  • Print Spooler service keeps stopping

search forums/try solutions throughout the day, but still frustrated. I have upgraded from vista home premium to windows 7 Home premium. seemed to lose my main printer (canon mf4150) and when you try to reinstall, found my continuous stop print spooler service. I changed its automatic startup, as well as its dependencies, but it stops very quickly after I start it (its dependencies are started). I don't know even how to check that drivers etc are installed more, because I can't shoot to the top of the list of printers without this service. Help?

I was hoping just to see.  I don't really want to import the key into my system.

At this stage because the spooler starts not and you have already exported your key drivers.  I start by exporting the Print all button and then remove the print drivers and print processors under the key environmental.  Just the driver not any key.

Then start the spooler.  Open devices and printers, this will initialize the spooler, rather than having to wait 30 to 60 seconds, if no printing information is requested.

    Click on add a printer

If the wizard starts the spooler is running.  If you get the error spooler does not work, then it's time to remove some entries from registry of the monitor.  Alan Morris Windows printing team; Here Microsoft Knowledge Base search: http://support.microsoft.com/search/Default.aspx?adv=1

  • the Windows spooler service error

I am trying to reinstall the printer software, but keep getting windows critical error spooler service does not start. How to cure the problem

Note: "the title of this post was published to help other customers to easily find this topic in their search results."

    Hi Phil,

Thanks for posting this question in the Microsoft Community Forums.

From you description of the problem, I see that the Windows print spooler service is stopped.

Let us work together to start the print spooler service.

However, before we start, we need more information to better understand this issue. Please answer these questions.

    1. What is the exact error message that you receive?

    2. which version of the Windows operating system is installed on the computer?

    3. What is the brand and model of the printer?

    4. when exactly you receive the error message?

    5. don't you make changes to the computer before this problem?

Let us try to start the Windows Print Spooler Service:

To do this, follow these steps:

    a. on the desktop, press the Windows key + R to open the dialog box run.

    b. type services.msc (in the search bar) and press enter.

    c. scroll down the Services window and right-click on print spooler.

    d. Select Properties.

    e. in the general tab, click Start and make sure that the Startup Type is Automatic.

    f. click apply and OK.

This will start the print spooler service.

Now, try to reinstall the printer software and check if it works.

Please get back to us with the results and more information on the issue.

Can you please try the following:

    (1) Press Win + r (run the window will open)

    (2) type "services.msc" and press ENTER.

    (3) in the window that opens, locate the "Print spooler" service

    (4) make a right click on the "Print spooler" service and select 'Start Service'.

If the spooler service was stopped, then this should help solve the problem.

  • Force the print to stop/restart spooler service when it does not

Our office has a HP plotter, where the driver (note that we have the latest version, directly from the HP site) seems to cause the print spooler service becomes out of order sometimes.  In turn of the programs (including AutoCAD and Outlook) to lock, as well as windows, as the dialog box, which causes devices and printers.

If I restart the 'Services' print spooler service in computer management, it goes back to work at least some time - if at least I can work around the problem.  It is important to note however, that even by using this method, it throws a dialog box error saying that the service failed.  But since this is a question with all facilities of this liner installed with Vista, I need to have a method easier to use of the service is restarted.

I wrote a file .bat base with a net stop spooler command followed by a net start spooler command, but the problem is that, unlike with computer management, net stop does not seem to force the service to shut down if it does not, and I can't find a way to force the stop command.

Is there a tool more powerful/switch available that I could script so that users can easily stop and restart the spooler service when it does not?

    Thank you

    Hello

This error occurs because the spooler service has not been started or has stopped working.
It seems that this error is known to Microsoft and they decided to public an article in the knowledge base that could help solve this problem.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314876

As you say that the spooler service must be restarted.
To start the spooler service, follow these steps:
    1. click on start and then click Control Panel.
    2. double-click Administrative Tools and then click Services.
    3. double-click on the Printer Spooler service and then change the startup type to automatic. This option sets the spooler service starts automatically when you restart the computer.
    4. If you want to start the spooler service immediately, click the Start button under the Service status field

If you will not be able to restart the spooler service, you can try to restore the Windows operating system to the point initially by using the Windows System Restore tool.
