SP2 of Vista and MSN Messenger

Just installed Vista Pack SP2 (I edition Home premium) Thursday and since then I can not connect to messenger (version 2009), and now Messenger opened yet when I clicked on the icon.
This is a problem caused by SP2?, sould I restore my old SP1 configuration? could you help me solve this problem?
Thanks in advance

  • Equium L20: Effect Larsen Audio with webcam and MSN Messenger

    Hello

I am a user starting with an Equium L20 connected to a Logitech Web camera and an MSN e-mail account.
When I live via MSN Messenger video conversation with my daughter (300 miles) there is a very high-pitched sound of feedback that gets worse, as we speak.

It is not the webcam because it does not occur when the webcam is connected to a friends laptop and we tired 4 different ones with the same result. Is not the configuration wireless and broadband or something in our House as it does the same thing when it is connected to another (different) system 300 miles away.

Our retailer said it is not for lack of material, but cannot solve the problem despite the download of new speakers and takes us through the balance between volume settings and the wave in volume control (only works when the volume is too low to be incomprehensible!). They are now blaming MSN software.

They do not add external speakers via the connection of the headphones, but as this does not "turn off" the laptop speakers we always get feedback - as we do with headphones.

Ideas accepted with gratitude that we are missing out on see our 7 month old granddaughter growing up!

    Thank you in anticipation

    Hello

I guess that the webcam is supported by a clean microphone and therefore sound feedback occurs.
Audio feedback can occur when the audio received by a participant through its speakers, then go into the microphone.
All participants MUST have a helmet to separate audio cross over between the speakers and microphones. It is also VERY important to make sure that you have selected the microphone on your headphones and NOT the one with the built-in webcam.
Webcam microphones have a wide range and pick up lots of ambient noise and are not ideal for 2-way conversations. To ensure that the correct microphone is selected right hand mouse click on the video window, select settings, select the microphone icon and make sure that your headset is selected. The slider bar will adjust the volume level.

In addition, I found a useful FAQ page on the Toshiba site:

It does NOT describe the same question but very similar to yours. Maybe it will help you.

    Hi aaaaaarrrgh,

It is very unfortunate to know that Vista SP2 installation failed. Try the following steps to solve the problem.

Steps to getting started on the desktop

1 boot from the Vista DVD

    2. click on repair your computer on the installation screen.

    3. Select System Restore from the system recovery options.

    4. complete the system restore by choosing a restore point and boot to the desktop.

Steps in troubleshooting of Windows Vista service pack installation issues, Ref: http://support.Microsoft.com/default.aspx/KB/947366

Method 1: Run the System File Checker.

    • Click Start, type cmd in the Search box, right-click in the programs list, and then click on run as administrator.
Note: If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password, or click continue.

    ·         Running sfc/scannow -> This command checks the missing or damaged system files. If it runs clean, error-free, we learn nothing. If it finds missing or corrupt, it will try to replace them with good copies and may solve your problem.

Method 2: Run the system update readiness tool

The following files are available for download from the Microsoft Download Center:

Download the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista (KB947821) package now. http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=0435684b-8d12-4028-9cb0-b2903257f1fd

Method 3: Install the stand-alone package for the service pack instead of using Windows Update to install the Service Pack

  • Satellite A200-J01: problems with Chicony webcam with Yahoo messenger and MSN

    Dear friends

I just bought a Satellite A200-J01 with Windows Vista Edition Home Premium pre-installed on it. My problem is when I want to use my webcam (Chicony USB built-in 2.00) to have a video call with MSN and Yahoo messenger Internet, suddenly, it stops working and it shows a message that the webcam is not connected and no webcam was found on your computer.

And then when I log out Yahoo messenger, come out of her and run Camera Assistant Software it shows this message "Locked by another application" Although there is no other applications running.

The problem remains, unless I restart the computer. I read all the topics and messages as in my case in this site, but none of them helped me. I want to know if someone has encountered this problem, if this chicony webcam is compatible with yahoo and msn messenger and finally what I can do about it.

    Hello

What about software chicory and the driver update?
Please check if the software most recent is available and has been released. If so, remove it the old an and after reboot the new install the most recent version of this software chicony.

It seems that similar problems appear on laptops from different manufacturers that use the Chicony webcam.
Everything looks like the chicony Vista software is not 100% compatible with MSN, yahoo Messenger, Skype etc programs.

  • Problem webcam with Skype and MSN messanger on Satellite A300

    Hello.

Well. The Australia contacted Toshiba. and got some information.
Well, the person I spoke to said that he would try to find the drivers on the European site of Toshiba, which he did. And he said to uninstall the software from my camera assist.
So I did, downloaded the new version, to install it. But I always get problems, saying that windows vista family premium, a USB device, does not work and windows does not recognize it.
And also, had a driver error, saying: open the driver software or reboot your computer.

Went on the forums of Toshiba and cast an eye, did show on their, but could not seem to find answers, and done in the last week or two.
I just want, use Skype and MSN messenger.
But if I can't get these problems must be solved, then no interest to install, probably does not work and haven't tried this feature yet on my machine.

One had similar problems with their Toshibas? and where do I go from here.
Really, which extends from my head and don't know what to do?
The guys said maybe to make a recovery disk, but really don't want to go that route.

It would mean having to spend hours to reinstall everything, and I don't really have the time to do at the moment.
Very busy at the moment. If anyone can offer any other suggestions or where do I go from here?

Had this problem when I got out of the box and purchased from Harvey Norman, Burnie, Tasmania.
    Marvin has soon.

PS: If someone help, pourraient they send me an email to [email protected], in Australia, if they have the same problem and how they got around that one. !

What model Toshiba do you have?

Are you sure that the USB device is the webcam? Have you checked the Device Manager?

    * Download driver Chicony Webcam set to update from http://203.56.127.6/driver_download/Public//p2_all/ChiconyWebcam_v1.7.175.0123.exe
    * Install the Service Pack 1 of Vista, or Vista Hotfix KB934374: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/934374 (KB934374 is included in SP1)
    * Update your e-mail software (MSN/Yahoo Messenger, etc...)
    * If you have another program that can use the webcam (e.g. Skype), make sure that they are completely closed and not, sitting in the system tray.
    * Try to close the bar Assistant camera on the left side of the office.
    * To stop the Camera Assistant software from running at startup, run Regedit and delete HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run "Camera Assistant Software".

  • How can I stop MSN Messenger running at startup in Windows 7?

The options listed for XP or Vista don't work or are not available in Windows 7. I prefer not to uninstall it completely, but if it's the only option, I'll have to. Any suggestions?

    Hello richy1995,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.

You can try the Windows Installer Cleanup tool. It helps with programs that are installed by using an .msi package.
It does not uninstall the program and will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall on. Click here to download the utility.

Then, use the instructions below to uninstall MSN Messenger.

    • Go to the Control Panel
    • Click on Add/Remove Programs
    • Scroll down to find and then click MSN Messenger
    • Click Remove

Follow the prompts that results, and MSN Messenger are uninstalled.

If you talk about Live Messenger,
    Go to add/remove programs
    Click Windows Live Essentials
    Click Change/Remove
You will get an option to uninstall part of windows live essentials, which includes messenger 2009.

Hope these instructions for your question.

    Sincerely,

    Hello

1st thing to try is a restoration of the system in safe mode

    http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/system_restore.htm

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.
