  Why is what Spotify can play songs, but I get the error "Unable to read your test" message when you try to test my speakers? I checked the volume levels already, nothing is mute or low.   I think that this is unrelated to its faulty card but due to the old driver TSRI (Intel Rapid Storage Technology).

  I found a thread on the issue very similar.

  Update TSRI (Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver) to the version V10.1.0.1008 or later to resolve this issue.

  -Plug the headphones and check if you can hear the sound through the headset.

  I suggest to uninstall and reinstall Outlook express on the system and check if the problem is resolved. Follow the steps mentioned below.

  a. Click Start, and then click Run.

  b. type appwiz.cpl in the run box, and then press ENTER. This will open Add and remove programs on the system.

  c. click Add and remove Windows components and look for Outlook Express and then clear the check box that is next to it and click Ok. This allows to uninstall Outlook express on the system.

  d. again to open the Windows component box, place a check mark next to Outlook express and then click ok.

  Note: This will reset the settings for outlook express.

  Check whether the problem is resolved.
