  • specification of the Mac mini hdmi cable

I want to connect mini mac to a projector via a HDMI cable. Is there any specification that I should look for when buying the HDMI cable? I'll buy a third party such as sony or belkin or a similar brand one.

I have 2 screens hung on my Mini in 2014. Whether through HDMI. A straight line on the available on the Mini HDMI port. The other HDMI cable is connected to a bolt of lightning 2 port via a HDMI-> Mini Display port converter cable.

The two cables supplied with my computer screen HDMI. But they seem to be general brand stuff. But both work perfectly.

I have no experience with projectors, but I don't think that general brand cables should be a problem.

  • VRAM can be improved in the Mac Mini graphics card?

My goal is to run the FCP and the movement on an older mac mini.   End 2012, Mac Mini, but the only missing area is the amount of VRAM associated with the graphics card.  For example; Intel HD Graphics 4000 with 1536 MB shared VRAM, Motion 5.2 specifications is VRAM 256, I upgrade the VRAM?  I can update the entire graphics card, or would one of these more trouble than what it's worth?

Here are the full specifications of the Mac Mini I am considering buying used.

2.3 GHz Intel QUAD 'Core i7' processor with boost speeds up to 3.3 GHz

8 GB of 1600 memory DDR3 SDRAM MHz (PC3-12800), easily expandable to 16 GB

    256 GB of Flash storage

Intel HD Graphics with 1536 MB shared VRAM 4000

Port FireWire "800", four USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, Thunderbolt

The only thing out of the plug of movement is the VRAM.

    Thank you for your help.

    Michael C.

Mac Mini memory system is used for VRAM on 2012.

There is no way to increase the system RAM, it serves of VRAM, once you max the RAM System.

With less than 4 to 8 GB of system RAM less system RAM use of VRAM

  • Mail of the Mac Mini, iMac with the migration wizard

I have a mac mini (2014 - El Capitan) that I have used for some time now and I have many mailboxes (30 +) with many stored messages (100s maybe 1000s).

I recently picked up a 2011 27 iMac which is running OS X Sierra Final Release Candidate due to vision problems.

Both units are working well but I would like to transfer my boxes to the letters, messages, and the account settings from the Mac Mini to the iMac using Migration Assistant to take advantage of the larger screen.

Am I able to select only the data for e-mail (boxes letters, messages and settings) to transfer somewhere in the Migration Wizard interface or will it just to start the transfer of all?

I use iCloud for note, calendars and contacts, but prefer not to use for e-mail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    WN

The simplest option would be to use Time Machine to restore your data.

    Other Options:

You can export the folders you want to transfer the mini using export of Mail under mailbox function in the Menu bar > export a mailbox... Drag to the folder on the desktop on the new iMac and import in Mail. File > import boxes mailbox...

You can also use a third-party application, Emailchemy to export your Mail on the mini and pull only the folders you want and import. If you have many files, it would be a faster option.

    http://www.weirdkid.com/products/emailchemy/

Otherwise, you could drag on the whole Mail > V3 folder let Sierra update data. This assumes that you have already started using Mail to Sierra.

You don't have to use iCloud email to use Apple Mail. I strongly suggest that you use IMAP to service what ever you choose to use.  Comcast, Yahoo, Gmail, AOL, Hotmail (other)

  • Cannot put the Mac mini mid-2011 to sleep

My mac mini (mid 2011, 2.3 GHz Intel Core i5) stopped going to sleep a few days ago. Neither Finder, command line or the energy settings are able to put it to sleep. SMC and NVRAM reset did not help, even reinstall 10.11.4 does not solve the problem. No hardware connected except for the screen and the keyboard. In fact, the display goes to sleep, but the mac mini stay awake... Also tried to wait some time for her to go to sleep, but nothing happens.

Here is the console log after that I tried to put it to sleep, waited a moment and reconnected. Any interpretation help is very appreciated!

  • HP w2207h monitor: HP monitor crashes if connected to the Mac Mini

My w2207h monitor works fine connected to 2 computers. A Dell laptop connected with a cable HDMI and a Fujitsu PC connected with VGA cable. I spend between the 2 with the menu key of monitors and the function 'change the video input '. However, I just buy a Mac Mini and connected via HDMI but now, pass the VGA to HDMI causes the monitor to crash/power down. Even the light around the power button goes off and nothing works. To relight the monior screen, the only way is to disconnect the cable from power for a few minutes. The monitor works with an another old laptop connected via HDMI as doeas the Mac Mini connected to an old television set. I thought HDMI HDMI was, but this monior dislikes my Mac. Any ideas?

Thanks for the information Dunidar. A long session, running tests with Apple confirmed that this monitor does not work with Mac Mini. The only solution was to buy a new monitor :-(

  • Is the edition of the Mac Mini (2.6 GHz, 8 GB, Iris Graphics) good for photo?

    Hello!

It's time for me to invest in a new laptop / desktop, especially that I picked up photography as a hobby. I've always been a Windows user, but after purchasing my iPhone and iPad, I plan to join the Mac camp. Right now I'm undecided, get a Windows laptop (with all of the easy extensibility comes with it), or the Mac Mini (2.6 GHz, 8 GB, Iris Graphics) and be stuck with its 8 GB of RAM? Portability isn't a factor for me, and I can't afford a higher spec Mac (especially since I'll receive a Fujifilm X - T1 soon!). This configuration of Mac Mini will serve me well for at least 5 years, using Photoshop/Lightroom?

    See you soon!

You can order it with 16 GB of RAM.

The extent of the Photoshop and Lightroom, the current Minis will be just adequate.

You will not get the performance you out of a machine with discrete graphics.

Although it is better than previous iterations of the integrated graphics card Intel.

  • 2012 the Mac Mini has sluggish 5 GHz Wi - Fi

    OK, this is weird.

Suddenly, my Mac mini is to have WiFi connections intermittently slow on the 5 GHz band, a router Linksys WRT-1900AC.

I have a 105 MB Comcast connection, and usually tests Speedtest.net Mini cede passage on 100 Mbps results, usually in the 120 Mbps.

This morning, I started having intermittent slowness. Sometimes I would grind to a halt, or there would be a long time to connect to a website. Speedtest pings during these episodes would be too high that 990 - in general, they are about 14 ms.

The 2.4 GHz connection, which generally gives me a slower rate in the range of 50 Mbps, is fine. The only issues I see are at 5 GHz, where I have the chance to get a speed in the range of 30 to 50 Mbps.

All other devices - iPads, iPhones, MacBook Pro, 4th-gen Apple TV, Microsoft Surface Pro 4 - connect at 5 GHz very well. I get my gears zippy on other devices. Just not the Mini.

I rebooted the router and the modem. I emptied the cache DNS on the Mini. I deleted the Linksys SSD in Network preferences then reconnected. I removed the Mac Mini map of the network of the Linksys firmware and restored. So far, nothing works.

One thing to note: a few weeks ago, I installed a couple of SSD in the Mini, replacing a single stock of HARD drive. Which is to remove the antenna plate (and everything else inside the Mini). But I re-assembled very well, and it has been working fine since then. I think that if there is a problem with the antenna, it would affect the 2.4 GHz band, too.

Also, we moved into a new apartment in the same complex, taking our Comcast service with us. It worked fine when I put in place Sunday and worked a lot since then. But the Mini is in a new location on the block.

Any suggestions for what to do next?

If possible, please connect to the router with Ethernet and see if there is an improvement.

  • My reboot of the Mac mini (5.2) within 2 hours of being arrested.

Sometimes in minutes, never more than 2 hours after his arrest.  There are some newspapers that I can check if some app has launched a process of cron that does this?  I ran for a while and recently tried Seti@Home BOINC at UC Berkeley, so I wonder if this could be something left behind when I uninstalled one of them.

Mac mini mid-2011 (mini Mac 5.2), 12 GB of ram, 120 GB SSD, internal 500 GB eSata drive.

I would firstly reset the SMC, according to > reset the management system (SCM) controller on your Mac - Apple Support

Then, I would look at two settings in energy saver preferences.

    1. start automatically after a power failure.

(if this box is checked, your computer will start up if power is lost and restored for some reason any)

    2. program settings....

(make sure that is not set to start up at a specific time)

  • Future of the Mac Mini early 2009

    Hello

I have a Mac Mini early 2009 with the following specifications:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.26 GHz

    6 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

    NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256 MB

    OS X 10.11.1

I mainly work with Adobe CC2015: applications InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. For most 2D design. I know, for my work, the RAM is important as well as the HARD drive. I could be wrong. At this stage I do not know whether to invest in a new Mac Mini, or try adding more RAM to it and perhaps a better HARD drive. I noticed that Seagate launches new SSHD which combine the speed of an SSD with a HARD drive storage.

To get a better understanding of me thinking, I always try to do my best with what I have. Five years ago, when I started this business I was actually using a PPC G4 with Adobe CS3. Two years later, I bought a G5 and run Adobe CS4. Now, three years ago since I have computer yhis in my service and I am very happy that she. However, I noticed that started pretty slow when several applications are running (i.e.Safari with a tracking application recording time, MS Word, InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop and Excel). Last project, I have had has been great with the 200 Mb InDesign files. It took minutes to package a project make my productivity calving. Otherwise, it works great.

Bottom line will be how quickly it became too old to be in my service?

It would make a difference at this stage to add little extra RAM, buy a new HARD drive and decommissioning maybe my OS to OS X 10.10 maximum or even OS X 10.9?

It will make a big difference between my Mac Mini and a new Mac Mini with processor 1.4 GB, 8 GB of RAM and a 1.5 GB video card?

Any advice would be much appreciate it.

    Kind regards

    Sebastian

Your Mac supports 8 GB or RAM, so ranging from 6 to 8 GB help only a little but will help.

Replacing the Rotary HD with a SSD will really help. It is not hard to do. Because SSDS are relatively inexpensive no, I wouldn't go with a hybrid car.

    1.4 GHz, Min 2014 has a 64 bit, multi-core of the note of 5341

Score of your Mini is 2278

    http://browser.primatelabs.com/Mac-benchmarks

Thus, the 2014 will be much faster.

I don't see any real advantage to downgrade the OSX version

  • Trackpads only 2 fingers scrolling on the Mac Mini

I have two Magic trackpad (wireless), a couple of years; No will 2 fingers scrolling on my Mac Mini (try them for the first time on the Mini). both work fine on my other machines.  All machines are updated to the latest version of El Capitan, a lot of RAM.  Same settings trackpad on all machines.  The movement of the cursor trackpad, highlighting, click Select OK on the Mini, but no two fingers scrolling, without pinching to resize.  Have not checked all the possibilities, but lack of scrolling is a deal breaker.  Track pad update 1 is too old, have not found another.  Tried with mouse wireless on and outside.  A run first aid.  Reinstalled the system software.  Even enabled the scrolling options, the settings of the mouse.  Help!

If two of your machines running El Capitan and touchpads are version 1 of Trackpad, it is probably the reason.   While versions more old mouse and trackpad will work to some extent, all the features with El Capitan requires the version of Magic Trackpad 2.   The MT2 has developed especially for El Capitan and later operating systems.   I know that it's a nuisance, but the new trackpad is levied directly on your machine and needs no battery.
