Sort (or reorganize) print presets

I have about 15 Presets of Print, named after job. The problem is that InDesign lists in the order that they were created (random), instead of in alphabetical order. Is it possible to rearrange the presets so that the presets to work go hand in hand? (Alphabetically would be well, arbitrary according to my choice would be better).

Dave Saunders, I recently had to wipe my Mac and lost this feature, I had been using for years. I followed it it down here, and it's so good that she is back! ten years later, your script still works a treat, even in 2015 CC InDesign.

I took the liberty to post a (attributed to you) copy for people who want to use it, but may not feel comfortable to work with javascript.

SortPrinterPresets.jsx

To use the script, download it and add it to your folder Script the user Panel.

  • where are the printer presets stored? How to find the .prst files to load into InDesign?

I use InDesign CC 2015 to a new intall of creative cloud on a new hard drive after the old one crashed. I always have access to my files on the old HARD drive and you have copied most of my files on the new drive. When I go to print in InDesign, the program seems to know what settings of the printer, I used on files that I created, but I don't see no presets. When I go to load the application InDesign presets where I should look to load the files .prst and that's what I want to know. They are on the local drive? If yes where? They are on the cloud in my Adobe account where I have my cloud files? I will keep searching my computer, but if someone knows the answer, please help.

Printer presets are stored in the InDesign Defaults, a part of the whole of the preferences file. You should open the ID on the old system and then click on the dialog box define where you can select them and click on save, and then on the new system, you can load the game that you just saved.

  • Location settings print preset (PC)

Where the printing presets are stored on my PC? What is called the file? My IT Department had to change my user profile and I would copy presets from my old profile that is always on the PC and copy the old presets if this is possible. Thank you.

I use InDesign CS5 on Windows XP.

Print presets are stored in the InDesign Defaults file in your user profile. You can save them outside if you choose to leave the print presets > define dialogue. See replace your preferences for details.

  • User can develop, Web and Print Presets be imported/exported?

I add a new SSD with Windows 7 64 bit which will become the new C: drive where LR 4 RC2 must be freshly installed.  I expected import my catalog files which I don't expect any problems that my photo files are stored in the other readers who will not be changed.  Is it possible to import my presets user created from my old drive C: (will be renamed to say drive G :) who have been under Windows Vista 32 bits, LR 2 have been installed, then LR3 and now LR4 RC2? There are many user created presets / files downloaded programs over the years that I use and I want the in the new C: drive. Advice on how to go on this subject and also what else to consider in a perspective of LR before my friend support renames the old C: drive for good?  Thank you

    Yes you can.

Locate where your user presets are stored. Go > edit > Preferences > Presets tab abd click . When you open this folder, you will see a folder named (or similar). That opens and you will find folders for the different types of predefined settings, for example . These are two folders, one is called . This file contains your customized for the develop module presets. Similarly, other files also include records with for example your custom print presets, etc..

Just copy all the settings for the user of all of these files on your new drive where the Lr presets are stored.

The word of caution: If you change the drive letters, you will have to point Lr to new readers.

  • IDCS5 Print presets

I have a print preset to generate a postscript file. In previous versions of ID, the name of the output file is automatically < document name >. Psalm

Now, he's using the name of the document that I had opened when I saved the preset. I just made a new preset without open document, and it is using the same name of document.

Is there a way I can get back to < document name > .ps?

It is pretty radical, but could help to screw up your preferences (see replace your preferences). I recall, pre-defined print settings are stored in the InDesign Defaults file. Before replacing the prefs I would choose all presets in the set... dialogue EXCEPT for the Postscript file and a record so that they can be recharged, then replace the prefs, ID to restart and try to set a new ps file preset with nothing open.

Yes. IN CS4 gop for print presets > define... dialog box select the ones you want to move, and then click Save to save in an external file. In CS5 go to the same dialog box and press the button load, then find the file that you just saved.

  • InDesign Printer Presets

A new printer I will work with me their specifications 'predefined' in a zip file by email.

The zip file contained three files: Composite CMYK.prst, Grayscale.prst and DailyGazette.joboptions.

I don't know where to put the file 'joboptions' (which is for Acrobat Distiller). But where should I place or import the other two *.prst for InDesign files?

    Here's the print presets.

Go to file > print Presets > define

    Load

These are your printers definitions of preset for printing CMYK and grayscale. You can now use these Presets when printing

  • 'Print settings' are not stored in the print preset

    Hello world

It seems that no matter how many times I save and update the profile, all the print settings (size of picture, sharpness, depth of bits, color management,...) store in the preset, all, but the parameters of the Epson driver, which must be selected each time.

I really do not remember if this bug was present in 4.0 or not (I am running 4.1 RC), but I'm sure it worked OK under 3.x. Here's the thing.

    1. I have set up the print settings and create. profile: Profile1.
    2. I have all the settings and create a second profile: Profil2. "Printer setup" settings are different, same printer for color (Profile1) for Advanced B & W (Profil2).
    3. I click mer1 (which was created with the printing of color settings). By clicking 'Print settings' or 'Print', the settings of the printer selected in the epson driver is the ABW (one that belongs to Profil2).
    4. I have to reselect the correct setting of 'Print Settings'... "(Color).
    5. Click 'Save' again
    6. Droi-t click mer1 -> update with current settings. Parameter seems to be saved.
    7. I then click Profil2 and bam! The 'Print Settings... ". "seems to be to color instead of the ABW rverted.
    8. Update the correct settings, return to the point #3

Can you reproduce this? This behavior is vanishig the power of the button 'Print One', unless you print consistently with tha same driver settings.

    I have solved the problem.

The bug is there, because the name of the preset remains the last used, which is wrong.

If you go back to the default ' default ' Epson preset and change all the settings you want, and then click Save and update the Lightroom presetsettings are stored correctly.

You will need to check each preset (I have two dozen) and re - update with the new fix (or bad?) Driver configurations, while you might have faith once again on the button «Print One»

  • Presets of printing - where they are stored?

Where does Acrobat store the print preset page sizes?

Probably stored by Windows in the print subsystem. It will be in the registry, but the keys will be different on different systems.  So really awkward and changing the registry is manually not just things, managed by the print subsystem.

  • print recording module is no presets

I use Lightroom to print pictures on my printer canon Pro 1.  I have an iMac running El Capitan.

I store a print preset for the quality and the media.  For example, I save media as the brilliant and also high quality.  I give the preset a name such as high gloss, but when I go to print again, and select that even preset (high gloss), the media always comes as a canon of Platinum and the quality standard. I can't understand what I'm doing wrong.

    Any help is appreciated.

  • Photosmart 6520: can't get 2 sides Preset to save

I use this printer connected by USB to an iMac running OS 10.9.5,, but this isn't a new problem.

I want to print my bank statements using this configuration: double-sided and odd pages only.  I can't get this save as preset. It seems that when I try to save the current settings as a preset, the margins of Destination Size:U.S Two-Sided Letter paper nor the duplex option are registered.  I also tried to use Long Edge binding and which will not save either.  The same problem occurs if I print in a Safari window or if I save the document in PDF format and try to print from an excerpt.

I have no problem getting the desired result for a single document, but I don't want to change the settings every time I want to print.  Isn't this why we have Presets?

Is this a bug of driver?

    Hello @TigerMO,

I would like to help you today with presets for printing problem you encounter when you print to your HP Photosmart 6520 e-all-in-one printer Mac OS X 10.9 operating system. Because your driver is unable to "Save" Presets for future use, I'll run you through a series of software and driver TROUBLESHOOTING steps below to resolve this issue.

Step 1: Resetting the printing system:

To begin, I will have you reset the printing system on your Mac. Please click herefor instructions on how to perform the reset. When the site opens, follow the steps under"Reset printing in OS X Lion system" because the steps are the same for Mac OS X 10.9. This Reset deletes each printer on your Mac. However, it does not uninstall printers. Therefore, if use you other printers on the Mac, once the reset is complete simply make sure printers are attached via a USB cable or connected network and (+) add hide them po do add not your HP Photosmart back in right now.

Once the reset is complete, proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Uninstall the drivers and software:

Please click here to find out how to properly uninstall your printer. Once the site opens select the drop down menu 'Mac OS X v10.6, OS X v10.7, OS X v10.8 and OS X v10.9' and follow the steps to complete uninstallation.

Once the uninstall is complete, please continue on.

Step 3: Check and repair your Mac disk permissions:

    1. Open Macintosh HD and go to Applications
    2. Go to the Utilities folder
    3. Open disk utility
    4. Select the hard disk volume, you use (usually on the left)
    5. Select verify disk permissions
    6. Once this process is complete, select repair disk permissions

Step 4: Check the Apple updates:

    1. Go to the Apple
    2. Select System Preferences
    3. Select software update
    4. Click update now
    5. Install your available updates
    6. Computer restart

Step 5: Reinstall your software and drivers:

Finally, please click here to download the driver package for your printer. Once the site opens, select the download button at the top left. Once the download is complete, please follow the instructions on the screen to install your printer.

Once your printer is added in, check the driver to make sure that the driver of the HP Photosmart camera is used and not the driver Apple AirPrint.

    1. click on the menu of Apple , then Preferences System.

    2. click on Print & Scan and then check if the name of your printer appears in the printer list.

    3. click on the name of your printer, click the sign minus (), then remove the printer.

    4. click on the plus sign (), click Add a printer or a Scanner, click the name of your printer.

    5. click on the area of use or with the help of Print and then select the name of your printer on the shortcut menu. Ensure that the Photosmart driver is selected.

    6. click Add to add the printer to the list.

Once the printer is properly added to, please try to save printing Presets again to check if the settings to stick this time.

Please reply to this message with the result of your troubleshooting. Good luck!

  • 5520, I don't have the best quality on the predefined menu print option.

Hello, please can help you. I don't have a BEST QUALITY printing on the options menu. I can only print fast draft or quick project black and white as shown below. Please advise, thank you.

    Hey there @lh39!

I should be able to provide assistance on creating a new preset!

Looking at the screenshot your provided it seams like you're very limited to the print settings.  I would recommend open TextEdit on the Mac computer.  TextEdit is located in the application folder.  The only reason why I recommend the use of text edit is just to create the new printer preset for optimal quality.  Once you have TextEdit open go to file and click on print.  You should get a preview window before printing.

    Please follow the steps:

    1. click on "Show details" if it does not say "hide details".

    2. choose "paper Type and quality.

    3. change the quality of 'best '.

    4. click on the drop down preset menu

    5. click on "Save current setting as a preset.

    6. type your name of preses (E.g. best quality)

    7. click on OK and reset your is now registered

When you have finished creating the preset, you should be able to open your original print job and choose your new preset!

Let me know how it goes and thanks again for the display on the HP Forums!
