  I wanted to check if Microsoft LifeChat LX 3000 has all the entries in this section and if it has settings to enable or disable speakers when it is installed.  It is obviously the installer to work this way by default--I know not how to change the value by default if there is no entry in the audio section.

  Try to download updated drivers for your sound card - she is in the speakers and contolling the LifeChat for an upgrade can provide options that are not currently available and you should be able to control if both can work at the same time.  While you're there, download and reinstall the updated drivers LifeChat as well.

  OK, I have a headset Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000.  I plugged a Web Logitech c160m camera into a USB port on the back of my PC.  The helmet would not work in conjunction with the webcam as the webcam has a microphone installed in it.  Now I can't play any music with my headphones or watch any video with sound now.  It's so frustrating!   I just bought a Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000 headset, install the LifeChat 1.4 software. The headphones and the microphone are functioning normally, also the command buttons to perform a call and mute, but the buttons for the volume control do not work.   I think you're talking to the Volume Up/Down/Mute box which is a part of the cable from the headphones to the USB connector. It is a plastic box and is sonic welded closed.

  You may need to replace the helmet, since it seems to be a hardware problem.

  3 weeks ago I received my laptop EA60-155 and have experienced ongoing problems with the sound and modem on the laptop. I bought the laptop from currys so am sure that they are an authorized dealer.

  The problem is different, sometimes I turn on the laptop to find out, there is no sond and the modem does not work, sometimes the sound works and makes the modem for about 15 minutes before the problem arises again. I bought the machine to the dealer authorized to Bahrain twice now, twice they said them that the problem was resolved when he doesn't.   If you have this problem permanently, you can try to reinstall the modem and sound card. If the unit is pre-installed with recovery DVDs, it should work fine. As a first step, you can try and remove the sound card and the modem from Device Manager, then restart the device. The two hardware components must be recognized and installed again.

  If there is no success I recommend you backup your data and reinstall the OS using recovery DVDs. On this way the unit will be clean installed and there should not be any problem. Every problem that happens after that can be some hardware malfunction and you must contact the Service partner again.

  Thanks again for the effort, the problem is the sound I get is not released. This problem has been fixed (it was just my mic, echoing my helmet by some Skype problem caused) this is the microphone generating noise that comes out of nowhere, it looks like a rain/Static/hiss noise/white noise and can be heard by everyone I call on Skype etc and can also be heard by me when my system starts and I can hear my mic , I have turned off my speakers, removed my sigmatel audio drivers and it did not help, I tried to start with all other windows drivers stops and same problem persisted. I'm starting to think that it's really a hardware problem as opossed to a software problem. I'll take the headphones back tomorrow and hope that they can tell me more on this subject.

• Bass-Boost enhancement for Microsoft Lifechat LX-3000 in Windows 7.

  So I got a pair of these headphones when I had my old vista computer and I loved them. At the time, Windows Vista had in the audio improvements for this headset: Correction of the piece, the equalization, Loudness, thing that I don't remember and Bass Boost. With the emphasis of the serious all the way up to these things had incredible bass. Since then, I built a new PC and put Windows 7 on it. To my dismay the improvements in Audio for the LX-3000, instead of Bass Boost is "Protection low-frequency". I checked my other USB headset and each of them had an option of Bass Boost, up to 24 dB @ 50 Hz! Only the LX-3000 do not have the development of Bass Boost. My question is, is it possible to unlock the Bass Boost enhancement for these headphones in Windows 7? I have the latest drivers for the headphones.

  I have the latest version of the driver (Version 1.4) downloaded from the Microsoft Web site. The driver installs fine, but the headset always has a yellow icon in the Device Manager. Just to confirm that the helmet actually works, I tested it in a virtual machine running Windows 7 Ultimate and it picked up right away without me having to install the driver manually. I don't know why it does not work on my desktop.

  I thought about it. It turns out that there are a few files that are necessary to enable the USB composite devices working properly (USB with audio and/or video devices). These files should be found in C:\Windows\inf. The list of files are:

  - usb.inf
  - usb.pnf
  -usbport.inf
  -usbport.pnf
  -usbprint.inf
  -usbprint.pnf
  -usbstor.inf
  -usbstor.pnf
  -usbvideo.inf
  -usbvideo.pnf

  Missed me the first two which are in bold. I don't know how or why I was their lack, but I'm just happy that it's a simple solution. To retrieve these files, I got everything just them to a fresh install of Windows 7 on a virtual machine. You can probably catch them from another computer, you have in your House too.
