Songs are in the wrong format and will not play

Although playing a list of songs on my Windows Media Player box appeared and said: the file you are attempting to play has an extension (.mp3) that does not correspond to the file format. Playback of the file may cause unexpected behavior.
How can I change the format for the song will play?
Thank you

==============================
Chances are that the file will play in any case.

Or... maybe worthwhile to try to use the following
freeware to convert .wma format.

Free Mp3 Wma Converter
http://www.koyotesoft.com/indexEn.html
(Mp3, Wma, Ogg, Aac, M4a, Ac3, Ape, Flac, Wav)
(FWIW if you install the converter, you can
Uncheck offerings from Yahoo and Dealio) (also... you
may want to uncheck the CD Ripper and the Easy
MP3 Cutter)
