Start window manager: sometimes when I started my PC I have a black screen with the Windows boot manager at the top.
Sometimes when I start my PC I have a black screen with the Windows boot manager at the top. Although there are several options available, that nothing happens no matter what keys I hit and the only option is to shut down the computer and restart completely. Sometimes the Boot Manager page turns and my office sometimes opens fine. I've updated with everything Microsoft has Windows Vista and I still get this screen. Anyone has any ideas.
Do a startup repair and see if that fixes it:
Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
Read all the info on the website on how to create and use:

ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.
You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.

Windows 7 black screen with the cursor on the linen. 3-5 minutes long
I have an Elitebook 8740w HP with Windows 7 which takes longer than 5 minutes to start. It will sit on a black screen with the mouse (which moves), until finally, it loads the login screen. The netsvcs group takes up to 900 MB + of ram and possibly the computer overheating? and turns off immediately. I think it may be issued a driver. This is the last log to start the laptop. The machine works fine in safe mode.
In addition, no major change was to the PC.

I had a very unusual event this morning. I am running Windows 7 on a desktop computer. On startup, I reached the login screen and proceeded to connect to my name. Prior to loading the desktop computer, however, I was in a black screen with the cursor visible.
1. I am able to load successfully under another user ID.
2. I am able to boot in safe mode (with networking) using my own code.
3. I did a system restore with no luck. The problem persists.
4. I don't think it's a driver issue because it would affect the two IDS and who does not.
5. I have a touch screen and the white slider moves even in the place where I touch. (what works)Issues related to the:
1. what "custom" setting would result in a shift of the display of this type?
2. If I go to Windows 8, will I have the opportunity to 'reset' my display options? Or it will automatically upgrade to the wrong setting?
Thank you. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your solution.
The problem turned out to be the result of a combination of events.
1. I did a change of media display a week ago but never restarted.
2 MS did the periodic security update that rebooted the machine overnight.
3. the update may have actually been in the middle of the installation when I got to my machine in the morning.
4. when the screen has not responded, I restarted manually by pressing the power button.Ultimately, I was able to access Task Manager and found several instances of several components running. When I "force stop" several of them, the office completed and I was in business.
I still have the wide black border around my 'Live TV' screen in Windows Media Center, but that's another question for another time.
Once again, thank you for the time spent to help me.
Best regards
Steve

As usual I left my computer and after a few minutes, he fell asleep. Next morning, I had moved to the mouse, computer wakes, but I got a black screen with the mouse pointer. I hit CTRL + Alt + Delete and screen with Task Manager option appeared. I stop computer and rebooted. Welcome screen and logon is displayed. After you enter the password and click on submit that the screen becomes black with only the pointer visible mouse. I don't have not installed anything recently. Can you help me find my office?
OK, I had the same problem. I thought that if you have a pointer and can launch Manager tasks and all programs through its file > new task, then the hull works correctly. No office and no taskbar mean that something is wrong with explorer.exe. Now, he has corrupted not necessarily, may not properly launched.
Here's what I did:
1. I opened the Task Manager, the Details tab
2. I killed all explorer.exe on the list
3. just to be safe, I also tried to kill dwm.exe but it will be may not be necessary (it never goes away)
4. I started the new instance of explorer.exe via file > run
And voila, I had the desktop and the taskbar.
It will be useful.

Windows 7 black screen with the cursor of the mouse in normal mode and safe
Hi all
I hope someone can help.
Laptop downloaded updates and after the restart will only go to a black screen with the mobile mouse cursor.
This occurs in safe mode, normal mode.
I tried all variations of safe mode and still the same thing happens.
Last known configuration does not solve. (i.e. no restoration or image to enter)
Using the vista win7 dvd upgrade or a linux dvd and screen appears as you expect his obvious system is very good.
I tried the options on ctrl alt del, ctrl shift esc etc etc, but I cannot go into Control Panel, or a any part of the win7 GUI.
Best I can do is access via the command-line... any thoughts on how to fix?Hello
Welcome to Microsoft Windows 7 answers Forum!
You can try the following steps and check whether the problem is resolved.
You can disconnect all external devices except the keyboard and mouse and check if you are able to boot to the desktop and check.
I also recommend what to do the Startup Repair. Follow these steps:
To perform a Startup Repair follow these steps:
1. Insert the DVD of Windows 7 and restart the computer.
2. when we are asked to press a key to boot from the DVD, please press enter or the SPACEBAR.
3. choose your language settings, and then click Next.
4. click on repair your computer.
5. Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
6. in the System Recovery Options menu, click Startup Repair. Startup Repair can invite you to make choices as it tries to solve the problem, and if necessary, it may restart your computer, because it makes the repairs.
Access the link below for more information on the Startup Repair:

Windows Vista starts with only a black screen with the mouse pointer.
Saturday, 02/27/10, I left my laptop (Dell Inspiron 1405 E) because I used Studio to produce a couple of videos. When I got up in the morning, he himself had closed. I tried to put on normally, and he said: recovery error windows, then on lists: Launch Startup Repair tool and start windows normally. I tried to do a repair, but it just comes back to the same screen. When I try to boot normally, it shows the progress on the background as usual bar, but then he comes up to a black screen with a mouse pointer. When I run one of the many diagnostic tests, it is said that the BIOS cannot find the operating system loader. I'm pretty adept at computers, but nothing I've tried before reinstalling Vista works. I have files that I need to keep it on the computer, and only a few of them are saved. Please help me soon, as I need for my school musical production on Thursday.
Hello
You can access Mode safe? Repeatedly press F8 as you start? If yes you can try Control Panel
-Double click - Driver tab - click on UPDATE driver - device Manager - map - graph
then right click on the device and UNINSTALL - REBOOT.Another method to try to get to the desktop (try in normal Windows Mode without failure)
is CTRL + ALT + DEL and the processes tab find EXPLORER.exe and END PROCESS on it.
then on the tab Applications - lower right - new task - the type in EXPLORER.exe. Safe mode is
accessible by tapping F8 as you start several times.First check this thread in case it is simple and if not to come back to this thread.

Black screen problems are extremely difficult to repair and all hotfix is usually a hit or miss
base. That there is no information on a black screen as there is just a blue screen
adds to the difficulty. Often using a restore point or Startup Repair will have no effect.
You can try a google to see the proposed repairs, whom some have worked however these
cover a wide field of efforts.Here's a video of one of them.

Windows Vista starts with a black screen with the mouse cursor
Hello
I bought a new Toshiba laptop with OS Windows Vista from Best Buy. At time of purchse that Best Buy does not give me the Vista OS software, they said that the operating system is already installed in the laptop.
Now, after a year, I have problems with the laptop. The Vista starts with a black screen with a mouse cursor. Before writing this issue, I searched some tips to solve the problem as
(1) by pressing F8 while the computer is on and select it the option "last good known Configuration (Advanced) option." but it didn't work.
(2) by pressing F8 when the computer is turned on, then turn on the option 'System repair Option', it did not work.
(3) by pressing F8 when the computer is turned on, and then select the option "" safe mode / Normal mode option "Unfortunately she also did not work."
Could you get it someone please let me know how I can solve this problem.
Thanks in advance
If Safe Mode does not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a startup repair, etc.:
Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.
You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.

Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .
There is no Vista free download legal available.
Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.
Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Also ask them if it is possible to make the recovery disk/s since the Partition of recovery in case of hard drive failure or System Crash, when you're up a new drunning.
They will tell you how to do this.
Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, Acer, recovery disk/s etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
Start-up problems: I have a black screen when I log in the menu
When I start my computer, I get a black screen when I log in the menu. I can still access the computer on safe mode, but I can't find a solution. Antivirus Avira found no detection, so I don't think that's associated virus.
Follow these steps to try to solve your problems of boot.
Restore point:
Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.
Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...
Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.
