You can buy a DVD player base of various suppliers (check Google) and you will then need to transfer any hardware Assembly of your old drive to the new. This will cause by unscrewing the mounting brackets, plastic trim panels and possibly the flange.

  Another consideration that might be important for you is the type of CD/DVD media. I chose the UJ825 because it does not use a sliding drawer to hold the CD/DVD, an important issue for me because my son had already broken the original disc once drawer.
  The UJ825 uses a mechanism of power split that I find much safer to use.

  One last point is the setting of your new drive. More slim drives design are pre-set by the manufacturer to master or Cable Select, and you must make sure that you buy corresponds to the current value of your existing drive.
