SPI Vista

I had to use my Vista recovery disk.  I have installed all Windows updates.  He says of them successfully installed verybody.   I even checked the list of updates, and each of them said "successful!"   But SP1 seems to not be installed... it does not show on the start...  Computer... List of properties of the basic information about my computer and my computer would not allow me to install SP2 because it said that SP1 is required!  So what happened?   No help from Microsoft, such as Support for Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) ended July 12, 2011.    If I'm stuck?  SP1 no longer appears on my list of updates to be done, and I've tried several times to install SP1 from the download page of Microsoft without success!

You can also try asking in the Windows Update forum.

Windows Defender is the base defense that is provided with Windows. This is where if you have the defense long enough to get a real anti-virus program. If nothing else you should get Microsoft Security Essentials for free here:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-CA/security_essentials/default.aspx

It will offer a lot more security than the Defender.

I also recommend getting (also free) malwarebytes from www.malwarebytes.org who is a good anti-malware for the MSE scanner may not be able to find little things.

I don't understand exactly how errors in the two newspapers are related, but my opinion is that, if I can solve my CheckSUR.log errors, CBS.log errors will disappear to, and then I might even be able to install SP1.

Any help that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.

    1 person needs an answer

For what is interesting, what I ended up doing to solve my problems was to re - install Vista with the 'upgrade' option, so I don't lose any of my files or desktop settings...

After that, I had a few problems with my OS reinstalled with several (80 +) updates, SP1 and SP2 from catching up.  But overall these problems were minor compared to it, that I lived just to fix some missing files.

  • Impossible to install Vista updates

I use Vista 32 bit, family premium, SP1, latest installed update is KB955430. Download and install the updates seem to work - until the moment where my system wants to "configurations". Here, the system stops and removes the installed updates.

    What I've done so far:

-Tried to install SP2 - no success

-Tried to install the file "MicrosoftFixit50202.msi" - with no success

-Tried to install the file "au_check_v78f.exe" - no success

-Follow all the steps (manually, too) of http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?scid=kb%3ben-us%3b971058&x=10&y=4 - unsuccessfully

The 'CBS log.zip' file indicates a missing file without saying which file it should be.

It makes me crazy... Please advice what else should I do to install the latest Vista updates successfully. Thank you very much.

Download and run the preparation tool for Windows Vista (KB947821) system update. He's trying to fix the problems, which may prevent you from installing Sp2 and other updates. This tool generates a checkSUR.log file C:\Windows\Logs\CBS. Open it and see if there are still questions that cannot be resolved.

Do a start-up in minimal mode and tr to install Sp2 it. Perhaps other tools to block installation of the Sp2.

Hi, I tried to install SP2 on my current Vista Home Premium SP 1.  However, no matter what I try, I receive the ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED.  And I tried several ways, including:

The story is that I got this because she has lost the power cord and battery drained and she said she had "problems" - no details and do not ask a 20-year-old. I upok TI started and everything worked except for a bunch of boot errors (Delldock has stopped working, wireless tray stopped working and others). Understand that these may have been caused by additional Dell free trial software or perhaps spies/virus software. She had Defender and no antivirus. Also, he had 52 Windows updates pending (recommended) and 3 (option). I hit update and ran a few hours and froze. I turned off and restarted and thought maybe a virus problem and load of F-Secure (from my ISP) and spyware doctor and ran and no real problems. So, I'll stop, rebooted, set the automatic updates to run daily at 1:00, woke and it would close down with running updates (was on 2 of 4) is home from work 11 hours later and always on 2 of the 4. My patience tried me and I turn it off. Able to reboot and there were only 6 Microsoft updates. Read a Dell thread that Delldock causes all kinds of problems with the pop-up windows and cutting programs I went into the Panel and struck to remove it. Ran a few minutes and froze and went to blue screen and made a sort of receiving data. Then the unbootable condition above. As said, I can't get any type of shoe to do anything, even to a resettlement drive. I'm not very computer smart and very uptight. Suggestions?

    Hello

You have the CD/DVD in 1st in the boot order? (not only have others disabled).

That error is the most often material and because it will be not boot from the Vista disc, which are pretty
much confirmed. Try changing the memory in and out. For anything else, you will need technical support
a real computer store (no leeks or pointed to a BestBuy or other BigBox stores) or Dell
Supported. Could be a new hard drive is necessary but there could be other systemic causes.

  • Vista and Admin

I installed Palm Desktop on my Vista Home PC using my admin account. During the installation all my data was hotsynced in the admin folder.

Now, when I run Palm Desktop I have no access to the admin folder. And curiously HotSync runs as an admin for I can 'sync' the device.

So my question is what is the appropriate means to install or use it so that "ordinary" users can access their own devices/files without becoming admins?

Manual glosses on this saying of problem just follow the instructions.

Hello pazhk and welcome to the forums of Palm.

You must add your Windows account to the Administrators group in Windows.  You will be granted the same privileges as the administrator account.  You will need to make this change, when logged in as an administrator.  When you log on as yourself, you will have the role of high security in Windows.

Now go to a head, and reinstall Palm Desktop and HotSync your Palm on your computer.  If you wish, also install some third party applications or conducted HotSync and HotSync again to make sure that everything works.

At this point, you can either the role of high safety level in place or you can revoke.  Personally, I have it reverse as more every day do not require you the level of security which ensures the role of admin computing needs.  Revoke the security role also makes your computer less vulnerable to spies, virus software, etc.

  • Music from Apple on Windows Vista

    Hello

I want to subscribe to Apple music etc, but the upgrade will not take effect, apparently due to the fact that my laptop running Windows Vista. Of course, this is not normal? How can I subscribe to the Apple's music on the Windows Vista system without being forced to invest in a costly upgrade of my operating system?

    Hello

You cannot use Apple music on Windows vista. iTunes 12.3 or later is required for Apple music. If you want to use Apple music you need to update your operating system (computer?).

  • I'm running Thunderbird ver15 under Win Vista. Gmail considers ver15 a low security application. How updated to a version that works with Gmail?

This worm is working great for years. Suddenly, Gmail could not accept my sign-in. I have auto day together in Thunderbird, but it won't go past worm 15. Only after that I changed the setting in Gmail to enable low security Gmail applications would allow me in my emails via Thunderbird. I could connect to Gmail via the web very well, but not via Thunderbird. Could this be a problem with Vista?

    Thank you
    Richard

Then I tried to configure server authentication to "OAuth2" method, but this option was not available. in the drop-down list.

"OAuth2" only works for IMAP accounts. For POP "Normal password" is required, either in "allow applications that are less safe" or authentication step 2.

You can set if "OAuth2' for SMTP server outgoing.

When your problem has been fixed can you mark the thread as "solved" Please?
    Thank you.

  • Basics of microsoft, as installed on vista, still works after that I have switch to firefox?

I am moving from Vista to Firefox and want to know if Microsoft Essentials will continue to run after I made the change. MSE has preformed well for many years and I would like to avoid having to change to another anti-virus program.

Actually, you will still have Windows Vista, even if you use Firefox rather than the browser Internet Explorer (IE) that comes with Windows.

Another browser of your choice requires no modification of your security software. Also, it does not replace your security software. Unlike some programs that require special configuration steps, Firefox and Microsoft Essentials should get along very well.

  • Every time I have download and install updates to vista security I have reinstall mozilla firefox, why?

Whenever I have download and install the vista security updates I lose Mozilla Firefox. The program and the icon still exist but do not respond. By clicking on the icon or clicking on the program files does produce absolutely no response.
So any time I install updates, I have to run internet explore and firefox redownload. Most annoying. Help.
P.S. Yes, firefox is my default browser.

Some problems occurs when your Internet security program has been implemented.
trust the previous version of Firefox, but not more acknowledges your
update as being approved. Now how do I solve the problem: to allow
Firefox to connect to the Internet

    • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (for example, you are using the latest version).
    • Delete Firefox to list your program of programs approved or recognized. For detailed instructions, see

    Configure the firewall so that Firefox can access the Internet. {web link}

  • Windows Vista-> Windows 10

    Hello.

I have a problem with my Windows Vista to Windows 10 computer upgrade.
Microsoft has said that it cannot obtain free Windows 10 update, if you have Windows 7/8.1, but you should be able to get on Windows Vista, I think...

When I open the installer of Windows 10, or media creation tool, that's what's happening:

    10 Windows Installer:

Can you please help me to get 10 Windows on my computer.

This isn't a problem of Firefox support. Take up with a ten Windows support forum.
