Start PC laptop Toshiba in safe mode, only displays black screen, will not respond to any commands.

Hello, I recently tried to do an advanced start safemode, because when I tried to do safe mode by pressing F8 it would have not responded to the command. Then I did a MSconfig, lit manually in safe mode, so I can then restart and do a scan to search for viruses or hackers of air because he had a reason to suspect. Now, after the manual switch, when I rebooted all I get is a black screen. No logo, nothing. When I press the buttons for the controls at first upward, it beeps at me and that's it.

Done, I have XP, not Vista, don't know if it makes much difference or not, but that's exactly what I did.

Is went to start, click Run, type msconfig, went to the utility system configuration, general tab selected, then the system of services. Then selected drivers devices of loading at startup Safemode-minimal database, and then click OK. Then, the computer said I had to be logged as administrator for these changes to take place and to connect and make changes. I was already logged as admin. so I advanced and restarted the computer and that's when I got black screen, no splash screen, no logo, no cursor.

I just read that I could have possibly messed up by not checking the VGA mode in order to be able to communicate in this mode, I don't know if it is correct or not.

I have my recovery discs, I've tried this morning, following their directions and it will not respond to one of these orders either.

I don't understand, why... it was working fine before I did it, but like I said I suspected a virus or a hijacker, but my Norton 360 and SuperSpyware nothing not detected in normal mode. That's why I tried to safe mode.

  • Pavilion dv6 - 3227cl laptop entertainment puts but has only a black screen

HP Pavilion DV6 - 3227cl Entertainment Notebook, which is about 2 years old and works on Windows 7 Home Premium, AMD Vision Premium, will to power, but not start.  The fan works and the "caps lock" flashes once approximately every 4 seconds, but all I get is a black screen with no error message or the cursor.  There are no beeps.  The power led lights (white) for about a second, then turns to a dim orange when the battery is installed, but remains white when the battery is removed.  However, the two lights (I'm not sure what they are for) next to the nearest port USB power light lights up as follows: one on the left (as you are looking at the right side of the laptop) is white; the right one is orange.  Both are fully illuminated, (not vaguely that the power light).  The power light is not as bright as the other indicator white located near the USB port.  The laptop started and seemed to be running once since this problem started, but I was not able to start again.  I'm told the battery is bad (it's my brother in law book), but it is possible that the problem is with the power source rather than the processor or motherboard?  I appreciate your comments/advice about this.  Thank you.

    Hi fejevitzky,

Your question, "according to that, I think you're telling me you don't think it's the BIOS - is that correct?" Yes, as long as you don't see any "white" light reveals LCD bezel back while with the State of the white screen. Bezel LCD's coverage around LCD, most design put modeule LED in the lower corner next to the LCD. While the backlight is not during the boot sequence, which means system doesn't have chance to get BIOS current enforcement program. It also means, he stuck to the condition of the equipment to set up. Normally this motherboard related.

  • Satellite P305-S8820 won't start no-POST 'BLACK SCREEN' will not start up CD

When the HARD drive is connected Vista does not start, regardless of the boot order. Instead, it shows just a black screen with no cursor. Supplied recovery disks will not start. I removed the HARD drive and ran a scan of the disc to see if the drive went wrong, no dice, the disc is good and works fine via usb-sata on another computer.

I inserted just the toshiba recovery disk, without HARD drive, and it starts. I connected the external HARD drive now and vista tries to start BSOD, I tried safe mode, last known, everything, nothing works, all get a BSOD disappearing too fast for me to read.

I searched a dump file on my other computer and was a failure. When the HARD drive is connected via usb vista tries to start and the toshiba cd works now, however, it will not perform a complete installation of factory toshiba it does not find the HARD drive? I'm a windows user and I have years of experience with x 86 programming and windows 32-bit operating systems, but I'm stumped. Bad RAM? Bad Sata? Bad HARD drive? Bad CD/DVD? It is Vista Home premium.

I don't want to reformat and lose all my data "I AM A REAL 'IT' not a silly computer user" no offense to all the others out there but I refuse just "format and forget ' tools used invites to rebuild the BCD and this does not work either and automatic repair does nothing, recovery does not work as it says there is no recovery points I am frustrated beyond words.

Finally, this operating system is just horrible, I was once the 'happy' owner of a copy of Windows ME and it does not give me half of the problems that makes this operating system.

I'm fed up with this, and am half tempted to ask my money for my computer, it might not be the responsibility of the user barely shoot / resolve these problems, they should be addressed before the product was released.

I am at a loss. Help, please.

    Thank you

    Kevin

I'm a bit confused with the info given, but if you can not restore/repair Windows, while you should do is back up your data to another PC using a USB adapter, and then run the recovery on the HARD drive internal in the P305.

You must also update the BIOS.

  • P400 only black screen will not start.

My Lenovo was plugged to an outlet controlled by a switch which, during the night, someone off my battery to die.

So the next morning I turned on after letting it load and only the keyboard illuminated by a screen empty.

The fan on for a brief moment and stopped.

The only answer I get from the laptop is a beep when I unplug or plug in the AC adapter.

I removed the battery, which held the power, trendy french adapter started and got the same result. Even after connecting the battery back in.

I also tried to connect another monitor, but the result is the same and the monitor only records that the computer is turned on.

How can I get my computer on without having to send to a lenovo repair center?

After a clean install of windows xp family, with nothing but Pctools virus installed and disabled, Xp will only start in safe mode, all 3 choices, it does not start in Msconfig service diagnosis either. Eventvwr said service control module has failed. I tried to uncheck that service figure, but he said that the computer will not start if it is disabled. I uninstalled 3 times and reinstalled with the same results. A last one being a service pk 3 that I downloaded and installed in safe mode.

It has been installed and working before the clean install of windows with pk3. I removed the patration from the hard drive, write 000 to the dick and reformatted before clean install of xp. It will work with service pk 2 is installed.

You must install SP3 before you install your antivirus program. This can be done safely by downloading the file in advance and install while physically disconnected from the Internet. In addition, you should keep IE at the level before installing SP3 IE6.

  • Unable to start my laptop Toshiba

Basically, later yesterday my computer froze so I decided to plant it. I turned the computer back on but I can't actually back into the computer that I start, then a black page appears telling me that the computer could not initialize correctly.

I am presented with several options. I can't get into Safe Mode or start Windows normally.
However, Safe Mode does not work, I have a page with errors in all directions.

When I try to start Windows normally Windows XP logo appears and everything seems normal, until a blue screen appears quickly and then goes almost immediately, then Im back to the original page that explains that the computer failed to boot normally.

I need serious help. I'm only 17, and not a computer expert!

Why you n t take a Toshiba recovery disc and reinstall the OS again?
But the recovery procedure would format the whole HARD drive and you will lose the files stored on the HARD drive.

But according to your message did not help to boot into windows XP
To my eyes there so no other solution as a new OS install

  • How can I start/re-start Windows professional XP in safe MODE

How can I start/re-start Windows professional XP in safe MODE? Aid filw I get only instructed on XP Home Edition and the buttons and it tells you to follow the guests do not appear in the professional edition. I need the instructions for Pro.  Can someone help me with this?

    Original title: Safe Mode

You can start either home or Pro in SafeMode by this technique...

Keep F8 hitting twice a second immediately after you have switched on the PC. You should get a boot menu where safe mode is selectable using the up/down arrow keys.

Or, use the msconfig utility. When you do it this way, Windows starts in SafeMode permanently until you reverse the changes in msconfig...

    • Click Start
    • Click on run
    • Type msconfig and press enter
    • Click on the CHEST. INI tab
    • Check the box for/SafeBoot
    • Click OK
    • Restart the PC when prompted

  • Start of diagnosis while in safe mode

I checked before diagnosis start unchecking to boot into safe mode and now my system won't boot.  I am running XP Pro on a Dell GX620. Any advice?

I see...  See how he wants to cheat you?   Maybe you can outsmart it...

    Here's what I'd do:

Create a bootable CD of XP Recovery Console and start on this (instructions below).

    Enter these commands:

CD-(back up/back to the root directory of drive C)
attrib - shr boot.ini (remove the system, hidden, and only the read attributes)
    Boot.ini.bak ren boot.ini (rename the boot.ini afflicted)

Remove the CD and restart your drive HARD and XP will complain about the missing boot.ini, but have yet to start.

In Explorer, navigate to your C:\ folder and rename the file boot.ini.bak boot.ini (this is so msconfig will be able to find it).

Run the msconfig and remove the afflictions like / SafeBoot and save changes, etc.  (you don't have to restart if you do not want).

If you wish, you can change the boot.ini to hand, but not everyone is comfortable to do this.

I don't know if you're free of virus/malware or not but who has bet that you started at least once.

If your EXE files will not start, see if it will help:

Looks like your Windows file associations have to dispose. This means that XP is not
know what to do with the files by looking at the file extension (for example, .exe for executables,
    .doc for MS documents, etc.).

If you don't have it you, something done for you - most likely malware.

Go to this site WWW by Doug Knox:

    http://www.dougknox.com/

On the left, click on the Win XP fixes, file Association fixed and read the instructions at the top of the page.

Download the EXE File Association Fix on your desktop, unzip the file and apply it by following the instructions at the top of the page, then to restart and test.

How to create a bootable CD from the Console of the Recovery XP (no XP media required):

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and don't forget (no support for XP not necessary).

This is not the same as recovery disks that might have come with the acquisition of the system store.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD (do not install UniBlue or the Ask Toolbar - never!):

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:

  • I've updated to Firefox 36 automatically, however, it does not start. I tried firefox safe mode, reinstall, uninstall avg antivirus, eks.

The computer restarts during the night to install updates. Everything was fine, but now Firefox, which has been updated to version 36, will not launch. Basically, I double click on it, I get a little access to the disk and nothing. I tried to start firefox safe mode. Same thing is happening. I uninstalled by deleting any Mozilla Firefox files, programs and relocation. Still will not start. I uninstalled the old version of AVG. Still will not start. I have Microsoft Security Essentials running and have updated. Still will not start. I need new ideas.

I just want to confirm a step that you took. When you say you deleted the program files Firefox content, this may have taken all the Firefox of the components off of your computer.

The steps that you must follow to remove a potentially corrupted installation of firefox are:

Open your Start menu, select "program files." In program files, select "Programs and features", this should open your window "uninstall or change a program". In this window, locate your program "Mozilla Firefox". Select the program with a left click then "Uninstall", which will appear once the program is highlighted.

This process will remove the registry changes that can ask questions. After you completely uninstall firefox from your programs, perform a new installation of the latest version of the browser.

If you have already completed this process without success, so there may be other problems with your windows updates, it's not uncommon. If you have problems after a new installation of Firefox, after following the instructions above, please check if your browser "Internet Explorer" is to have the same questions, if yes, then you may have problems more serious that will require new measures.
