Someone help me - Vista system restore & all photos and docs disappeared!

Started my laptop this morning and was hit with malware/spyware. Could not delete of course I did a restore of the system since last Thursday. Now, I have no photos or documents. I open Windows Media, clicked on one of the dates and literally watched my photos fade. Someone help me please! 'Restoration', said the files, photos, etc. would not be affected.

Just an idea that might be worth a try...

Is it possible that your files are still there but have
become hidden?

Reach... Control Panel / folder Options / View tab.
... To check "Show the hidden files and folders" / apply / OK.

If the photo thumbs reappear... they can turn washed
outside. To clear this up... right click a thumbnail or a
selected (highlighted) group or folder and the
menu... Choose... Properties, uncheck the box.
'Hidden' / apply / OK.

    Hello
All of my documents and photos are missing after a system restore. Here's the story. A virus called "Windows Recovery" popped up earlier and I did a system restore to get rid of him. To restart the computer, all my files and photos were missing. I used the system restore in the past in similar situations and have never had any problems. I opened MS Office, and I found some documents in the recent documents list. They open up fine and I saved them, but is only some of the documents. • All my photos and some tax data is lost after a system restore-all path to recover

I had a virus or a spyware called windowsrepair.  The computer would not get past the repair screen I did a system restore which seems to have worked except that all my photos and documents have disappeared.  What I've done wrong? and is there a way to recover them?

For a moment I thought you could run under a profile different than the original but your report says otherwise. Since the system restore does not affect the user files, the damage must have been made by the virus. I restore files from the backup media, and then introduce a robust backup routine.

Today, I think I discovered perhaps the underlying problem. Finally, I got fed up and decided to do a system restore, after hours of research and try all kinds of solutions on these forums (none worked). So now he is suspended from the system restore. Suspicious to me that when the windows update crashes is on the screen where it says create restore point.

    Hello

You should go to the system manufacturer's website and get the latest network drivers wifi and card.

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AS ADMIN - REBOOT after each driver.

Maybe the other pilots. software and updates to the BIOS, you can get there.

Control Panel - Device Manager - double-click on a device and check the version.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

  • Helps the Vista system recovery

    Hello.
I have Vista on my desktop. Recently, a friend told me that I was able to connect my Xbox 360 to my pc via ethernet. I did, and of course, it did not work. I've disconnected and ended up with something like "the file calculated checksum does not match" or something like that. I havnt been able to access the windows since.

I followed the instructions for the Vista system recovery. Downloaded 64-bit using the binding and the ISO burner. Basically, when it says "Press any key to boot from the CD/DVD drive" I do, but instead to load the screen of Windows recovery process, I usually get an error with this screen below "Windows cannot recognize the digital signature for this driver" once or twice he managed to get that load the files on the disc but then goes back to "press any key...". "and when I do I get 'checksum of the file...". "or whatever. I keep going in circles!

So, that being said... I don't know what to do. Help, please! Thank you!!!

If I understand you correctly, you have downloaded a startup repair disc, NOT a Systrem recovery disk to put it back to factory settings.

Here's how to do a startup repair disk:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
