  First download the audio driver by using the links below and save the installer to your desktop.

  Once the download is complete, right-click on the Setup program and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation - ignore the warnings that you can see everything that is an earlier version.  Once the installation is complete, restart the laptop.

  Hello everyone.  This is my first post on this forum.

  I have a Pavilion dv7.  Since the beginning (Vista) the QL Mute button wouldn't change to orange when the speakers muted.  I've upgraded to Windows 7 and it still doesn't work.  At one point HP automatically suggested an update of a certain type.  Installed and the button worked.  My hard drive crashed and I just installed a new updated one, day of Vista to W7 once again, done all updates offered.

  But the same problem is back!

  Does anyone know what I need to update to make it work?

  I solved it by installing ' HP full support ", ran the" Tune up"and by installing recommended drivers."  The problem has been fixed, but there was no mention of the QLB' in one of the names of driver updated!

  Right-click on an empty area of the taskbar, and then select Properties.  By the 'Area of Notification' section click the Customize button.  In the next window, scroll down until you find the Volume icon in the drop-down list beside him box, select "Show icon and Notifications" and then click on OK at the bottom of the window.  You should now see the Volume icon showing on the right side of your taskbar - left click once to display the cursor (Blender) and then click on the the speaker icon with the red X (just below the current cursor) and it should turn back on.

  Normally you can hear the sound on the speakers laptop if you disconnect the headset. Make sure that the sound is not muted, you can do this with the FN + ESC key combination.
