Sony Walkman device is suddenly not recognized in Windows 7
Windows 7 has stopped recognizing my Sony Walkman NWZ - E438F Media Player since the last update. Do you have a system restore, and it did not help. Restored the walkman to the factory settings, and that did not help either.
The walkman works fine on another computer. I tried all my usb ports - and ports all work with other devices, but do not recognize that there is an external device connected, when I try the walkman. I get power from the usb connection, however.
Hello
Download and install the latest firmware for your drive and check if this solves the software.

Camera Sony HandyCam DCR-TRV280 is not recognized by Windows 7
I have a Sony HandyCam DCR-TRV280, a Toshiba L505D-S5963 running Windows 7 Home Premium 32 - bit. My PC does not recognize the camera. I loaded all drivers and updates to date mentioned above, but when you say to "go into the Device Manager and find the entry for the firewire (IEEE1394) change the driver for the IEEE1394 driver LEGACY and now your camcorder will be able to speak correctly on your PC.", my device driver does not list an IEEE 1394 device. However, I tried to load the copy and save the 1394bus.sys to C:\Windows\system32\drivers file, but it will not accept a .inf, .sys not file. I really appreciate all the information below, but would appreciate a little more help. Thank you
Hello Softail1015,
In addition to the response of Amrita M, please relay exact model number and type of the Sony camcorder. You can also view the link below, provided by the manufacturer of the device that contains compatibility information and pilot for the Handycam from Sony DCR-TRV280 Digital8 camcorder:
http://eSupport.Sony.com/us/Perl/SWU-list.pl?MDL=DCRTRV280&SelectOS=46#div_pos_124
In addition, it seems that the Sony DCR-TRV280 may require an IEEE 1394 connection to transfer the video from the camcorder to the computer. You can also check with the manufacturer of the device to check if the Sony DCR-TRV280 supports the transfer of DV via USB or USB streaming.
You can also view the link below, provided by the manufacturer of the device that describes the steps to know how to transfer video to a computer using an i.LINK (IEEE 1394) connection using the digital camcorder:

I hope this information is useful.
Thank you

DVD not recognized in windows 8
OK, so there was a whole thread on it before - but seems to have now!
Problem: Installing W8 - but now both my PATA Sony DVD discs and player light on Blu - Ray are not recognized in W8. They show as an error in the Device Manager.I tried the registry fix as in the old thread: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/hardware/dvd-drive-not-recognized-in-windows-8/ad546c20-b916-4ad5-9858-52e10610ee14 - but, although he said that he managed, my records always show in error in Device Manager. Will welcome any suggestions! You are welcome. Glad that worked.

Stor.e slim not recognized by Windows 8.1
Hello
A Stor.e slim external HARD drive is not recognized in Windows 8.1 (no problem with Windows 7). When it is plugged in, it s shown as a device not recognized. Driver is requested but not found.
Hello
Stor.E Slim external HARD drive is a 2.5 HDD USB 3.0 and 900mA power it requires to work correctly.
I suppose that there is nothing wrong with this HARD drive, but with your laptop.
8/8.1 win requires different drivers and you will probably need to install a suitable driver in order to get the USB ports work correctly (USB 3.0 as well as the driver additional chipset would be also necessary).

Description of the problem:
Optical drive is not recognized in Windows 8.1 (x 64) or in the UEFI System Diagnostics.
Steps to recreate:
UEFI:
- Start the PC in diagnosis system UEFI (F2 at the STATION)
- Pane controls
- Optical drive
- Sequential control
- Error: Optical drive not installed.
8.1 Windows (x 64):
- Run Device Manager
- Error: No CD/DVD Drives section.
- Search for new hardware changes nothing.
Relevant system specs:
Mobile: HP Pavilion 15-n023sa (construction of vanilla)
Optical drive: HP DVDRAM gu70n
Steps already taken to solve:
- Replaced the DVD drive with one of the similar specs of HP Pavilion. The replaced gn70n perfectly in the other machine. No change on problem laptop. Conclusion: DVD player works, and there is no problems with Windows 8.1 (x 64).
- Removed DVD player. Restarted the computer. Sign in to Windows. Stop. Replace the DVD drive. Start the laptop. This is trying to solve defects of material with the PnP devices; more help to solve any problems of intermittent loose connection. Conclusion: No change.
- Ran, troubleshooting of hardware and devices, via the control panel. Problem found: material changes may not have been detected. Explore more options just takes you through http://social.answers.microsoft.com/search/en-us/?query=hardware+device, that it is a 404 error page. Conclusion: Help and Support Windows is sorely lacking. They show no more information than just that something was detected as incorrect.
- Ran the Microsoft FixIt troubleshooting of optical disc and auto repairman. (http://download.microsoft.com/download/F/5/8/F586FB7C-78E0-40EB-AF41-4C925F803CAF/CDDVDWin8.meta.dia... The convenience store has reported that the device was not found. He recommended to remove all power cables, power off, and various other things which have no relevance for computer laptop troubleshooting of switching equipment. He said: If the problem persists, contact the manufacturer. Conclusion: Windows troubleshooting can not solve the problem.
- Run Windows Update to ensure that all updates and definitions have been installed. Conclusion: Windows is perfectly up to date.
- Run a complete Rootkit and malware using Sbybot S & D 2.3 heuristic analysis. as a signature database scan using Windows Defender. Conclusion: Laptop is clean of rootkits and malware, to the best of my knowledge.
Notes:
The DVD player is NOT appear in Device Manager, OR in this PC.
The DVD drive is NOT detected by diagnostics system UEFI.
There is reference to the DVD in BIOS drive NUMBER , other than as an option of Setup, which is generic.
The DVD player itself, works and has been verified on a different machine.
The only possible conclusion is that the optical drive port mini-SATA on the motherboard is dead.
