SSD for transfer to hard drive does not

So I read a lot of similar questions and nothing isn't really working as they say should

I'm on a Windows 7 system, trying to move my music library on my hard drive to save space, and I got far enough away that I consolidated things and copied the files on the new disk. At this point the files seem to have been moved to E:\Music. The location of the folder iTunes media under Advanced Preferences also says E:\Music. My files are not really organized in my regular music > iTunes > iTunes Media configuration. These subfolders exist, but only a few things are located here - everything else is kind of a mess (after consolidation).

So when I go into iTunes songs can be found and read, the majority remain located with the symbol.

I tried also to the SHIFT, click on icon, choose about library that is mentioned in a lot of other responses, but I can't get this to work, it won't let me open the files, choose them not really. How can I fix?

See make a library of portable split. You should aim to get your library files past in E:\Tunes and your support for E:\iTunes\iTunes Media. According to what you have done so far, there are different approaches that could be taken to repair the library. Can you give more details on what is currently where?

Here are a few articles with possible solutions and its fix for the hard drive problems.  Maybe at least will help any problems you encounter.  I could have provided more targeted recommendations if you had provided more information about what the problem is exactly, when he started, the manufacturer, make and model of drive, how the player does not work - is that it recognized by the system, it appears in Windows Explorerr, the door opens when you press the button...  If the following text does not, provide this and more information about the problem and your configuration maybe we can provide additional assistance.

  • Toshiba Canvio Basics HARD drive does not appear in my computer

    Hello

I have a HDTB110AK3BA - Toshiba 1 TB Canvio Plus Portable Hard Drive for storage 3.0 Basics and the computer will allow it to connect, but it does not appear in my computer / pc is in Device Manager thought but not my pc

Please help and Windows 7 or windows 8.1 PC do the same thing.

    Hello

I found the description of the product of this external HARD disk:

    Product features:
    • USB 3.0 - powered portable add-on storage.
    • Voltage of bus capable USB, no need for AC adapter.
    • Easy to use with no software to install.
    • Adapts to large digital files with spacious storage capacity.
    • Protect your drive (internal shock sensor and ramp loading technology).

    Specifications
    • Capacity: 1.0 TB
    • Interface: USB 3.0
    • Transfer rate: up to 5 Gb/s
    • Speed: 5 400 rpm
    • Average access time: 12ms
    • Cache buffer: 8 MB

It is a HARD USB 3.0 drive. No doubt the HARD drive is not recognized correctly in windows exploerer due to the low power.
The USB 2.0 port common feeds only 500mA. The USB 3.0 device must be able to 900mA.
Therefore, it would be advisable to connect this 2 ports USB 2.0 HARD drive with a USB Y cable

  • Hard drive does not start after the use of the recovery on USB Manager

The hard drive on HP G62t - 350 CTO Notebook to my newphew failed. I could create a USB recovery in the Recovery Manager. I installed a new 120 GB SSD. The original hard drive was bigger, do not remember now but 250 or 500 GB. I know that the recover the system after the hard is replaced (Windows 7) said "to avoid problems, install a hard drive as big or bigger than the replaced hard disk", but that's a question for later.

Computer started fine of USB (in fact, is set to boot from USB if present by default). Recovery Manager starts. I choose minimum installation. He goes through the process of partitioning the SSD and copying files. Said so to remove the external media and restart, the computer will restart several times during the process, blah, blah, blah. I get out of USB and restarted, but after POST I get "no bootable media present.

If I try to reboot, leaving the USB in, it starts in USB and that we are at the beginning. I am able to confirm with a rescue disk, the SSD has an NTFS partition that had Windows files copied to it and a large amount of unallocated space. (Something like 60% / 40%).

    So:

    1. How make bootable hard drive for, and if it was bootable, recovery processes complete?
    2. What is happening with the partitions? He creates the partition recovery first, and then after the start, the recovery partition installs the operating system? If so, I might have to give up this process because since I'm moving to smaller storage, I don't want to devote half of the drive to a recovery partition.
    3. Official recovery media help? A technician told me that he would do so, but couldn't explain to my satisfaction why the USB I created with Recovery Manager does not work, so I'm suspicious of the assertion that the media created by HP as opposed to media created by me using the own HP software would be better, and since the computer is under warranty I don't want to spend $30 + to find out.

Most of the people who have installed an SSD that was smaller than the reader of the factory were unable to use any medium recovery HP with the SSD.

As an alternative, if you can still read the 25 characters on the COA affixed Microsoft Windows product key at the bottom of the computer, you can install Windows 7 family, by using this key. Please see "how to install Windows 7 without the disc" to get instructions on how to download Windows 7, create the installation media and install Windows 7 using the product key 25 character of the COA Microsoft on your computer. Please note that this facility is not all customizations of HP or HP value-added that was original installed on your computer. Also note that you will need to download and install most of the pilots of the HP G62t - 350 CTO Notebook PC Drivers page.

  • New hard drive does not appear in the disk utility

I am installing a new hard drive in my late 2011 13 "MacBook Pro. I started using apple's online retrieval system and went to disk utility. I tried to format the drive, but he is stuck saying "remove disc" for about a half hour, and then I had a rotation beach ball and could not move the cursor. I restarted the computer and now the drive does not appear in the disk utility. Any help is appreciated as I have no idea where to go from here.

    Thank you.

You will may be turned off and check that your hard drive is correctly positioned with all the screws tight.

  • Problem with installing Windows on a hard drive, HARD drive does not get detected after installation

Original title: help with hard drive of the computer.

    Flow of the problem:

My aunt tried to install windows 7 on the previous copy of windows 8. Needless to say that it doesn't work and it has messed up the hard drive. So, I bought a vacuum. I formatted the hard drive using my other windows computer to have 2 partitions: a boot partition and system partition, and then used the program WinToUSB to install windows on the hard disk. The reason I did it is, because no matter how many times I changed the BIOS in my laptop of aunts, it wouldn't boot from the DVD player to load the windows software. After a few hours, I found WinToUSB. Once windows has been installed, I plugged it into the laptop. For a few hours, I didn't know what to do, because the computer does not recognize the hard drive (he said: "Not detected"). I decided to start from legacy, and then the screen deals

    «intell...» »

and a bunch of dates, etc all the stuff on the screen to load legacy if you know what I mean.

He said "not plugged in the media. Check the power cord.

Then quickly changed screen before I can read almost anything and it goes to the normal windows screen black (with 4 colors). I said to myself, how can he be loading if the hard drive is not detected... Once it is loaded, he brought me to the blue screen (blue screen of death, if you want) I turned the computer on again, always noticing the hard drive was not detected. I ran all the recovery/repair options I could and turned off the laptop. I came back a few hours ago and I loaded the computer again and went into the BIOS.  He said that the hard drive has been detected and said the news about this, as usual. However, at the start of the legacy of windows loading screen, it said still not detected.  I then started to windows to see since it is now detected if that fixes the blue screen. Yet, there is no. I tried to go to the normal windows and screen remains blue. any ideas?

    Hello Chris,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Community.

According to the description, it seems that Windows was not properly installed on the hard drive. I'm not sure how to work the software from third-party manufacturers WinToUSB and reliable installation process is. Microsoft does not recommend using any third party tool to install Windows on your computer, the use of these third-party tools can cause serious damage to your computer.

I would say to format the hard drive once more and try to install Windows through normal Windows installation process.

Refer to the section "using the installation option custom if no operating system is installed" in the thread below.

    Installing and reinstalling Windows

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/installing-reinstalling-Windows#1TC=Windows-7

If you are not able to install Windows on the hard drive at all, I suggest you to contact the hard drive manufacturer to obtain a diagnosis of material performed on the hard drive.

Do not hesitate to write back for any further assistance with Windows, we will be happy to help you.

  • External hard drive does not work properly

    Hi all

It is a slightly different external HARD drive problem.  I had my faithful media ATMT bin since my first laptop with XP (2003) and I bought it in 2005.  It's a little wobbly as the fan vibrates a lot, but this isn't a problem.  What is the problem, is that I have a windows machine 7 who thinks that drive a need to put in shape, but my previous laptop which has vista on it was absolutely no problem to read the files IN ALL and you can open one of them without a hitch.  I tried to run CHKDSK I:\I (it is labeled as the I drive :) and 7 claims that it is in the format RAW.  I had a look at CHKDSK on my old machine and it is in FAT32, I since changed it to NTFS, but seems to have no effect.  I also tried the hunting of the drivers for the external hard drive, but I come only through links to Amazon as these things are always available.

I really need to access this drive on my current computer as the older one needs a considerable cooling method to make it work therefore the latest machine.  What I also don't understand, it's that it was working absolutely fine on this machine too until quite recently.  He worked on it that I need, but have not been accessed for a while and so solutions in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much for your time.

    RM

Your drive has reached its copy by date and it works on time taken (if he is stil)

If this does not work on another PC then it's probably dead.

You can try the utility disk SeaTools from Seagate to check and see if it can detect and report on the drive

  • Canvio Plus 2.5 "1 TB external HARD drive does not work with USB 3.0

I've had this drive for about a month.

    I am on Windows 7

I can only operate by connecting to USB 2.0 ports. It is then visible in 'My Computer'.

If I connect to USB 3.0, it turns on the case but does not appear in 'My Computer'.

I tried it on all my USB ports 3.0 - up on one and two in the back of my case.

I checked my BIOS and USB 3.0 is enabled.

I tried to follow the suggestions in the user manual, but the drive does not appear in the management of so connected devices on USB 3.0, but it does when connected in USB 2.0.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

As much as I know the Windows 7 system requires installation of additional USB 3.0 driver.

Many laptops and computers use USB 3.0 driver that was released by Intel... it is because of Intel chipset...

I guess that USB 3.0 is already installed, but probably you need to update the driver at least to the newest version...

  • Hard drives does not after created vm web client

I'm under esxi 5.5 with the web client vsphere. When creating a virtual machine through the customer web of hard drives are not appear. I go through the process and click Finish and everything will check fine no errors, but when I go to edit the virtual machine without hard drives are showing. Now, if I create the virtual machine via the vsphere client it all works. I tried in the client web creation v10 and below the virtual machine and still the same result.

Just solved the problem. I went ahead and reset services and it works now. The weird part is that the hard drives or specific devices have not been created and there where no errors at all. I guess that the constant permutation between vsphere and web client cause something in the background

  • Replacement HARD drive does not not in 27-inch imac 2012

Hello apologies if this question has been asked and answered before.

I've owned a Mac for many years, I'm comfortable shooting them to make any necessary repairs. My most recent Mac a 2012 13.2 27-inch iMac was a fusion player was not part of the HARD drive, the merger fell apart after the reconstruction of the merger and restore the system, the HARD drive failed this time, I could hear the sticktion in the drive so that was it. I had to put a replacement isn't a problem (so I thought) I did some research and bought a Seagate 3 to 7200 NAS drive to begin with, I thought I leave my machine on ground why not a NAS drive for the operating system.

I had then the car adapter OWC with heat sensor, after getting the iMac apart that I replaced the drive, something I've done before on other Mac waiting for the machine to start with no OS instead, all show the iMac is the SSD it recognizes not the replacement drive at all no prompted me to format the new drive.

I spent some time trying to figure out the problem to reset PRAM, put mode target to see if the disc looks for another mac, no luck in the terminal, the 'diskutil list' only would show only the SSD.

I opened the iMac this time put in a Seagate HDD 7200 3TO standard before putting back together I ran the iMac with attached to another screen. It doesn't seem to matter what I put in the iMac in the car it does not recognize them, I was putting in old spare parts to see if it was a problem with the current firmware. I started thinking to the question could have been the SATA cable until I plugged the original drive in. Immediately the old disk could be seen and mounted perfectly in a last effort I got a model the same SSHD Seagate I checked is intended to be supported with this type of iMac still nothing ditch.

I am at my wits end with this issue, it is as if the original is savvy to the system some how I read that 2009 iMacs had problem s similar I don't understand other iMac of the same model that the mine had the problem of fan speed and any player could be used. It aims to be a kind of firmware I am destined to load in the new drive.

My options are very limited and for once I feel lost and let down by apple if it is worth $800 and $1000 to get the same 1 TB per apple apple player or as RESTful seems much this repair is already in me for $1200 (I have cracked the screen of origin)

If any advice is much appreciated. My idea lasts is put back together and just start the operating system on an external drive to USB 3. The current SSD is too small for my image of time machine only 128 GB to restore to.

    Concerning

    digi79

    A few thoughts here.

Is it possible that the OWC adapter is faulty or well you don't connect it correctly? http://youtu.be/iWyJxnBM-Qu Unless I read wrong looks like the original drive is recognized and original SATA cable, but when you add the adapter into the mix, it does not work?

Have you tried partitioning and firmatting the disk before you install it? Sometimes, who will do the trick.

  • Adapter Ultrabay - HARD drive does not appear

I just bought a new adapter for my T400 Thinkpad ultrabay. I put a brand new Toshiba 320 HDD and place in the laptop. The HARD drive is another laptop but is still new, I bought my companion who has installed a newly purchased SSD in his cell.

in any case, when I placed the ultrabay adapter in the notebook with the new HARD drive, I received a message that Windows 7 was install drivers for the new Toshiba drive, the standard procedure. But I don't see anything in my computer.

HARD drive appears in Device Manager but not in my computer. See the screenshot.

I tried to follow these instructions with no luck. I also tried to update the BIOS with no luck.

The light on the adapter does not-maybe it is somehow off?

    Help, please...

Too bad. I solved the problem. I used Partition Wizard Home Edition to see the drive and create a new NTFS partition on the HARD drive and a drive letter assigned.

Thought I'd post the solution here if someone would know a similar problem.
