SRW2048 - trunk port

Hello

I have a question according to the behavior of the trunk port.

I need to connect Linksys Cisco Catalyst switch. On the catalyst I've implemented the port in trunk mode.

I also put the SRW2048 port in trunk mode. But the switches are not able to communicate with each other.

Is it possible to implement on the SRW2048 to accept all VLAN Tags on the trunk port. Because it looks like

be slightly different behavior of cisco switches where are all the VLAN to the trunk mode port.

I don't speak dot1q encapsulation (tag VLAN)

The switch has the new firmware: v1.2.2d

Thank you for your response.

Juraj

In contrast to the catalyst, the SRW does not automatically add all the VLANS on the switch to a trunk port. Instead, you must do all your Member VLAN trunk mode port.

In safe mode the PVID is 1 VLAN by default. You can do this by entering the command #switchport trunk vlan native {number of vlan}. If Cisco is configured to accept and send the marked packets and has an IP address in the subnet of VLAN 20, it should be able to communicate with other devices in VLAN 20.

  • Priority of VLAN on a Trunk port

What is the easiest way to give a single VLAN a higher priority than the other on a trunk port?  I have two VLANS, VLAN 10 and by default.  I want to VLAN 10 to have a 802 .1p priority 6 and I want the default VLAN priority of 2.  Is it possible in basic QOS mode, or do I need access to advanced mode?

    Thank you!

  • on WAP 321 trunk port

I intend to deploy cisco WAP321 on my client and after rading the document on WAP321, he said the WAP321 support for VLAN ID function, but I can't find that it supports for trunk port because I would like to connect the LAN 321 WAP port to the cisco SMB switch SG300/SG200. is the trunk port already activated on port LAN 321 WAP so I don't have to set up or not?

    need your support and help

Hey Bram. Yes, it supports the trunk. You configure it vlan untagged on the local networking. VLANS with each switch is no problem.

  • The trunk port vs access port speed

I'm going to put in place a 4900M for a temporary training class, for 1 GB PC connected client.  I used an interface of 10 GB with a X 2-10 G - SR which will connect via fiber 62.5 microns, to a 10 GB interface 4948 with an SFP-10 GB - SR.  With respect to the config, I have the installer of the te1/1 4900 M as a port of access to the 4948.  Connectivity is fine, as well as the routing.  But when we use the client connectivity of the PC (connection to 10 GB of storage) drive, we get speeds of great reading but when he tries to write, it slows down and ends in error.

Question 1: Would it make a difference if the 4900M was connected via a trunk port to the 4948?

I think the problem is the maximum length and the length of the fibre 62.5 transmit\receive transceivers, but I want to dismiss the switchport configuration.

I doubt very much if a trunk port change would make a difference.

Certainly not something I've ever met.

  • How to add a VLAN on a trunk port and channal port

    Hi all

I need to set up a configuration details below.

1 how to add several VLANs on Cisco 4500 switch trunk port. (vlan existing also will be there)

    2. I have also 2 4500 switch to shared resources and channel ports.

So my question is should I add new VLANs on the trunk port and port also channel?

    Looking for an answer

It depends on your existing configuration.  If you have not specified WHAT VLAN is allowed, they would be by default.  If this isn't the case, you need to add the VLAN again to the definition of trunk.

Too far again go to that VLAN, that also depends.  IF you have VTP really set up, you have to create the new vlan on one of the master switches in VTP (probably your 4500) and the definition spread to other switches.   If this isn't the case, then you declare new VLANs on each switch that would need them.

  • Use of the Trunk Ports (Cisco) on the management interface

    Hi all

    Background:

We are in the process of consolidation of 2 farms of esx servers and will end up with 10 guests in a single cluster. Guests come from 2 VLAN separate (say 10 of VLANs and vlan 20). A test I took one of the hosts of HA/DRS and tests with it. For HA and DRS to work efficiently and properly in common all resources, we all want vm to leave both VLAN access to move to any host in the cluster.

    The test:

My single host mentioned above, I created 2 groups of ports on a vswitch, vlan10 tag and with vlan20, I deployed a VM and tried on the two IP address ranges. It worked (with the correct settings of defined IP by VLAN) but as soon as we resources shared the port used by the management of network vmkernel port we lost the connection to the HOST from a management perspective. What the question is that it is possible to connect the management network a trunk port? We have 2 network interfaces connected to the vSwitch and both used for the VM traffic as well as management traffic. That's how they are currently implemented except that the switch port is on a VLAN-specific rather than shared resources.

    Thank you very much

    Chris

    Hi Chris

Yes, the network management also accepts the vlan tagging/trunking.

Just add the number VLAN on the Portgroup.

Maybe you can do a printscreen with the current configuration?

  • Cannt get ip dhcp from a trunk port

I have my vmnic0 of management on a trunk port interface. installation fails because it cannot get an IP dhcp on one vlan specific. Is there a way to mark the frame with a tag of VLANs when installing?

Management LAN is 60 VLANS in your environment? One thing you could do is to configure the trunk physical switch port to use VLAN 60 as the "vlan native ', which is unidentified.

This will keep the port as a trunk, but will the management of your NETWORK card to access the network without 802. 1 q of marking.

  • Trunking ports (aggregation of links) does not

    Hello

I have a single server ESX 4 (hp dl380g5), with 2 natachasery connected to a switch hp 2510 - 48g GB. I created a trunk on the switch ports 1 and 2 and they hooked up to two natachasery ESX.

I have only 1 vSwitch in ESX and storage space (no VMkernel) that has the Service Console and the network of the VM. I activated this vSwitch (vSwitch0) on IP Hash load balancing to create a theoretical trunk on my 2 GB cards. The two NICA belong to vSwitch0

When I read/write data to the virtual machine only on trunk ports now seems to manage the data and not both at the same time and with the same flow of data or usage that I expect.

Is this expected behavior? I have something wrong or bad understand something here?

    Thank you

    Pascale

I guess you are aware that the mechanism of hash IP packets with an IP - X to another IP - there are always transmitted only a single port physical thorugh, but never through multiple ports at the same time? Therefore, you will never get an increase in throughput for a single "conversation" between IP - X and IP - Y, no matter how much rising physical your chest has. This is due to potential for learning MAC layer 2 and other issues.

Have you tested with a number of different source/destination IPs connections?

If you have tested only a small number of connections, you could be 'unlucky' that the hash produced the same uplink of Teddy for all connections.

Alternatively, you can view the network esxtop notice to see what Teddy what kind/loads of traffic.

  • Impossible to get trunk port to work on 4402 and 6509

I'm having a problem getting circuits developed on a pair of 4402 I just expdis preconfigured.

    The switches are running Catos.

I've tried both using a SHIFT and individual ports on the WLC, and the only way I can access the WLC is when the switch port is configured as an access port.

Whenever I have change the link mode on, I lose access.

I tried to restart it and that didn't work either.

The subnet manager and ap - manager is in vlan 254, and I put the vlan native of the switch ports to VLANs 254.

I tried all forms of the sheath (desirable, nonegotiate etc.), but I just will not work.

I use this exact set elsewhere without any problems.

Controller was originally on 4.2.130 and is now on 5.1.150.

Someone has an idea or two?

Very well. First make sure that the wlc which management Manager and thus lies on the same vlan. Also, make sure that it is not signposted in the wlc which means that it is set to '0 '. On the trunk dot1q, assign it vlan native what the wlc is configured for. Make sure that you do not have the global command "tag dot1q vlan native. Also male that the service port has an ip address and not routable in your network.

  • multicast on general trunk port

I want to work on my switch 2-port multicast.  How can I do this?   It worked until I changed my ports in general to add a vlan tagged.  Then my multicast has stopped working.

My config is attached.  G1 and g3 are the ports I want multicast job.  What else I need to add to make it work?

    Mark

What traffic from servers is labeled for VLAN 98? If servers sending any traffic tagged VLAN 98, there is no need to have the port general mode.

By default the PVID for mode general is VLAN 1, we don't need to specify to add 1 VLAN as not tagged. That means that we can remove #switchport general allowed vlan add 1 unidentified, the config.

If you place the port mode access for VLAN 1 it starts working again?

    Have you tried with ssmping?

  • ports access the trunk ports - no (or minimal) downtime

Take even for someone and not an expert, so forgive me if it's pretty simple.  I did a lot of research and that you have yet to see a response.

There are 4 hosts in a cluster - Nutanix - are NETWORK adapter, all in 1 GB ports in a single switch for a subnet (let's call him. 128/25) currently configured as access ports - no VLAN ID is set to the vm network ports and we use standard vswitches.  The port group is called "VM Network".

I have 8 new ports on two physical switches now configured with sheath with VLAN ID and 4 VLAN that will be needed in this cluster - where the change.  One of the seront.128/25 subnets I noted above.

If I leave a host, move cables and configure the port groups for each of the 4 subnets calling prod1 thanks prod4, once the host starts the marking of the packages I will able to vmotion for the new configuration, host of one of the other three?

    Thank you

    Mike

    switch0.JPG

Since you can't computers vMotion virtual from one host to another if the port group name is different, my recommendation is:

    1 evacuate VMs to host you want to create new groups of port with tagging VLAN;

    2. create new groups of port with the appropriate names and VLAN.

    3. on the host without tagging VLANS, create groups of ports but without VLAN.

    4. change the network interface virtual VM on the new appropriate port group;

    5. the virtual machines to the new host of vMotion.

  • Trunk port config on Vswitches

Hi all, sorry for the double post, but I put the old thread as "answered" a little too fast, still problems with the trunk of our catalyst for cisco 2960 switch VMware, see the discussion

    "dot1q Native Vlan Trunking Problems."

hope that explains the problem remember clearly,

    Basically,.

in the ESX environment, we have 4 groups, the physical host on all the vlan, a group of servers on vlan 16, an on the vlan 20 and 1 on vlan 30.

In our environment, Cisco vlan native is 100, servers are on vlan16, the trunk for esx server is configured with the following IOS commands:

    int gi0/20

    Description link to Virtual Switch

    switchport mode trunk

    switchport trunk vlan native 16

    switchport trunk allowed vlan 10,16,20,30,99

    spanning tree guard root

    IP-surveillance dhcp trust

We tried with the native trunk on vlan 100, but we have lost connectivity to the host

We want to get the switch working with host physical and VMs on VLAN specific.

Cheers for any help you can give

In your config file, you need to define a vlan 100 native and your service console to use 16 VLAN so your connection does not work as expected.
