-> software-> Microsoft-> Windows-> CurrentVersion-> Run and on the right side, find the key that point to crss.exe in the temporary location and delete it.

  • In XP Documents and Settings, are files under Admin, default user, all users, and duplicate files etc?

I see in Windows XP under Documents and Settings administrator, all users, default user and owner records. This is a duplication of files? I'm trying to clean up my hard drive and I would like to have just a structure, such as the owner or the administrator. Can I get rid of all the others and save a workspace of dick? How do I do that?

    * original title - more disk space? *

N ° don't get rid of one of these data structures, or later, you'll be sorry.

For everyday use, you should use the profile of 'owner '.  All your documents, music, images and other data must be different subdirectories to the title of owner.

The administrator is a built-in account for emergency use administrator privileges (for example, if your daily profile becomes corrupted).  Probably, you don't see administrator on the Welcome screen.

Every user is an account that is used to share data between different users.  If there is only a single user defined on your computer, there should be very little in every user account in the "My Documents" of this profile part, but some applications that you have installed may have placed hidden files in different folders in the profile all users.

Default user is a model that is used to create new user profiles.

If you are interested in which is placed on your hard drive, download and run JDiskReport.

If you fear that you progress low hard drive space, there are a few things you can do, but all of them are essentially temporary measures.  If you're really under out of space on your hard drive, you can buy a bigger hard drive.

Run Disk Cleanup (start > run > cleanmgr.exe > OK)
    Adjust system restore space

  • Rename the username under C/Documents and Settings?

How to rename C/Documents and Settings/username folder?

    Hi sed12,

-Why exactly you are trying to rename the Documents and Settings username folder?

Rename a user account via the computer management console or the user accounts applet is not rename the associated user profile folder.

Note: Although you can move or rename the user profile folder, there may be some side effects after using this method. For the reason that there may be a few references path absolute (to the old user profile folder) in the registry added by third-party software. Therefore, there may be a loss of functionality in the respective applications.

Therefore, I you recommend to create an another user profile with a different name and then copy the contents of the current profile to the new user account.

  • Where can I find the Documents and Settings folder or the folder on Vista?

I need to find a Real Player file file so I can delete it, but am unable to find the floder Documents and Settings.  I need to delete a file called treestate.dat but am unable to find... Help, please!

    In Windows Vista user profiles

In Windows XP, 2000, 2003, user profiles are stored in c:\Documents and Settings. In Windows Vista, the profiles are now stored in c:\Users. You will see a folder c:\Documents and Settings in Windows Explorer in Vista, but you will also notice the shortcut icon on the folder, and you will not be able to access this folder. c:\Documents and Settings is now a junction Point. You can use the random dir command to see where c:\Documents and Settings point to or use the table below.

The following table lists the old profile path and the new path under Windows Vista.

    Old path

    New path

    \Documents and Settings

    \Users

    \Documents and Settings\Default User or
    %LogonServer%\NETLOGON\Default user

    \USERS\DEFAULT or
    %LogonServer%\NETLOGON\Default

    \Documents and Settings\\My Documents

    \Users\\Documents

    \Documents and Settings\\My Documents\My photos

    \Users\\Pictures

    \Documents and Settings\\My Documents\My Music

    \Users\\Music

    \Documents and Settings\\Favorites

    \Users\\Favorites

    \Users\\Contacts

    \Users\personal

    \Users\Public

    \Documents and Settings\All Users Menu

    \ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start menu

    \Documents and Settings\All Users\Bureau

    \Users\Public\Desktop

Records to take note of here are the folders in the path of all users. Many legacy applications that use outdated methods to solve the system folders, will solve the railways under C:\ProgramData when looking for common places. For example, the joint office can be resolved as C:\ProgramData\Desktop, however; This is actually a point of junction for C:\ProgramData\Users\Public\Desktop. A random entry in the C:\ProgramData folder dir reveals the following Junction Points:

  • Why have I not 2 folders of paper? We are in c:\documents and settings and the other in c:\users

I have 2 files in Windows 7 and they appear almost the same. One is c:\documents and settings\name\Mydocuments and the other is c:\users\name\MyDocuments. Can I move all the files the c:\users folder and then delete the folder c:\documents and settings?

    They are the same file.

C:\Documents and Settings\ is an alias used to ensure the compatibility of older programs.

This name is hidden if you are using the default options in the Folder Options > view. Unchecking "Hide protected operating system files" causes the file name to become visible.

  • If I decrease my first partition where I installed my windows 7 which has 100 GB of space available go I lose all the files of the OS or data?

    Hello

If I decrease my first partition on which I have installed windows 7, which has 100 GB of available space, will I in bulk all the files of the OS or data on my first partition?

    Thank you

    Johan

    Johan,

Before you begin this task, assume that you will lose everything.

Make a system image - see link on the left side of the opening screen of Windows backup.

Make a disc repair system [this can also be done starting from a link on the opening screen of the Windows backup] or a Windows 7 installation disc to use to restore this image if necessary.  Then test that you can boot from it before starting the main task.

I resized a partition with no problems successfully, but there is a risk of serious or even catastrophic problems.

    Good luck

  • All Windows XP Documents and Settings folder names caps

We use XP in a business environment. Recently, we have noticed that some user in "Documents and Settings" folders on a particular machine have changed randomly to be appointed with all caps. This causes problems with their profiles. What could have caused this?

In addition, some files have changed to say the username followed by a point and our domain name. Do not know what is happening. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Windows keeps cases in the names of files and folders, but when you access to files and folders, it is case-insensitive (i.e. upper/lower case is not serious).

Records of the changing profile of user name directly to a username followed by a point and a domain name, on the other hand, comes following a corrupt user profile.  Corrupted user profiles usually occur as a result of (or comes from) the corruption of the file system.  Corruption of system files may result in the capitalization of the problems that you notice.  To recover a corrupted user profile, choose your method of the following:

"How to recover damaged Windows XP user profile"

"Windows XP problems if your profile is corrupted"

"How to copy data from a corrupted to a new profile in Windows XP user profile"

As file system corruption is very marked, you must also perform a check disk (chkdsk) operation with the "/ R" or "Repair" option to ensure that your file system is in good shape:
