spontaneous group message

Hi all

I have a strange problem.  I received a group text from a friend who had included another number.  The message was obviously not intended to be sent to my number, but only the other number.  I took a screenshot of the message group and it just for him do knowing that she had included inadvertently sent me.  A few days later, I got a text from the same friend that was planned for his mother.  I wrote chalked it up to the accident, but she is convinced that I have installed something on his phone to be able to read its messages.  I surely did not.  His device is a 6 + and mine is 5s.  I have a few questions:

1. is there a malware or a similar application out there that does this (people of bedbugs on the singular messages), or is this a phenomenon others have heard of?

2. What can I ask to check so she'll know, I did nothing for her phone and am not responsible for stray messages?  Can she take her phone to the Apple Store and have them check maybe?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, it's really cause some problems in the friendship

If it's the TEXT you refer to and not iMessage then it would be a matter of carrier - but that said - have your friend check the contacts of at least the following

1. the person who has the original text was intended and the numbers that are included

2. the mother your friend's phone number

3. ask if it will remove your contact details - restart the phone - restart your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch - Apple Support - and then add your contact back in

Of course, since the problem is random and intermittent - it would be somewhat difficult to predict if whatever it is taken care of him assuming that it is not repeated.

Send a message from your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch - Apple Support Group

This is possible with an imessage group all users using an Apple device.

You can't do it for a group message MMS - mix Apple and not Apple device device.

  • How to group messages between different phones

Hi, my friend just got a Galaxy and told us we could still message group with my other friend and I of the iphone. But its been three days and my friends on the Galaxy can only get our messages when they are sent only to him directly. Is there a way to fix this? or at least make it if our group messages can still function...

    Hello

If your friend was previously using an iPhone, ask them to check that she struck out iMessage / off iMessage, now that she's using a non-Apple Phone:

  • Disable the group messages

My group of messages has been turned OFF and yet I keep getting responses from people outside the message.  In other words, my mother's iMessage me.  It will look like that just only my mother until I get a text separated from someone else, that she sent the Group message.  Then... My texts do not arise in the form of group messages, but I get RESPONSE of EACH and their.  I end up getting texts from 1 million foreigners and answers to everything from everyone.  How can I stop this? Someone please help - it is becoming so annoying!

This is because your mother included you in a text for the group. You have no control over this. Separate responses are because they always have you included in the created group your mother. Your mother needs to withdraw from the draft of the group.

  • Unable to group message when an android user is involved

Also recently there is 6-9 months, I could text of the group with a particular set of contacts, and then all of a sudden my attempts to send texts of this same set of contacts group failed with "unable to deliver.  I stopped receiving their texts of the group.  I tried texting each contact individually and managed.  I tested other contacts and texts of the group, and those who have succeeded as well.  Finally, I have narrowed the problem down to a particular contact that uses an Android device - when this contact is involved in a group text so I can't send or receive messages from this group text.  Other iPhone users are able to text with this contact group - the problem seems to be related to my iPhone.

Contact Android has never owned an iPhone, so it is not bound in the middle of old iPhone sound that is left behind on Apple iTunes config.

I tried to remove and re-add that particular contact, remove all my messages, hard, reboot, upgrade to the latest iOS, etc.. Nothing works.  Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    Hi trask77,

Thank you for using communities Support from Apple!

It seems that you are having problems with the group with an Android user messaging.  You can find the following articles useful: send a message from your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch - Apple Support Group

If you cannot send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch - Apple Support

In addition, if you have the person using the remove device Android conversation and then start a new group message to see if it allows messages to go through.

    See you soon!

  • Group Messaging

I recently bought the Iphone 6 s more, but subsequently found that option group messaging no is not available in--> Message framework-->? No group messaging option! Therefore impossible to send group messages. Kindly help me there to address.

For the parameter to appear for group messaging, you must have activated the MMS messaging. To activate it, you must have MMS in your messaging plan. You must also have enabled data if use in iMessage.

  • iMessage misappropriation of Group Messages after cancel registration

    Hello

I recently turned to a Samsung Galaxy phone after a series of recent frustrations with my iPhone 6.  I followed all the instructions from Apple more than a week before you switch phones, including the signing of iMessage, FaceTime, etc. and unregister iMessage on the support site.  iPhone users can now send me different SMS messages without problem, but I can't group message with the users of the iPhone, as iMessage diverts the wire and I never see any message but my own.  It is a huge problem for me because we use texts of the Group largely to work.  I opened a bug with the following report:

Summary: After switching to an Android device and correctly following the instructions of Apple unregistered iMessage and FaceTime, I am still unable to receive messages from iPhone users group. They will receive my messages in the form of group MMS texts, but their yields are sent as iMessage and I (obviously) never received it. This has been a problem for years, but has apparently resolved. It is a major issue for anyone who switches between multiple devices.

    Steps to reproduce:

    (1) have an iPhone on a cell line with turned on iMessage.

    2) unregister iMessage and FaceTime, and then swap your SIM card in a phone Android 24 hours or more after.

    (3) send a group message to some iPhone users.

    (4) they will receive your messages as SMS/MMS, but their statements will be sent as iMessage and so lost.

Expected results: iOS devices should recognize that the device that they sponsor is not compatible iMessage and default return of SMS/MMS Messages as expected.

Actual results: complete failure, with iMessages lost in the ether and interrupted communication.

    Version: 9.2 / 13 c 75

    Notes:

    Configuration:

IOS9 iPhone switched to the Samsung Galaxy S6 after following Apple recommends steps to unregister from iMessage. Also reproducible simply turn off iMessage and trying to use the SMS of traditional group on an iPhone with iOS 9.

This is the response I got:

    Apple Developer Relations21-Dec-2015 10:17

Engineering has provided the following information about this issue: that's right. The group, if she's never iMessage, will not downgrade to MMS. If you have had at some point in the past sent an MMS to this group we would allow downgrade of the group. Basically, if unsubscribe iMessage in one group of iMessage we don't downgrade the conversation to a weaker technology.

I can't imagine that their strategy of engineering must divert ability group for users e-mail constantly, so I sent the following response:

Although Apple cannot divert definitely my ability to group with iPhone users message - there must be a method to solve this problem. How did I go on group messaging with iPhone owners that use iMessage? Deletion and recreation of these threads do not work for iPhone users, even those who can me message directly, as the new thread converts iMessage and I'm still cut out of the conversation. I can't imagine that Apple engineering strategy is to break the ability to e-mail for each user who passes off the platform.

You all have my question is this: someone could resolve this problem and resume the group messaging with iPhone via MMS instead of iMessage users after the passage? Engineering response seems like it would be incorrect (and it also seems that it would somehow illegal/immoral to permanently divert number someone if it was actually true).

Any help you can provide would be great.

    Thank you!

I met just that as well. I had to disable the Group MMS on my new phone just to receive texts from my roommates. It is unacceptable behavior if there is really no work around beyond disabling group MMS.

  • The vulnerability is the CC and the fields of e-mail when sending group messages?

I have a friend who is a challenge to me when I advised her to use the BCC field instead of the CC field to send group messages.
I've been in there for years and this was one of the fundamental pieces of advice that we would give users on our network to prevent the spread of the virus and spam and to be perfectly honest, I thought it was a given since e-mail is sent in plaintext and therefore can be analyzed.  The question I have, are vulnerable to what Email address when it is used in the CC field or virus and malware seeks to steal addresses?  Also to throw away spammers as well.

    Thank you, sugi2k.

    Hi sugi2k,

With assistance from the ICC is also how to send group messages, but I do it mainly for individual members of the group do not get to see all addresses of electronic mail to any person to whom I sent the message.  As far as I know, there is no almost difference between using the field or the CC field to send emails (although IAB a little better to hide the address, but it can still be found if you are the recipient or the sender of this JIU).  In general, this isn't how the malware and hackers work.  That's all simply too cumbersome and time-consuming to do by checking the addresses in the individual emails (if it is possible and very difficult to defend against if they can intercept the mail-, but generally found from the account of the recipient and not the sending account and generally because that most people choose to automatically add new senders of e-mail to their list of contacts and this is where the vulnerability usually occurs).

Here is an article on the differences between the BCC and CC: http://email.about.com/od/emailnetiquette/a/cc_and_bcc.htm.  You will notice that it addresses of anonymity than the main on safety (but there are benefits of security regarding anonymity and the inabiility of other recipients to view the BCC recipients).

Most malware and piracy occurs because someone comes to your contact list or address book or see everything simply your email address somewhere (maybe of you sent to someone who has been infected or a real pirate) and uses different techniques to make it look like SPAM and other things they send is from you when you're not actually send anything.  If they arrived at your list of book or contact addresses or someone that you are listed as a contact (probably using another method - I don't think these fields themselves are more susceptible to malware or hacking than anything else on your computer - if they have installed the keystroker malicious software or programs (everything that you type can be made available to them, unless detect you and remove malware or hacking tool), they can send to each of them (probably with an attempt to infect their systems included as well).

In short, while they are not invulnerable, they are as safe as anything else (although IAB will limit the number of people who see the addresses of any group that can help their share where you don't know if they have been compromised) on your system.  The real problem with the e-mails is not sending them, but to receive for having "a surprise" with her that compromise your system and allows a person access to your contacts or address book - but they will not often also for entries in the messages sent and if they do, then the entries to one of these fields on your computer If it has been compromised is possible (not only e-mails but documents and about anything).

If you are concerned that these things, use a program to encrypt messages and require recipients to have a decryption code to open.  It can still be broken by a pirate, but is much more difficult and requires a much more sophisticated hacker.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

    1. If you already have the name in your regular contact list...
Open Windows Mail > click Contact > scroll down to find the contact group you have already created, open it > in your properties window of 'group', clickAdd to Contact Group > you put the name you want, click on it > click Add > name is now within the group.
