Sorting of folders in Explorer - shortcuts position could be improved

Is it possible to have shortcuts sorted folders as well as files rather than mixed with normal (or shortcuts to files as well) files?

For more than one reason could be a shortcut to a folder, especially if you have it on another place, perhaps an encrypted drive, regardless.

When I look at a folder that I look through the list of files, which usually appears near the top of the display list.

If it's a shortcut to folder I find more useful and effective to have one of the other folders.

If no parameters are available for this purpose, could someone let microsoft considered this point?

What do you think? I think it's very bad uncomfortable as it is.

Thanks for your comments in advance, best regards

Ricardo

  • Sorting of images based on their position on the page

    How would I go about sorting the images based on their position on the page? I've read a few articles which mention the use of table method fate and checking their x and y values to sort the table. While that works on the page elements that are perfectly aligned with their x and is the axis, it fails on a layout like this. Does anyone have any ideas on how I could create an individual table for line1, line2, Row3 etc based on his position there and then sort them based on their position X and then create the master table combining them in order?

    I'm new to javascript, so it's a bit out of my League. Any help will be much appreciated.

    Hi again,

    I found an idea that seems promising to deal with the issues mentioned above. The main problem, as you have no doubt noticed, is that we cannot simply count about to coordinates (x, y) 'as they are', even after having rounded values, to extract implied rows and columns.

    When we look at the layout below:

    our eyes instantly detect what he expected to be 3 columns and 5 rows, but this underlying order is not immediately accessible from all sort all of the coordinates. We need to improve the algorithm.

    What I propose is to speculate about the gaps that occur on the ordered sequence of coordinates x and y, respectively. To reveal these gaps, we will first sort the data along the x-axis:

    The figure above shows that the width of the rectangles. Each arrow represents a rectangle, and I ordered the elements by increasing x-centers. We can estimate that the element identified #1 belongs to a new group of this simple fact: its left coordinate (red mark) is higher than the coordinated right (blue guide) of the #0element. This observation will give us a strategy to identify gaps in the column.

    Then, the same method is applied to detect the lines. (Sort by values y, identify gaps, based on the progress of the min - max).

    At the end of this process, each object has a (column, row) coordinate pair instead of fragmented values (x, y) . So, we can calculate the final order, i.e. the weight of the comparison function.

    Here is my implementation of this algorithm:

    // ========================================================
    // Up2Bottom and Left2Right Sorting Algorithm
    //   addressing (weakly) sparse rectangles
    // ---
    // Usage: Select the objects, then run the script

    // ========================================================

    const CS = +CoordinateSpaces.SPREAD_COORDINATES,
          AP_MIN = +AnchorPoint.TOP_LEFT_ANCHOR,
          AP_CENTER = +AnchorPoint.CENTER_ANCHOR,
          AP_MAX = +AnchorPoint.BOTTOM_RIGHT_ANCHOR;

        {
        // Collect coordinates and IDs
        // --> {min:[xLeft, yTop], weight:[x,y], max:[xRight,yBottom], id}[]
        for(i=0 ; i < n && (t=sel[i]) ; ++i )
            {
            data[i] = {
                min:    t.resolve(AP_MIN,CS)[0],
                weight: t.resolve(AP_CENTER,CS)[0],
                max:    t.resolve(AP_MAX,CS)[0],
                id:      t.id
                };
            }

        // Find rows and columns [i.e. y-weights and x-weights]

    Thanks for trying to answer.  I used Norton scan. Not sure, malicious software, but the system is now clean. The Explorer is still running the CPU at @ 70%. The processor is running, and make the unit run very slowly.   Jay

    I'm still not, Jay.
    What do you mean by "delete"? Files can be deleted. But programs must usually be uninstalled, which is a different process.
    Also, you seem to be confusing the following three terms:
    Windows Explorer (which, as Brandon2003 pointed out) allows you to navigate your file system. When you open a folder (such as My Documents), you use Windows Explorer. In the Task Manager, it appears as explorer.exe.
    Internet Explorer allows you to surf on Web pages. In the Task Manager, it appears as iexplore.exe (and probably several instances of what appears there).
    The Explorer - I don't really know what it is!
    Both Windows Explorer and Internet Explorer are part of Windows XP. And even if you wanted to delete either, it would be impossible! Of course, you can choose to run an another browser like Firefox, Opera, Chrome, etc instead.
    I'm positive, that you still have malware.
    Certainly, you must run aswMBR:

    You must also perform scans with free versions of Scanner Portable SAS and MBAM.

    For the SAS portable scanner:

    For the of MBAM FREE version (not the pro or trial version! scroll until you get to see the link to download the FREE version!):

  • Option on each folder to sort (sort different folders differently)

    Hello!

    Some of my folders I want to sort (to detail), by name, in other folders I want to sort by Date.  In Windows XP, when I would choose a sort option would apply to this folder.  Now in Windows 7, it seems to have only a single type by default that applies to all files?

    How can I specify rules for different folders of different default sort?

    Thank you

    John Voight

    To all,

    I found great difficulty: simply open the files directly, no not as a library.  Then he remembers its sorting.  Simple as pie.

  • Icons for the video files changed to Internet Explorer shortcuts.

    I accidentally pressed open with internet explorer when I tried to open an important video that I just can't lose, but when I did that he transformed into an internet shortcut and now all my videos have the symbol of the internet Explorer on them in the lower corner and will back up only the short cuts to roughly something like 1.75 bytes When I try to record on the desktop or on a USB key, when I know that the video is much more than that, please help, I need to send soon and I can't if he won't save properly!

    Hi rayan,

    The problem occurs with all the icons of the video?

    If so, I suggest you to set the default program to open the video and check if it helps.

    Choose the apps Windows uses by default

  • I can't save my PDF files. When I hit Save as an empty window appears instead of a menu of files or folders Windows Explorer view. I'm a Publisher and save files under new names of files after changing them. Why can't I just save these files in Adobe DC (

    I run Acrobat Professional so that I can change/brand place/comment in the PDF files. At one point recently I noticed "Acrobat Reader DC" in the name of the file at the top of the page. I do not have ask this or do anything to get there that I was aware of this. I adjusted for the new look of the screen and edited several files without incident. But yesterday, I opened a large file which had been addressed to me in Dropbox. When I downloaded and opened it and tried to change it, the selection tool was not aligned properly, so the selected areas were elsewhere on the page, where the cursor was. I restarted my computer and was able to change the file more or less normally (I noticed more little glitches with this CD player but I can live with them). But when tried to save the file with a new file name, like I always do to differentiate files that changed since the original files, the save window is empty. There is no option to save the file with a new file name. In fact. There is no option to save the file with the changes! I thought maybe it was a problem with this file only, but when I tried to edit a file provided by regular e-mail, I met the same problem trying to save to a new file name. What is the relationship between my old Acrobat Professional and Acrobat Reader DC? Why can't save files normally? I managed to save the changes I did by saving it in the cloud to Adobe (I had to then because I could not send the file by e-mail because of its size - I tried to send it to me)., but I'd rather widely navigate in Windows Explorer to work with files. I suspect that there is some simple aspects about what I am simply absent or do not know. Can anyone help?

    Please take a look at this thread and let us know if we get to the brand:

  • No response from the items on the toolbar and above e.g. 'your account' or 'connect' in case of websites like amazon, facebook etc when in Firefox. works in internet explore. What could be the problem?

    I have Windows Internet explore and Moxilla Firefox on my computer but prefer Moxilla Firefox was my browser if it worked correctly.

    This problem may be caused by the Yahoo! toolbar as scopes as well down and covers the top of the browser window, allowing links in this part of the screen not clickable.

    Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > appearance/themes).

  • Descending order to sort (Ascending vs.) Explorer

    I usually keep my directories sorted by file name.  If I have a directory sorted (in ascending order) and I copy to a new file and right click on the open space and choose ' sort by ', then 'name', it REVERSES the order of file!  The "Crescent" and "descendant" options are grayed out.  Note: She ALWAYS reverses the order.  If I first sort by name (for example it is now in ascending order) and then copy to a file and choose "Sorting nickname", in descending order.  Now, if I copy into another file and choose "Sorting nickname", is in the order of the CRESCENT.  Help!  It's embarrassing.  I suspect that a switch from adjustable to always sort in ascending order simple registry.  Or is there another problem?

    Instead of right clicking on an empty space, try clicking on the arrow next to the display of the toolbar button and select "Details", then click on the 'Name' column and there should be a small arrow above the column indicating the order in which it is in. If you do not get the idea and merges with what is ascendant and descendant, ascendant is sort of a to z and the descent is quite the opposite. Tell me if that does nothing :)

  • I lost the ability to create new folders in Explorer.

    After "right click" on the file, everything I have to the 'News' section in the menu is 'Binder '.  Anyone out there have a solution?

    Hello

    You have a common problem with Windows 7. The work that I and many others use is a utility called FileMenu Tools. You can download safely from this link: http://download.cnet.com/FileMenu-Tools/3000-2094_4-10810545.html .

    After downloading, double-click the name of the file and install the program. Each option is checked by default. I would be much more selective on this subject, otherwise your context menu will be a full page long! When the main window opens, you will see a list on the right side of all the elements that can be added to the context menu. Start weeding through the list and every one to take away, you don't need the United Nationsby checking the box.

    Once you have completed your selection (de-selections) make sure that you click the green check mark in the row of icons at the top of the left window of the interface to 'Apply' of your choice. The program can do much more, but that answers your specific question. I am told that the program has a good help file, so try here if you are interested.

    Let me know if you have any questions.

    Kind regards

      • To configure Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 to use the method used by Windows 2000 for sorting files and folders, in the value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
      • To configure the default Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 method for sorting files and folders, in the value data box, type 0, and then click OK.

        Note When the NoStrCmpLogical value does not exist or it is set to 0 (zero), the Windows XP default sort order is used.

    7. Exit the registry editor and restart the computer.

    You want the first option 6.
