  • WinRAR command line tools do not check an executable Windows Server 2012

    Hi all

I have developed a VI in LabVIEW 8.6 using WinRAR command line tools (passed in the Exec.vi system) to archive data that takes place on 5 different computers on a network and stores on a server .rar files.  Executable file of the VI works perfectly on my computer (WinXP) development.  The data from each of the 5 machines are archived and .rar files are stored on the server.  However, when I move the executable on the server where the .rar files will be stored and run the executable file, the command window flashes on the screen as if WinRAR commands are running, but no data is archived on the server.  No errors are passed out of the Exec.vi of the system.  The server's operating system is Windows Server 2012 and I placed the Rar and UnRAR .exe in the folder system32 on the server.  The server firewall is disabled, and he is able to explore at the location of the data to arhived.  The server is logged in as a domain administrator account.

Here is an example of one of the commands in command line that I spend in the Exec.vi system:

    cmd /c rar a - m5 \\selsacn11\viscom\selsvis01\15\07\20.rar \\selsvis01\Rep0\Archiv\15\07\20

When I manually type this command in the command line on the server, the data is stored properly.  The problem occurs when I run the executable on the server.

I tried to work around the problem by creating a batch of files containing the command above, then using the Exec.vi system to call this batch file.  Yet once, when I manually run the batch file, it works correctly, but when Exec.vi system in a LabVIEW executable file runs the command on the server file, I get the same result as described above - no data are archived on the server.  This batch file works on my development computer and on my laptop to the company.

My only thought is that there is a problem with the access rights.  So far, the executable works fine on an older server (Windows Server 2003), the development computer (Win XP) and my laptop (Win7) company, but the executable archive not the data on the Server 2012 server or on another computer running WIndows 7.  I have all these machines connected under the same domain administrator account, but COMPUTER networks are certainly above my head, so I wanted to check here if anyone has seen this problem with WinRAR or the Exec.vi system.

    Thanks for any info!

    Success!

Darin, I took your suggestions and after some more fighting with him, I have an error Code 2 on the Exec.vi system.  This led me in search of the forums where I fell on the following:

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/LabVIEW/problem-using-quot-MSG-quot-command-with-quot-system-exec-VI/m-p/153...

Of course, all the machines that had been able to run the executable file are 32-bit.  All the machines that could not run the executable are a 64 bit system.  I placed the Rar.exe in the C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder on the server and it works exactly as expected today.

I fought with this for weeks, so I'm a little disappointed that it was something so simple, but I'm very happy to have finally work!

Thank you all very much for the help!

  • Drivers for Windows Server 2008 R2

    PE1950, 2950 and MD3000i MPIO on Windows Server 2008 R2

We're trying to nail a few dates to migrate our W2K8 R2 platform and plan the project.  We have most of our technical plans in place, and we have the code.  We have no Dell drivers however and there are several suspicious communications from Dell on this topic...

    Case #1: http://en.community.dell.com/blogs/insideit/archive/2009/08/10/ready-for-the-transition-dell-provides-support-for-windows-server-2008-r2.aspx

    Note:

    • Our engineers have missed on countless piano recitals, songs and episodes of American Idol while spending thousands of hours of testing and validation to make sure that dy products Dell running Windows Server 2008 R2 are the business-rea.
    • We have pilot complete support for Windows Server 2008 R2 for Dell hardware so you can deploy, run and manage easily. You can go here to download the drivers.

If you view the service labels in our support of similar product groups, you will find an R2 option for servers... but the only public services on the PowerVault MD3000i you don't find any reference to R2 at all.

    Case #2: http://www.delltechcenter.com/page/Supportted+Dell+PowerEdge+Systems+for+Microsoft+Windows+Server+2008+R2+Beta

This is a list of Beta for PE obviously compatible servers, however it would make sense If Microsoft has included natively the right drivers for the Dell hardware in the distribution of Microsoft R2 RTM so, just can't find any supporting documentation and do not know if the network drivers are compatible with MD3000i.

#3: There are a few hacks to get drivers Windows 2008 MPIO inherited working with the RC R2 & MD3000i on this forum, but no reference to R2 in the MD3000i matrix and nothing on the site... it's why, we have wondering again where are the good drivers for R2 RTM?

Can you be it someone from Dell and or this forum please send information on these issues?

#1: driver compatibility of matrix for Windows Server 2008 R2 running on PE1950 and connected to an MD3000i PE2950 is a supported configuration?  (Code R2 RTM was released to Microsoft volume license customers)

#2: the network drivers for the host machines included in the support of Windows Server 2008 R2 RTM?  If this is true, are the drivers MPIO for MD3000i and iSCSI Dell other platforms included in the support of Windows Server 2008 R2 RTM as well then?

#3: If all the answers are not questions #1 and #2... could someone PLEASE contact people of pilot certification on Dell to see if they are same in QA at this point, if they plan to update and display an estimated date of implementation?  We have contacted tech support, but received very vague answers on anything with R2 at this stage.  There is a business directory and a path to escelation for support tickets, but the midrange as this makes it much easier to share information for the masses, we just have not yet found.

Thanks for your information, comments and your support!

    OptimalState

I was finally sent to someone who could give me some information on this within Dell, here's what they said:

    PE 1950/2950 drivers:

The pilot should be included natively in Windows Server 2008 R2 media, and if so, would these drivers would be supported by Dell in a production scenario.

    MD3000i:

I know that we will not issue a new MDSM which will fund 2008 R2 until sometimes in October. The MD3000i requires MPIO to the MD3000i and Dell drivers driver installation to work properly. I'll see if there is other information that I can find. I understand your frustration and engineer told me that this has been corrected in the next MDSM and MD3000i firmware version in October.

So, it looks like October before MD3000i will be supported.

  • Transfer from one server to another

I have an old HP ProLiant with ColdFusion 10 Server on it.   The server is provided Government running Windows Server 2003. It is desperately slow, in particular via the VPN to my company.  SysAdmin in the office gave a VM Windows 2008 R2 server for me and I'm trying to transfer from the old server to the new.   It's a development database.   I downloaded and installed Oracle 11 g on the new server, imported from the old database and the code.  Oracle allows you to download and use the software for free if it is a single-user development machine.   I feel that Adobe doesn't do the same thing with CF.   What is the process to transfer the license?   This project is end of life, my client of Government is unwilling to spend money on a new server or a new software.   Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can install the free version of ColdFusion developer if it is used only for development purposes.

  • How to view upgrade 4.6 to 5.2

    Hello

I want to improve my VMware View VMware view Horizon 5.2 4.6.0 environment.

My vCenter Server (including View Composer), the connection mode and the Security Server run Windows Server 2003 R2 32 bit.

Due to the requirements of view OS 5.2 I install new Server 2008 R2 VMs for vCenter, see Security Server and connecting to the server.

My version of vCenter is 4.0 U4

I have pools with computers office linked Clone and persistent drives, this is the reason why I want to upgrade instead of creating a new environment and migrate the pools with Golden Master.

The rest of my upgrade procedure:

Install new virtual machines View (view CS and SS) 5.2 and connect these server in the environment of 4.6 view.

The login server must replicate all the information.

Delete the view 4.6 CS - and SS-server.

Upgrade to vCenter Server (install Server 2008 R2-> import 4.0 vCenter Server database and database of the composer)

    This procedure is possible?

If not, what is the best way?

    Thanks in advance.

    Best regards

    Georg

It is advisable to have all servers in a group replicated to the same version.   That being said I'd install Server 2008 in the group with the 4.6 install, allow replication to occur, remove the old servers, and then you spend the 2008 4.6 install 5.2.    I also assume that you will upgrade composer as part of the upgrade of the view so that you can test the commissioning and then move the databases to the new vCenter 2008?

    (1) the option of Microsoft iSCSI initiator descarto directly por lo that there is hablamos en otro post as shelter.  You can reach a pudiendo el performance of Vcpu al usar misma CPD para iSCSI is the VM.

    (2) the option of crear las unidades RAW acceso mediante me dijeron than era muy recomendable. SE me plantea una duda con esta opcion. If por algun reason tengo mover the VM has otro storage, puedo moverlo con directly VMotion?. Tengo back equalogic, if the first falla tengo suerte of tener otra equalogic that poder mover of formed temporal los discos. ¿podria to get a mover una unidad RAW of the misma forma puedo mover than a virtual disk? Dando a migration Quebec mueva todo y a the diga donde...

    (3) virtual disk to add a VM of the. This option is no se tal behaved of performance o If tiene alguna pega.

    MUCHAS gracias,.

    Saludos.

    Hola como estas?

    Esto you can serve.

    http://www.VMware.com/files/PDF/performance_char_vmfs_rdm.PDF (ex of forma detailed)

The mayoria of los casos para will be replaced by Recomiendan use discos Office VMDK, menos that exista una necesidad especifica, como crear a MSCS Cluster, Quebec requiera el uso clubs RDM.

    • Taken by el uso instant.

Tanto los discos VMDK como los discos RDM tienen features similar performance, por lo as esto no debiera ser a relevant factor was the hora to define el tipo do clubs use.

En as casos podemos better use RDM discos?

    • Para configurar a MSCS Cluster in una Cluster config between boxes.
    • Para configurar una MV para usar NPort ID Virtualization (NPIV)
    • By using tools of Administration United Nations of SAN storage nativas.  For example, perform Snapshots has storage level, Replicación a level of storage, etc.
    • If requerimos adjuntar una LUN existente a MV, sin than sea formateada como esta una a VMFS Datastore.  For example, the LUN adjuntar a file server.  This can be of utility Esto con el end of avoid además the Migración of large volumes of data a UN disco VMDK during a P2V conversion.
    • Para eliminate potential compatibility problems o please than las applications to ejecuten in ambiente virtualizado sin perder na none.
    • Para run software of administration of SAN desde the MV, y este tiene impacto directo en the LUN.

RDM compatibility o en física virtual?

In case of decide use RDM discos, to debe decide además TR use el virtual compatibility mode o el modo compatibility física.

    • Modo de virtual compatibility: Este modo virtualiza completely el device Editor, el cual appears in the virtual Máquina como a UN volumen VMFS virtual disco.  Este modo benefits of VMFS, the protection of datos como los provee y el uso of Snapshots.
    • Physical compatibility mode: Este modo provee acceso a las caracteristicas del device editor material most.  VMKernel pasa todos los comandos SCSI al device, exponiendo este modo todas las caracteristicas del physical material subyacente.

El virtual compatibility mode are el recomendado para los casos, a menos most what requiera explicitamente el uso of the physical compatibility.  For example, en UN sober Microsoft Windows Server 2008 Failover Cluster, is it requires a persistent group (PMP) SCSI-3, which booking are available solo in utilizando RDM en física compatibility mode.

Al use discos RDM en modo compatibility fisica we must consider what habra una series of funcionalidades that there is no be available encontraran:

    • Snapshots.  Esto especially can be muy crítico, whereas muchas respaldo soluciones, como vDR sub-granting del uso of Snapshots.
    • vMotion; No posible mover are not con una MV vMotion RDM compatibility física en con.
    • Clonado of stupid MV RDM compatibility fisica en.
    • No en are posible convert MV una con discos RDM modelUnited Nations.

Al use RDM virtual compatibility mode en discos to pueden superar casi todas estas reduced, permitting the use of vMotion, snapshot y Clonado of VM.

Cada tipo disco tiene advantages claras y and/or, y del uso as the al disco daremos depends decision.  For example, if el disco will be used por una base datos con muchas helps, will be replaced by Recomiendan el uso clubs in thick formato, are only in formato thin el disco creceria muy rapidamente el uso injustificado doing this type of nightclubs.

Guide is thick and/or of Provisioning:

    • Config y Monitoreo of storage mas simple
    • Fault tolerance Soporte en para VMware
    • Menos in el espacio uso eficiente
    • Mayores costos storage

Advantages y and/or of Thin provisioning

    • El costo of storage to reduce
    • Thin Provisioning aumenta of El riesgo quedarse sin espacio in a data store.  Este riesgo can be mitigado using alarmas is deferred storage.
    • SE deben monitorear y crear alarmas apropiadas.

Hello, I am charged with moving that customers 2 of our current of 2 to VMware host separate Windows 7 64-bit PCs TEMPORARILY so that I can install for free ESXi 5.1 as the new host (replacing the current host, which is a Standard operating system Windows Server 2003 on a server Dell Poweredge 2950 using VMware Server 1.0.10).  After the ESXi installation on the server, I intend to spend both clients as they exist now to the new ESXi host.

I have a few questions about this project, and I hope I can pull your knowledge to help me.  My question is:

    (1) is this a feasible plan?

    (2) what methods would you recommend using?

    (3) should what tools I use?

    (4) can what version of VMware (free) I use on the 2 Windows 7 workstations to serve temporary guest?  A customer is our Standard Windows 2003 domain controller, and the 2nd is an email server and Linux-based web.  I intended to put each on a separate office.

Any help you offer is greatly appreciated!

You can use vmware player as a free virtual machine player.

Use vmware converter to convert your servers.

Is not recommneded for convert DCs however, what you might do, it is to build a new one. However, it is possible.

  • Windows Server 2008 VM closing evening

I have a service request open with VMware on this point, but at the moment, it is a head scratcher, and I thought that I post here to see if anyone has any ideas.

I have a cluster ESXi 4 consisting of four blades Cisco UCS B250-M2, each with 12 processor cores and 384GB of RAM. They are connected through a 10 GB uplink to a Nexus 5 K, and the storage is fibre channel LUNS on an EMC NS-480.

We manage only about 150 VM of the consisting of a combination of 2008 and Windows Server 2003 servers.

What we noticed a few months ago who is pretty much every night, we would have a couple of Windows 2008 servers who would just stop and power back up. Not a BSOD or a stop, but an unexpected shutdown. As we continued to deploy virtual machines more the problem seems worse to where we would have 5-6 VM stop every night, sometimes twice a night. This is not always the same virtual machine, but he always seemed to be a few among a group of about 20 servers that kept do.

We studied about all aspects of the operating system thinking it had something to do with antivirus or updates Windows, kicking off in the night, but we went to the top of nothing after a week of exhaustive research.

As an idea, I decided to spend 10 VM Windows 2008 that have been constantly crashing to another cluster running ESXi 5. Once I did, the accidents stopped. The interesting thing is that the servers that I moved to ESXi5 has stopped crashing, but we also ceased to have accidents on the ESXi4 cluster.

I started to think that maybe we hit a capacity issue any. So last night I have deployed 10 test Windows 2008 to the ESXi4 cluster servers and waited. Of course, in the night, we had about 6 servers (including 2 new servers test) start to close again.

So now I'm trying to understand what it is in this environment that makes these Windows 2008 servers stops. It does not affect 2003 servers, only the servers from 2008, and not all, only some of them.

Can someone shed light on this or give me something to look for?

Good to know, I don't know the GSS VMware will be able to help on this.

I think that you cannot change the status of a response useful, but too bad.

Else, we can help you, just shout!

    -L'executable memory will too

-Oracle is a multithreaded Windows process, so memory consumption goes also to the different client that are connected to the database session.

This means, you consume approximately 3G of memory beyond the LMS, and it is quite reasonable.

So if you want to make sure that oracle consumes less than 8G memory, you have two options

    -reduce the SGA

You spend more than 50 percent of the memory of the SGA. Oracle has never recommended that

You might be willing to v$ sga_target_advisor allows you to see the impact of this change.

You may also set your SQL queries

-the second option you have is to stop Oracle.

For sure it will use less than 8G in this solution.
