Try this

Go to programs and features in Control Panel > on features Windows turn on or off

2. click on + sign of printing services

3. Select LPD and LPR. You must remove the Internet printing Client. > restart your PC to ensure there is no error in the spooler service.

4. Add once again your printer driver.

  • Print to PDF - Thunking spooler stops working

When you print a document in Word 2007 to create a PDF file (I have Acrobat 9), I now get an error message that says "Thunking spooler APIs from 32 to 64 process has stopped working".  The PDF is created, but that part of the document is printed.  I did that for awhile on this system, XP Edition Vista 64 family, without problem.  But recently it started and I can't create PDF documents in Word 2007.  When searching on the microsoft.com site, I can't find anything on it.  Thanks in advance for any help.

    markbgardner,
Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers community forum.

If it is a 64-bit version of Vista, then your problem may be related to the try to print from a 32-bit program on a 64-bit operating system.  There is a fix for this problem here:
You experience problems when you try to print a document in a 32-bit program on a computer that is running a 64 bit version of Windows Vista
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/941962/en-us

If that solves not, try to uninstall and reinstall the printer driver.  It is possible that the drive got corrupted.

Also try to run a System File Checker:
To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:
Click Start and type cmd in the box start the search.
Right click on cmd in the list programs, and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue
At the command prompt, type the following line and press ENTER:
    sfc/scannow
When the analysis is complete, test to see if the problem you are experiencing is resolved.

If this does not work, you can do a system restore to a point in time where he worked:
To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:
Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
In the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.
In the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.
    Click Finish.
The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.

Let us know if you need more assistance.

I recommend that you perform a repair installation.  It would be the fastest way and repair you the computer and while still keeping your documents.  PLEASE SAVE YOUR SYSTEM VISTA FIRST.  The link below explains how to perform a repair installation.  After your installation, verify that Windows update works before installing anything.

    Hello

The problem is probably AVG which has caused a lot of problems lately for 8.x and 9.x.

Frankly, I would delete it. Download but do not install the replacements until AFTER you remove AVG
    and restarted.

For ALL - download - SAVE - go to where you put it-right-click on Reboot - RUN AS ADMIN - when you have finished

Here's what I use and recommend:

Avast and Prevx proved extremely reliable and compatible with everything I threw at them.
Microsoft Security Essentials and Prevx have also proven very reliable and compatible.

Avast Home free - stop any shields is not necessary except away from Standard, Web and network is working.

    Prevx - Home - free

    Windows Firewall

Windows Defender (is not necessary if you use MSE)

    Protected IE - mode

IE 8 - SmartScreen filter WE (IE 7 phishing filter)

I also IE always start with asset if filter InPrivate IE 8.
(Sometimes you have to temporarily turn off with the little icon to the left of the + bottom right of IE)

Avast - stop home - free - all shields you do no need except leave Standard, Web and network running.
(Double-click the blue icon - details look OK. - upper left Shields - those that you do not cancel).
    http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Or use Microsoft Security Essentials - free
    http://www.Microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/

Prevx works well alongside MSE or Avast

Prevx - Home - small, fast, exceptional CLOUD free protection, working with other security programs. It comes
a scan only, VERY EFFICIENT, if it finds something to come back here or use Google to see how to remove.

Also get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. If you ever suspect malware, and that would be unusual with
Avast and Prevx running except a low occasional (not much), updated cookie and then run it as
a scanner. I have a lot of scanners and they never find anything of note that I started to use this configuration.
