SSD intel SRT speed up lack of button (caching)

Hello comrades alienware owners, I'm a newcomer in this club and been out of the loop of things tech for about 4 years I lived under a rock. I recently did some intensive research because I bought my new computer laptop m17x of R4. so here is the installer, Windows 7 pro sp1 i7 3740QM 1 TB 5400 RPM HARD drive 32 GB SSD HD 7970 m 32 GB of ram my goal was of course to the caching to improve performance. so, from the start of factory setting, the interface of sorts shows the acceleration tab, I clicked in but click on Cancel again to jump off to make sure I have the right to all components, I then immediately restart and checked my bios, which she read in the RAID, after connection and my TRIE, the acceleration tab when missing opening. I did a few things here on: I've updated to the latest driver, after I uninstalled the previous ones. I've switched back to AHCI then reboot, then reboot again to change to RAID, then reboot again without success. It does not display. off desperate measure, I checked there is no any partition on the SSD drive to reformat the SSD drive. Then I restore the system to its factory condition. former driver has been installed, the bios is in RAID mode, but the acceleration tab does not always show. I've now updated my BIOS with the latest version of A11 too which doesn't always help. Could someone help me on this?

  • XPS15 (L521x). 840evo SSD running at speed SATA2, does NOT speed SATA3.

I bought a L521x was fitted with a 512 MB SSD, which was a 830 SSD from Samsung manufactured for Dell as equipment of OEM for which software Wizard did not work (IE I never checked before HD speed).

Recently, I upgraded the original SSD with the Samsung SSD 1 TB 840evo and I started to manage the new SSD with magician. Now the bad news discovered is that, although I was expecting a performance gain:

    (1) the Windows index on the HD has not changed: always 7.7;

    (2) Wizard reports the speed SATA2 instead of the expected to the SATA channel SATA3.

I know that the intel HM77 chipset supports the SATA3 specification.

The OS is Windows 7 Ultimate x 64. The boot is via the BIOS (not UEFI). The partition table is the MBR (not GPT). The system is updated with the latest version of the BIOS and latest drivers. Of course replace the HD, I used the original connectors provided by Dell with Notepad.

What wrong with my setup? In other words: why the SSD running at speed instead of SATA3 SATA2?

    Thanks in advance.

I found information that A16 has developed because there are poblems to the disks that were connected through SATA3 and this is the reason why they wer strangled to SATA2.

I asked my supervisor... no new version comes out. You can stay with the A14.

A15 should be fine or any lower version should be fine. Download it from the Dell site. The software allows a drop in ratings.

  • How to make the SSD intel for the express purpose of starting applications on Vista

    Hello

start the passage of the hhd to ssd?

You have a problem. I installed an ssd intel in the express purpose of starting applications and vista X 64. I tried the drive cloning, but wouldn't start. I tried a new install and it was going to move files into that, won't boot from either by car, but win wonder what version of the win even he wants me to start from and restarts any computer to the same query form. The SSD is disabled in the bios to get the boot. Had to disable the RAID to use trim to ssd so function.

What I want to do: start just from the ssd. The only things I want written on this disc are applications or the os updates/fixes. Want to earn for knows to go for hard drives for data, and make all other write here.

Is this possible... or what I am doing wrong? BTW due to config sata raid or ide Diane to get started.

    w/thanks... Duke

    Hi ssdprob,

I suggest you to install the SSD as a stand-alone drive and do a clean format installation.

When installing, do not select the SSD. After completing the installation adds the old hard drive in the system.

Note: If you have Sata or Raid enabled, so make sure you have the drivers available for the same thing. During the installation, you may need to install the drivers, otherwise choose IDE to proceed to the installation.

IMPORTANT: before attempting an installation format for Windows Vista on the SSD, make sure you also have a good backup of all the information stored on your computer, because this process completely removes the previous installation and the data stored on the system.

    Hope this information is useful.

I have a couple of this desire m4 I7 product: C2M81UA #ABA who have 1 TB blue WD scorpio Win 8 Preinstaled.

It is up to date with the latest form of HP, Intel and Microsoft updates. Including fast storage to intel.

Recovery operating system, applications and drivers DVD set has been created using HP recovery utility.

After that, HD has been replaced with SSD Intel 520 Series 180 GB.

    Issue.

SSD is not start after the installation of the OS was made using the HP installation DVD set.

    Remarks:

The SSD is recognized, while holding, partitioned and Windows is correctly installed
However it does not start it freezes after Hp logo without message when Win 8 should begin.
Changing legacy BIOS boot and secureboot options results in error message appear "3F0 there is no boot device."
even if a new fresh installation by using any combination of these options, the SSD is recognized and the tests went ok in the bios utility.

Linking the SSD as external USB installation interrupted Windows can be seen.
He tried with an another SSD, which is the same model with the same results.

Does anyone has an idea how to solve this problem?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

He finally works!, what I just did in the last hours is to reinstall from the recovery HP DVD media. But first I set old bios to activate OS, Secureboot to disable.

Then it was installed, it worked well this time.

When I did disabled legacy BIOS os and active secureboot.

It runs as it wants!, it takes only 5 seconds to turn screen tile (I use fingerprint to log).

Thank you all for your support!

  • Clarity on a Dell XPS 8700 with 2 TB SATA + Intel® SRT 32 GB SSD Cache harddrive

    Hello

I am buying a Dell XPS 8700 with a SATA hard drive with a 32 GB SSD cache. I want to know if the SSD is a separate physical disk SATA hard disk, it will be the M.SATA chip on the motherboard.

Please it is confirmed; I can by adding a larger 256 GB internal SSD, with the o/s re installed on the SSD with HDD as storage of 2 TB.

    Best regards & Thanks Sean

    Hi Sean,.

Yes, it's an mSATA SSD and scalable. You have the option to install the OS on a bigger mSATA SSD if you choose to do.

  • SSD Intel DC P3700 NVMe and performance in ESXi 5.5.

    Hello

    I have 2 HP Proliant DL380 G9 with a 2 TB Intel P3700 NVMe SSD PCI - e card each.

To put a virtual machine on these cards, I don't get the performance I expected.

My basis for this is a Workstation Windows 8.1 with a 800 P3700 Go card for OS/workspace based on a Supermicro X10DAI motherboard.

When I benchmark P3700 of this workstation, I get results and performance as expected.

During the calibration of a virtual machine on a data P3700 store, I get waaay lower results, especially for workloads sequential.

Change controller of paravirtualised, results changes a little, mainly best write performance, but the results are always a way weak.

I use the following driver for P3700, downloaded from the vmware.com website:

    Is - 1.0e.0.30 - 1vmw.550.0.0.1391871.x86_64.vib

Screenshots of P3700 on Windows desktop / VMWare workstation VM / ESXI 5.5:

    esxi NVMe issue.png

    Paravirtualised:

    vmWARE_paravirtual_independent_atto.PNG

    Any ideas?

Now we are talking about, the drivers are definitely the big question here.

    Pre-release of Intel driver: intel-nvme - 1.0e.0.0 - 1OEM.550.0.0.1391871.x86_64.vib, did the trick.

The results are always a little strange when it comes to performance and results in read/write / values are not yet 100% where I want them, but ATTO finally shows sequentially results above the limit of 600/800 MB I saw with vmwares pilot.

Storage of the weak watch anvil utilities score both on driver LSI_SCSI and paravirtualised. I'm not shure why, but outcomes are improved in a way.

I guess than the version driver gold, and maybe a combination with ESXi 6 improve it more.

    I consider a little more.

  • Lack of buttons on the top window right in Thunderbird

My problem has already been discussed here:

    https://support.Mozilla.org/da/questions/987606

This thread has been archived, so I can't comment on that. I have the same problem as described here: every now and then, the three buttons on the right top of the page in the main Thunderbird window stop working. In fact, they are not yet drawn more. I suspect that this may be related to (UN) hibernation the machine because the problem started occurring at the same time I started using Hibernate in Windows 7. Alternatively the bug was reintroduced in a Thunderbird update occurring between one and two months.

No other program of your use XUL as a window definition language is is my guess. You are using a non-standard theme? This happens in the VNC or only after the event?

  • Windows 7 - Start Menu power supply lack of button 'stop', 'sleep '.

    Hi all

My power button on Start Menu is missing the 'Close' and 'Sleep' options.   Everything is displayed is 'Locked', 'Disconnect' and 'Switch user' (in gray).  I searched Internet solutions and tried * everything * recommended that in return, including:

-right click on the power button and by changing properties

-modification of the options in the application of power of Control Panel

-change the registry setting to Start Menu

-using the Group Editor to change the option to Start Menu power button

-checked all of my system files to be ok

I've been smart to do these things and always return the default settings later.

    Other observations:

-the power button on the main Windows login screen * fact * have these options

-When you use the Control Panel power approx., I even not give me the option to change the Start Menu power button

    I use Windows 7, 64 bit, professional on a Phenom II X 4 4 GB system.

Help!  I'm a poster for the first time and I'm completely stumped.

    Thank you

    Minnesota Bob

I solved the problem.  It turns out that there are two 2 group policy changes that had to be modernized.  Here's what to do (some steps copied from Microsoft article)

    Click Start, run.
Type gpedit.msc , and then click OK.
    Navigate to the following location:

Taskbar and User Configuration Administration\menu located

Double click on "Remove and prevent access to the close command.
    Select 'off '.

Double-click on "Start change power button Menu"

    Select "enabled."

    Choose "Shutdown".

If you don't want to go through these steps, create a new user account will work as well.  Of course, then transfer all your settings of the old user account.

  • Lack of button "clean up system files".

I tried to run Disk Cleanup and clear up some space winsxs takes too much space, but I noticed that the button "Clean up system files" is missing. I use Windows 7 Ultimate

A new feature has been added to cleaning disc in October 2013, which is not available in cCleaner. You must change the existing settings to take advantage of the new feature. Type Disk Cleanup in the search above the Start button box and press ENTER. Click OK and after the calculation of space, you will see a window with a list of files to delete. Use the right-hand scroll bar to see the entries hidden further down the list. Check the boxes in front of the backup of the Service Pack files and cleaning Windows Update and click OK if you don't see cleaning of Windows Update then click clean up system files . You can see savings every time after Windows has been updated, but they are not as important when it is run after the first time. You must restart the computer to complete the process.

Is this a real session of stereo in the first place? And even if it is to have placed your stereo audio in a mono track by chance?
