standby of the comments file system create two snapshot files

Why would or should suspend the comments file system create two snapshot files.

In our environment, we have the following VMDK.

Syntest.VMDK

Syntest_1.VMDK

Syntest_2.VMDK

Syntest_3.VMDK

Syntest_4.VMDK

When I create a snapshot that suspends the comments file system it creates two syntest_1 - 000001.vmdk and syntest_1.000002.vmdk (as well as all of the files for snapshots).  Here is a screenshot.

syntest.png

Why and is at - it something wrong?   I can find a ton of articles on stereotypes, but nothing that speaks.

We are currently on ESXi 5.1.0,1157734.

Thank you

Mike

Out of curiosity. Are two snapshots created even when you create the snapshot manually?

With backup applications, this behavior is not uncommon. The first snapshot is created for the virtual machine write them changed data, while the current is/instant backup, and the second snapshot is created by the backup software to attach the virtual disk basic to the host/proxy backup as "independent - not persistent. Once the virtual disk is disconnected from the proxy the second snapshot will be discarded and then the first snapshot will be validated for the basic disk.

CBT information should not be reset somehow, but updated as changed during the backup data.

  • If you have ESXi installed on a USB drive.  Where are the comments operating system installed?

    I'm totally new to ESXi.  I googled this answer apparently simple like crazy, but couldn't find a solid answer.  If you install ESXi on a USB key or USB hard drive, where the guest os get installed?  On the same USB device because the ESXi OS is installed?

    I have a 40 GB usb hard drive, I want to install it.  I don't want to touch none of the disks in my PC at all, but rather run straight from the USB key (similar to the live linux race).  It will work all fine without any problem? I use it only for the purposes of learning, nothing major at this point.

    Welcome to the community,

    Unfortunately, this won't work. Virtual machines (i.e. the VMFS file system) are only supported on storage 'fast', i.e. the SSD/HDD or shared storage LUNs. You cannot create a data store VMFS on a USB device.

  • VMware server wiped the host during the generation of the comments operating system

    Gidday,

    System:

    HP dc7800p sff

    Slackware64-13

    Kernel: 2.6.31.4

    VMware serve 2.01 - build 156745

    I tried to build a guest of windows on the network via a console on vmware server

    We use a tftp boot server and use ximage to copy the image on the machine.

    Everything seemed to go well when my screen was filled with random colors.

    Restarts it tried to boot into windows, it is thoroughly confusing, because it's a dedicated linux machine.

    After starting on a rescue cd, it seems that my old layout (4 sheets), it is now 1 NTFS partition and this partition is filled with a windows file structure and the corresponding files.

    I am always tring to understand how a virtual machine that is supposed to write to a file has managed to clear the contents of my hard drive.

    Someone at - he had similar experiences or ideas on how this could happen?

    See you soon!

    Dave

    Well Yes, there is a SCSI device to passthru in there as well according to what/dev/sg0 described on the host that the client tried to do with this device, which may well explain the host getting wiped.

    Safer to come just the hard and then create a new VM on the Server 2.x using this hard even though it must be said that I have never suffered this deliver me or heard someone else either.

  • How can I configure the profile when I create two instance on Linux?

    Hello

    When I install two instance on Linux, I always export ORACLE_SID with manually among SIDS. Any possibility is there an easy way to change bodies?

    Thanks and greetings

    You can defined as aliases

    Sid1 ='source /.sid1'
    SID2 ='source /.sid2'

    in .sid1 of .sid2 files, you can set everything you need NLS_LANG, ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_SID...

    Then simply type SID1 in your command line to define all variables.

    Prob: Now when I create a tablespace to Davis (test instance) same thing happens again immediately in test2 (DBDG1) but when I create tablespace in diskgroup HISTDG of the test instance in the same is not get copied to HISTDG1 test2 pending . Even is immediately reproduce at DBDG1(test2 instance) but not HISTDG1 diskgroup

    Hello
    Set DB_FILE_CREATE_DEST = "
    as it can be null and is not really necessary
    I then use db_file_name_convert setting as you had originally.
    I hope this will solve your problem

    for example
    Set DB_FILE_NAME_CONVERT = '+ DELAFLOR', '+ DBDG1', '+ HISTDG', '+ HISTDG1 '.
    and
    whole set DB_FILE_CREATE_DEST = "
    or if you use a file pfile deletes the line with DB_FILE_CREATE_DEST

  • Is it possible to use the same file twice, but have different layers power when I use it?

    map.jpg

    I have this card and I want to have a zoom in the part that displays the residential street names, but of course I don't want the names of streets on the large version of the map. Without creating two different files can I activate these layers to the map zoomed in the corner and keep them to the enlarged map? Or is there a different way I should go about it?

    The reasoning to want a single file is because the streets and points of interest are evolving, it would be frustrating to manually change the street name of each file, as time passes and things could eventually be forgotten. Have a main file would eliminate errors or inconsistencies between two files.

    Card has been designed using InDesign in Illustrator and has.

    in indesign, make a right click on the image linked and select 'object layer Options.

  • Can create manual snapshot, but VDR can't create a suspended snapshot

    If I go into the Snapshot Manager, I can create a snapshot (System Quiesce invited selected file) all day, but VDR keeps giving me the cannot create a snapshot hanging on the same server error.  I went through all the stuff for this KB.  Is there something different in the way that VDR creates a snapshot from do it manually to the virtual machine?

    If you disable the memory status and check the comments of quiesce file system option during an attempt of instant manual then it will mimic the operation of snapshot which initiates the VDR.  If, as you have indicated that always work a manual snapshot, but not in the VDR initiates, try the following:

    (1) the operation of manual snapshot as described above.

    (2) if the instant manual successfully, then immediately open the plugin VDR and trigger a manual backup of the virtual machine.  If the backup fails with instant failure, get the logs of the VDR (KB 1012282) device and open a SR

    (3) if the manual backup is successful, then it might be a matter of resource conflict when the backup window is opened as part of the operation of backup... maybe the ESX newspapers may provide a clue.

  • Problems capturing pictures about OS6 - East System.getProperty ("video.snapshot.encodings"); valid?

    Hello

    I hope someone can help with this query.

    I use the code that is very similar to the sample application camerademo to take a photo using the camera. It works properly on devices running OS5. However, on devices running OS6 photo is just an image of white/black.

    I think I followed the problem until the encoding string passed to getSnapshot(). When I switch which must be a valid encoding string (based on the output of System.getProperty ("video.snapshot.encodings")) the captured image is a black screen. However, when I pass null to getSnapshot() it works correctly. I want to avoid using null as the captured image is much more that I need and for reasons of effectiveness, I would like to avoid having to reduce its size after the capture of the photo.

    I tested this on the 9780 Simulator. The corresponding code is included below for reference.

    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for getting back to me.

    It turns out that it was only a problem on the Simulator. I managed to get my hands on a real device 9780 and the code works fine on it.

  • Alert for comments file system disk space (without turning on all of the alerts capability)

    Hello

    Is anyone know how you can activate alerts for comments (i.e. individual symptoms) file system free space without activating capacity alerts? Alerts from the ability to create a lot of noise. VRealize operations 6.1

    Thank you

    John

    Go to the content--> Notifications and create a new notification.  Set the type of object to the Virtual Machine and the Notfication trigger in the alert definition, then tap the alert that you want to be notified on.  You can select any or all levels of criticality, and possibly under Advanced, you can choose any or all States of alert and statutes.

    Hello;

    That's what I'd do:

    Primary backup (change in your directory as needed)

    RMAN RUN {
    allocate channel d1 type disk;
    backup format '/u01/backups/PRIMARY/df_t%t_s%s_p%p' database;
    sql 'alter system archive log current';
    backup format '/u01/backups/PRIMARY/al_t%t_s%s_p%p' archivelog all;
    backup current controlfile for standby format '/u01/backups/PRIMARY/sb_t%t_s%s_p%p';
    release channel d1;
    }

    Move the backup and duplicate like this:

    rman target sys/password@PRIMARY auxiliary /

    RMAN> run {
    allocate channel C1 device type disk;
    allocate auxiliary channel C2 device type disk;
    duplicate target database for standby nofilenamecheck;
    }

  • I got a message saying cannot find the tfswctrl file and wants me to buy what is called system tool and I can't get rid of or install the two updates of Microsoft KB2479943 and KB2481109.

    That is to say the computer has an infection and turn on my protection against viruses (which is on) and buy their protection against the virus.  Cannot run two updates from Microsoft and can not access all programs except the internet but don't let me download anything.  Missing file is: tfswctrl

    Whatever you do... do not buy this software.

    Good luck

  • The system creates thousands of useless with names like temporary files ~ WRL2755.tmp, but they never disappear. How can I remove all at the same time?

    I am running XP Professional 2002 SP3. It all started about six months ago I suspect with one of these updates. These files are located in the files with the associated files. There are actually hundreds of thousands of them. They have tripled the number of files on my computer. I want to know how to get rid of them and stop the system from their creation.

    Hello Redoced,

    I found an article from knowledge explaining that ~ WRL .tmp files are created by Word, further than the WRL type .tmp files are created by Clipboard actions.

    Hi Steve Whipple.

    This link (Acrobat Help |) Import and export comments ) seems relevant to your query. Please let me know if it allows you to export xfdf file comments.
