• Time Capsule with multiple OS devices...?

  Is there a recommended way to have a TC to use at home with Mac OS, iOS, and 10 machine a window?

  I'm considering a purchase and to wonder about this as an option for backup/storage for files and Photos, iTunes Library (mainly Mac/IOS), etc. With 10 of the window.

  Ideas, suggestions and shared experience welcome!

  You can save the iTunes library on the TC... It is possible though slower.

  It is not possible to store your library of Photos on the TC... once again, it might work and other people the recommend... but Apple does not support.

  iOS has nothing to do with the storage or backup to a TC either. By default iOS don't not have yet the disk on the TC... you must use file... as filebrowser navigation software.

  Windows is also possible, but problematic. To make backups is probably not possible by using the native software in windows, but many third-party backups will support it... Macrium Reflect is one I use that.

  However the restoration can be much more difficult because the files are not stored in native format.

  If you want a multi-OS device buy a real NAS... Synology is my favourite, although expensive, that they support PC and Mac very well... as well as applications for iOS.

  You will store actually Mac libraries is another matter however because they depend on Mac format so you may create a sparsebundle or DMG file and use it. And this will make sharing... which I think is why you... almost impossible.

  NOTE... If you use not a backup of TC is not possible using Time Machine... and you should back up the files we need to think about the problem... what software to use... Carbon copy clone or chronosync will run... and you need a target disk... USB attached to the TC is the worst... slow place that transport CANADA continues to use USB2.

• Restore the sparsebundle timemachine on virtualbox

  First of all, sorry for my bad English, I'm from the France... ;-)

  I'm on mac pro early 2009. I got another mac in the past. I've tried for a few days to convert this old mac timemachine sparsebundle vdi.

  This sparsebundle is password protect, but I remember :-)!

  The sparsebundle is located on my synology NAS (outside the record of timemachine used now)

  My old mac was a mini in Mavericks.

  Then I started the installation on VirtualBox with hope Mavericks my sparsebundle will be discovered by restore from time machine (at the beginning of the installation process).

  I first converted my dmg sparsebundle and attach this sata drive dmg but this sata drive is not found (by time machine or utility disks restore utility).

  Then, I convert this dmg/DVI: same result (no = no results!).

  I decided to finish the installation of the Mavericks, just to try and do not stay on a failure.

  In this way, when Mavericks was fully usable, I discovered that my vdi file has been unreadabled... (Mavericks offered to initialize it).

  My second try was a method I used on real mac successfully... but not here :-(

  In my VM fully operational Maverick, I created a new great drive hard virtual vdi. I mounted my sparsebundled and I copied files and folders located in the folder "Last" of the sparsebundled at the root of the virtual hard disk. I have shut down the virtual machine, put the new virtual hard disk as disk drive only sata hard and load the installer dmg Maverick perspective.

  I started the virtual machine (the disk hard not bootabled at the moment) and start the installation process on the hard disk of vdi. The actual computer, I have had success with this methob, but here, towards the end of the process of this fail with an error message ("please contact the software publisher").

  I'm lost now and I have no more ideas! Maybe I failed in my approach to the first method (why my vdi is not readabled?). I'd rather ask for help here before trying another action beacause my sparsebundle is 40 GB and all try to take some time.

• sparsebundle disk image not mounting

  I've recently upgraded to Mac OS Sierra and now I can not mount an image of disk sparsebundle.

  I enter the password, and then nothing happens.

  I tried the same image on a Mac running Leopard and it opens fine.

  I tried a few other sparsebundle some and other encrypted disk images not. Some are open very well, but others do not.

  So, it doesn't seem to be a problem of sparsebundle encrypted disk image.

  Any suggestions?

  After investigation a little more the problem is Sophos AV

  Turn it off and the disk mount fine images.

  I have 3 partitions on my TimeCapsule.

  I would like to increase the size of the iMac of 1.6 to 2.0 to TB sparsebundle. I have 1.1 TB free. Is it possible to do it without clear TC and start over? If so, how - please point me to a tutorial that I can use.

  Do you you actually remove the internal drive of the Capsule of time and re-partitioned, or do you mean you have a single partition and two files of Time Machine (sparesbundle) that are disk images?

• The fastest way to remove a sparsebundle on a Time Capsule with two top backups

  I have a time Capsule 2 TB that I currently use to save an iMac and a MacBook Pro.  I recently bought a new iMac and I decided to go back on this new computer. I moved all the files I need and installed all the apps that I used on the other.  After spending a day and a half, make a backup of the sparsebundle on my old iMac (just in case), I am now ready to get rid of this sparsebundle out of my Time Capsule, so I can start back up my new iMac to it.

  Because I also backup my MBP on it, erasing everything simply is not an option at this point. I need to be able to just remove this a sparsebundle, which, of course, must be huge... I think that it is about 890 concerts at this stage.

  I have been looking online for the best way to delete the sparsebundle, but don't know which method is the best and most of the answers are from 2011 or 2012, so I want to be sure there is not something new, I should try.

  Here are the options that I've seen, and I hope someone can point me to one that suits, or give me another suggestion. If it happens that the best, it takes days to complete, so be it, but it would be good to know that the time goes in.

  1. Change the extension of the sparsebundle and then delete this file. This seems little risk to me, but maybe I'm overthinking it. One person said they changed from iMacbackup.sparsebundle to just iMacbackup.s and was able to remove it.  It would actually remove faster? Do not change the size, so I don't know how it works.
  2. Mount the sparsebundle by using the IP address and then delete the sparsebundle like that. This was part of a post that said in fact the best way to remove first had to access it through Windows Explorer, and then delete it. This isn't an option for me, so in the comments I post, I saw someone say to connect via SMB and delete this one. Someone said he worked within a minute for them, but I see not a lot more answers.
  3. Display content of the sparsebundle, then delete the contents of the folder-Band 5, 000-8, 000 at the same time. I just watched showed a guy do that but it took something like 4 days to remove them, and he had to reload between each 5 000 videos a YouTube it deleted. Currently I have about 102 000 items in my folder of bands, so if it takes a day to remove 10,000 of them (according to, I'm looking for both ridiculously long to remove these.)

  Alternative suggestions that someone has more would be welcome.  I just want to be able to get this old one deleted and start backup to my new one, without losing my MBP backup.

• Time capsule - remove 1 of 3 backup sparsebundle files

  I have a Time Capsule with backup sparsebundle 'files' from 3 different computers.  Only 2 of these computers are still in use and I want to remove the other we need more free space on the Time Capsule.  Any guidance?

• iTunes re-download-file dmg not recognized!

  I deleted iTunes from my mac that I had an entirely different matter - unable to subscribe to or download podcasts - and several people suggested to re install.

  However, I am unable to re - install all versions, as the download will still for a while then breaks down, saying the DMG file is not recognized.

  I have an iMac G5, 27 "; Processor - 3.4 GHz Intel Core 17; Memory - 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3; Software - OS X 10.9.5 (13F1808)

  Since yesterday, it was not able to Time Machine backup.

  The initial error was "iMac that G5.sparsebundle could not be found (error-1).

  I found a few tips here and there followed:-unplug TC; go to network/SystemPreferences, renew the DHCP lease

  Still did not work.

  Is passed to the next stage of advice:-open the TM preferences panel, remove the TC list of backup destinations, add in

  Still did not work.

  Error message has now changed to "iMac that G5.sparsebundle could not be found (error (null)).

  Is this a defective Time Capsule?  (This is the conclusion, in other similar post, I found that my error message ('null') is different from that of this post).

• Downloaded Firefox and it will work in mode dmg but will not be displayed in the application folder, even if I hang out there.

  It will run fine (but slow) until I got disabling my computer. When I turn it back on, I need to click on the disc image as if it had not been installed.

  Make sure that Firefox is installed correctly.

  Open the Firefox disk image file and drag the Firefox program into the Applications folder on your hard drive.
  Do not double-click the Firefox to run from the disk image, but instead, drag it out of the DMG file.

• How to convert .smi .dmg in El Capitan

  I downloaded the system 7 in the .smi (System 7.0.1.smi) format image file and I found no way to mount it or convert it to dmg.

  Disk utility doesn't support .smi conversion to the current version. Are there other ways of "extract"? Thank you in advance.

• Impossible to download DMG files with mozilla

  When I try to download a .dmg on a Web site, instead of the file goes to my download folder - I get a new tab, open it with a bunch of code/characters. This does not happen with Safari, Chrome or Internet Explorer.

  What I can do to solve this problem - or is this something on the end of the web developer. If its side of the web developer - what should do?

  It do for all DMG files uploaded, or only this particular site? Note that, although not a great workaround, when the DMG file opens in a new tab, click this tab, then:

  • File > Save Page as (or

• Argument not valid error of DMG

  I have a Macbook Pro 2012 model and all my programs are up to date. But this week, seem all my DMG files don't load to give an invalid argument error. I thought it was because the downloads were incomplete, but it wasn't the case, as the other applications I had already downloaded earlier this year did not work also. All these problems started when all of a sudden I was locked on Spotify and had to reinstall it but cannot get it load. So I can only use spotify now on my iPhone.

  I restarted the computer, but without any result. My DMG files are configurΘ for dΘmarrer with Disk Image Mounter, so this isn't the problem. Its really frustrating.

  I don't know what you mean here, all my DMG files? You try to update your Flashplayer (depending on your screenshot?)
