Start/stop the server Oracle On Demand

Hello

I installed Oracle 9i R2 on my laptop (WinXP SP3) for certain events. When the project is completed, I want to keep the Oracle server on the laptop but disable to reduce consumption of resources. When I need Oracle server, I will start/stop it on request.

Is it possible to do that, if yes, can you please tell me the procedure to do?

Thank you very much in advance.

Like Yingkuan said, changing (at least) the database services and the listener to the manual (instead of the default automatic value).

Then create a small batch with the Net Start command to start these services. (and another to stop).

net start "OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListener".
net start "OracleServiceORCL".

net stop "OracleServiceORCL".
net stop "OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListener".

(the name of your database can be more ORCL)

Then, you can double-click to start and stop Oracle as often as you want.

    Segregation starts may travel on these factors

    • 1. the speed of the disks (redologs online had to be faster disk)
    • 2. the redo of multiplexing files
    • 3. the multiplex control files
    • 4. after archivelogs on another disk
    • 5. other than the DATA + and + FRA

    Yes, but 2-4 points can be met with groups of two discs as well - + data the primary file hosting and + FRA accommodation multiplexes copies.

  • Linux-start automatic db at the start of the server. Help, please.

    Hi all

    The database server is Ubuntu linux 9.04 and database is 11.1.0.6. I'm new to Linux. I'm working on automatically start the PB server to start and stop db when plugging the server down.

    I did the following steps by following the instructions in the following doc:

    http://download-UK.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B19306_01/server.102/b15658/strt_stp.htm#BABGDGHF

    (1) logon as root
    (2) to change to/etc/oratab
    3) change directory to /etc/init.d
    (4) create a file called released
    The file looks like (not identical

    #! / bin/sh
    #
    ORA_OWNER = oracle
    ORACLE_HOME = / u01/app/oracle/ora_11g

    case $1 in
    'Start')
    Su - $ORA_OWNER-c "$ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbstart $ORACLE_HOME.
    ;;
    'stop')
    Su - $ORA_OWNER-c "$ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbshut $ORACLE_HOME.
    ;;
    *)
    echo "use: $0 {start |}". stop}.
    output
    ;;
    ESAC
    #
    Output

    (5) change the file released to OSDBA group
    chgrp released dba
    chmod released 570

    (6) create symbolic links to the released script

    # ln s /etc/init.d/dbora /etc/rc.d/rc3.d/K01dbora
    # ln s /etc/init.d/dbora /etc/rc.d/rc3.d/S99dbora

    # ln s /etc/init.d/dbora /etc/rc.d/rc5.d/S99dbora

    I tested by logging in as root and go to the /etc/init.d directory and run the following commands and both work very well.

    . / released early
    . / stop released

    But when I reboot the server that the database is not started automatically. Can someone please help?

    In vmware, if we stop the virtual center server, nothing happens for running virtual machines. Yes, the console is not available and many features are no longer works, but nothing will happen for the virtual machines running on ESX hosts.

    Something similar will happen if you stop the Lab Manager server, or each virtual machine will be cancelled and so on?

    Concerning

    Marius Aulie

    Transit operations will be in an inconsistent state - tell to start you a deployment or a clone and the LM server it comes while watching the busy spinning thingy.  The operation may or may not have actually failed, but it depends if vc has obtained the call full or not before, but the Director of the laboratory, to be restarted, only knows an operation was launched but did not recognition that he finished, will make the assumption that something bad has happened and mark incompatible or failed.

    VM in operation remain in operation.  They may briefly appear to be in an inconsistent state, but it lightens.  You cannot open a session in the laboratory Manager, of course, so no access to consoles, but RDP works very well.  DRS, if you, can decide to move a virtual machine and LM aura it's work that he's trying to find him, but the virtual machine itself will be sane.

    Hello

    Instances of database 1 stop

    2 stop the Services on the node database

    3. stop the node level apps

    4 stop the Listener

    1. If you stop instances of database - community services which if accessed by client customers that it will get the problem (they would say that they are unable to connect to your databases). The Central battery will go into an abnormal state - compared to your normal startup and shutdown procedure (reason for that since your listener are always up and try to provide services (services database).) Maybe they cannot provide the service because the database is out of service. If you need to stop your stack of middle ware initially.

    2. after the middleware stack you must work on the stop of the listeners and services (which is logically the scoop of cluster and data bases - right at the bottom) with other dependencies.

    3. then, you can stop the database followed by the applications node.

    4. Finally cluster ware

  • Connect to the server, Oracle, 11.2.0.1.0, Windows 2008

    There are two Windows 2008 Server: SIGA (database server), SIMBA (application server).

    On GIS, Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 database has been installed. It's tnsnames.ora reads as follows. Execution "TNSPING SIGA" works very well. TNSNAMES is used to resolve the name.

    GIS =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = SARABI.lionsland.local.de)(PORT = 1521))
    )
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = ORCL))
    )

    The SIMBA, Oracle Client 11.2.0.1.0 has been installed. It's the tnsnames.ora is identical to the above. Running "PING SIGA" works very well. The name is resolved to 192.168.1.201. However, execution 'TNSPING SIGA' fails "12535 TNS Timeout". The track is given below. I don't understand where is the problem.

    Hello

    Copy and paste of the ATG Web Commerce Programming Guide:

    Kernel running

    To use the features of Oracle ATG Commerce of Web platform, a web application must start the kernel by calling NucleusServlet. This servlet does not need to be mapped to this path, but should have the load-on-startup flag value of 1 so it runs before any other part of Oracle ATG Web trade. The Web.XML in atg_bootstrap.war includes the following lines:

    NucleusServlet

    atg.nucleus.servlet.NucleusServlet

    1

    The NucleusServlet creates an instance of the kernel and it defines as an attribute of the web application. The core instance can be retrieved using the Nucleus.getGlobalNucleus () method.
