Specification OR ELVIS II + DMM

Hello

Recently, I use NI ELVIS II + for the characterization of the sensor due to the measurement of the resistance to 100Mohm.

However, I found the spec said 100Mohm measurement can be done by using max test 5V voltage source and current source internal 500 nA? Using Ohm's law, 10Mohm has proved to be the maximum extent?

Kind regards

Sin Chong Yung

Hello

DMM NI ELVIS II has a permanent entry of 11 MOhm resistance. For the measurement of the resistance, the device under test (DUT) is assumed to be in parallel with this 11 MOhm. The ASE resistance is calculated from this nonlinear relationship by measuring the test whereas calibrated current excitation voltage and parallel resistance.

For example, a 10 MOhm DUT measured in the interval of MOhm 100 with a current excitation nA 500 would show all (11 M: 10 M) * nA 500 ~ = 2.6 V.

With a 100 MOhm DUT, the test voltage would be of about (11 M: 100 M) * nA 500 ~ = 4.95 V... right against the limit of 5 V.

Enjoying a beautiful, the test voltage is (11 M) * nA 500 ~ = 5.5 V that is larger that the 5 V limit and is detectable in the 'OPEN' in the software.

NI ELVIS II DMM design was obtained from an other DMM with the input resistance is selectable (11 MOhm or > 10 GOhm). In this case, the excitement of nA 500 could be used in conjunction with the 10 GOhm input impedance to give 10 MOhm resistance measuring range. Since the resistance of the DMM NI ELVIS II entry is fixed, there is a separate offer 10 MOhm.

I hope this is useful,

Charles Y.

  • Measure the resistance with PXI DMM 4072 on different frequencies

    Hi all

I tried to get on board various and unable to find solutions for that. I'm trying to measure resistance using NI PXI-4072 on frequencey 1 kHz, but not luck. When I try to use Agilent LCR meter I see the correct value of the resistance.

I've seen a few posts on this but don't have no satisfactory solutions.

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/Digital-Multimeters-DMMs-and/LCRmeter-test-frequency-for-resistance-measurem...

In above post, someone said that I can use 4072 DMM OR digitizer, does not have a lot.

Can someone please provide the right path for me to solve this problem.

    Thank you

    Hello Puneet_K,

I checked the data sheet and the method of measurement described in the specifications of the NI 4070/4072 http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/371304g.pdf; indicates that the ability is measured using an alternating signal and select the test frequency range, for example 3 kHz, 1kH or 91 Hz. The resistance is simply measured using a DC signal, and it is often sufficient to measure the internal resistance of a battery. If you need a more flexible control for the measurement, you probably get a card like the function generator and then set a multimeter to measure the voltage and another DMM to measure the current and calculate the impedance of these values.

    I hope this helps!

  • DMM software does not.

Why the digital multimeter (DMM) software does not work if the NI ELVISmx Instrument Launcher is?

Initially, I installed subsequently myDAQ NI 2015 that included the NI ELVISmx Instrument Launcher containing the DMM software. Other pieces of software work however, the DMM stalls immediately after starting with a NI Instruments loading bar.

I tried the repair option of software specifically for the NI ELVISmx driver and also tried wiping clean and reinstall fees. By receiving the same result.

I am very confused as to the cause. Is it possible for me to get a specifically 64-bit driver download?

    Hi SamuelDelattre,

I do not know what link you are using however the link below is fully supported on a 64-bit Windows 7 with 32-bit LabVIEW. You can post a screenshot of the error you get? It might be useful to uninstall all the drivers ELVIS you currently one do a fresh install.

  • DMM (NI 4070), how to correctly set AC Freq (bandwidth) by the sampling rate

using a NI4070 multimeter and I see the max connection is 300 kHz by respect it.  But I don't understand how to set the min and max, acFrequency according to the sampling frequency or speed reading.

6 1/2 digits resolution, the speed can vary from 0.25 s/s to 100 s/s and this range corresponds to a lower end on the connection (minimum acFreq) from 1 Hz to 400 Hz.

(Q1a) - is the playback speed, controlled by the minimum setting of IviDmm_ConfigureACBandwidth?   or vice versa?

Otherwise, I do not see how to control the rate of reading or the sampling frequency.   IviDmm_ConfigureMeasurement only allows you to control the range and resolution.

(Q1b) - is there a way to directly control the sample rate (digitizer) or playback speed (dmm)?

(T2) - the upper limit of the bandwidth of AC always seems to be at 300 kHz... is there still a reason to reduce this maximum value?

(T3) - Finally, unlike the traditional niDmm function, the resolution via the IVI configuration should be passed as absolute value; does directly when number of digits and the beach?   For example if I want to 6 1/2 digit to 300V range, I guess that by the specifications that the resolution should be set at 0.001 V... followign, if I want 5 1/2 digits to 1V range, the resolution should be set to 0.00001 V?

    Hi Rjohnson,

I'll try to answer your questions as best as I can:

Q1A.  The ConfigurACBandwidth function is used by the driver OR DMM to calculate the good aperautre for the measure.  So yes, by adjusting your minimum frequency, you will affect your reading speed.

Q1B.  Your reading rate will depend largely on your measuring cycle.  To get a fast measuring cycle, there are a few things that you can adjust.  You can programmatically control your time aperature, as well as your time to settle.

Q2. I can't find a reason to change. This parameter is only used for error-checking and verifies that the value of
This setting is less than the maximum frequency of the device.

Q2B.  I think what you say is right, but I'll need to check on that - I'll let know you as soon as.

Hope that helps.  "" "I would recommend checking the explanation of the Cycle of the DMM measurement in DMM help' devices ' NI 4070" DMM Measuments "DMM measurement Cycle.

I have to install a battery or something in the myDAQ? I saw a picture of the battery has a triple, but don't see any on the myDAQ battery compartment. There is a battery 9V on the myProtoBoard property, but it does not help the issue.

    Thank you

    Hi Jason,

It seems that you have installed the legacy version of the NI ELVIS driver, which only supports the NI ELVIS device. Use an NI ELVIS II / II + or one NOR myDAQ and use the DMM feature, you will need the NI ELVISmx driver. The latest version is NI ELVISmx 4.5, which supports versions of LabVIEW 2010-2013. If you have another version of LabVIEW, let me know and I can direct you to the correct version of NI ELVISmx.

  • PXI-2530 defies the laws of physics trying to quantify the resistance of the pairs of specific relay relay.

I have a problem with a PXI-2530 switch card work in matrix mode 4 X 32. I need to determine the resistance of the pairs of specific relay within the matrix. I have a PXI-4130 and a PXI-4071 in the same chassis, so I take measures 4-wire in a configuration like this...

Resistance symbols represent relays in the switch. Here is a representation of matrix-style switch routes I use. (This should look more like the interface of soft face before switch)

The two diagrams represent so how I take my measure. I shorted outwardly columns C8 & C9 (shown in the first graph), I am sourcing 500 microamps of current and toggling the current source for a positive and a negative measure, I am able the voltage with the DMM. For the above measure I'm mesure.2619 ohms. This should be of course my resistance of the relay K8, K41, as well as Terminal block and wiring.

Here's another schema. This should measure the resistance of two same...

All I have changed is routing between the meter from the source. Here's the view from the matrix...

With this measure I'm mesure.0873 ohms. I can have the same resistance as the first example except getting a very different measure.

It gets even more interesting. If I had to take 4 pairs of wires, I use here, there are 16 possible configurations. I took each of these measures, and half of them gave me environ.25 ohms while the other half gave me environ.09 ohms. I tried this on a 2nd chassis and got the same result. My data are in the attached sheet. (My examples above are rows 1 & 5.)

Taking the measure of how we are, all these measures should be substantially the same. I have a current source constant, (I even tried a crimp in instead of the 4130 and got the same result.) and the meter is high impedance.    If I had a pattern for the PXI-2530, I could do a little more analysis to know why I get various measures. Is there some diodes clamp on the lines or columns in the matrix? Something external must act solange this circuit. If I can find out what that is, I could determine my resistance to relay to a quantifiable level of uncertainty.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • NI Elvis and Multisim interactive without labview

If a circuit is implemented and tested with the help of Elvis, the results of an output displayed in Multisim and Labview?  If I want to change my Multisim simulation to match the output of the circuit set up as Elvis, is possible in real time?      I know that TINA can do with their hardware/software.     Thank you

    jweaver-

You can display the measurements in Multisim and LabVIEW.  With NI ELVIS, you can use 12 instruments of autonomous software by installing the driver (FGEN, Noculars, DMM, ect).  The instruments are built using LabVIEW.  You can access these same instruments in Multisim environment and compare the Multisim circuit simulation commensurate with live material in real time.  I included a tutorial describing how to do it using equipment OR myDAQ.  The steps are the same for NI ELVIS.

If you want to create a custom beyond the 12 instruments application, you can program the instruments in the LabVIEW programming environment.

  • NOR-DMM vs IVI - DMM - Soft Front Panel

    Hi all

I've developed a test application that will subsequently use a PXI-4070 DMM (currently simulating it OR max).  I used the IVI DMM functions, but ran into a problem when I couldn't do a diode test (diode test is apparently not officially normalized according to by IVI yet).  So I've been using the functions OR DMM. Essentially, it's a pretty seamless transition, but there is one thing that I was not able to replicate with the NOR-DMM simulation I could do with the IVI - DMM.  When I used the IVI - DMM features and ran the VI, an open popup that enabled me to get into the simulated value I wanted the DMM to read.  I can't get this to work with functions OR DMM.  Is this possible?  If Yes please let me know how to activate it.  Thank you.

    GSinMN

The advanced simulation exists only on the level of Class IIA (IviDmm) driver. Class IVI drivers implement the functions of simulation using pilots of the simulation. IVI Compliance Package (PIC) installs a driver simulation for each class IVI driver. Each pilot simulation of plugs for the pilot of the corresponding class and performs the simulation of flexible output data. The NOR-DMM is a specific driver that supports the DMM series NOR and therefore does not include the functionality of advanced simulation.

  • How to use the kit sensor Bioinstrumentation Vernier with NI ELVIS II and LABview on a CPU?

So I have the NI ELVIS II + and a box full of Bioinstrumentation sensor, including Kit sensors: Analog Proto board connector (s), pressure sensor, hand dynamometer, hand grip monitor heart rate, EKG sensors, Surface temperature probe, among others.

I can't seem to get all the sensor data to my PC that I use, I'm not too familiar with electrical circuits but I followed the manual directions for the specific sensor but it seems as if it doesn't have a difference. I'm with copper son crochet and so that they know the places appropriate (according to the manual) but nothing.

Am I missing something? I have also the is open regardless of the specific LABview laboratory (Surface Temp lab for example), but when I press run it is as the sensors are not recognized or even be recognized. The sensors are plugged into the connectors on the analog Proto Board also. What I am doing wrong, and how can I get these sensors to work?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

From what I see, it looks like a typing mistake in the manual.

Try to connect GND AI0 - and NOT ALWAYS.

    It should look like this.

Connect the following pins for wire connector:

    1. AI0 + SIG1 analog connector Proto Board

    2. + 5V power supply DC to 5V analog Proto card connector

    3. Power supply to the GROUND to GND of the analog Proto board connector

  • How much it might cost to fix an NI Elvis II

Nevermind, I ordered an NI Elvis II + on eBay without power and when I got the power supply (today), the eddd Board does not work.  Well, the best thing I could do was to contact the vendor for the return but the seller did not allow that so I opened the case, hopefully, eBay will be on my side.  I would have had because it wasn't that why the seller has not sold it with food.

For the worst cases, in general how much can it cost to fix a hardware with National Instruments Repair Services?  My genius sense let me know that the Board of Directors has been damaged to the input power no power indicator. Without doubt, the seller or the supplier of the seller used power invalid to test because they did not have the right type of power.

    Thank you very much.

    Hi muahuang1234,

Yes, the cost is fixed on a base by revision.  Inspection technician does not affect the price.  If nothing is found wrong with the device, a fee no problem found (or NTF) is evaluated.  You should discuss with the RMA Coordinator when you call a more specific pricing.

  • How to write a program to integrate the ELVIS, LV and Excel

    Hi.I am new to LabView.

I have to write a program to integrate between Elvis and the BT. This program is designed for first year students. Each student will create a test file in labview that contains a vague Sin - DC offset etc. then they should use the NI ELVIS oscilloscope to see the wave and post the results on a test sheet. This test spreadsheet (which should be developed in LabView) n must be self scored so when students filled in parts of 20 c answers should be marked by the program.

To my knowledge, I think I should use Excel with LV. I also use ELVIS as a DAQ hardware but I don't know how to get started and how to use Excel, how to do a car also marked system in labview.

    Any help really appreciated.

    Hi en99,

You should look at some of the training material online for more help to start, for example:

  • DMM / SnS and definition of filters

When you set filters in your DMM to import your Active Directory domain users, is there a way to move these specific users see the and hand Rolls (Editor / author)?   Maybe it's a side script thing SnS, but I have not found this process.

Here is a current example of a DMM import which does not place users in the rolls, but they Gets a DMM group.  I would like assigns combining Show and part editor and / or rolls of the author.

(&(objectclass=user) (memberof = CN = MVTC OR = Cisco, OU = Groups, DC = domain, DC = wfu, DC = net))

I agree, it would be nice, but there is no way to automatically assign roles to a user group.  Have users in groups makes it easier to manually assign roles well.

    Good afternoon

I have problems with our server of digital media (5.3.6). Recently, we have moved the server to our data center shared and necessary to change the host name and IP address.

Once I changed the host name and IP I refreshed the certificate self-signed and changed the DNS entry on our global catalog DNS.

I can get to the login screen, but after the connection, she tries to redirect the old DNS server entry.

    Thoughts?

    Hello

My suggestion would be if you don't have it already is changing the name of the Servlet server host/IP this should hopefully solve your problem, this can be found in the Module signal digital itself and under the setting tab then the server settings, this setting is not obvious or well documented but won me over the years , questions can sometimes hang on your and you must reroute the DMM back to the old address/hostname change cela a setting specific, easier for you to do with a patch back to back the cable to your laptop for this! Let me know if it works!
