Startup folder is empty

Start in the taskbar icon shows the programs have been blocked. I have clk'd - scrn showed the list of programs with check marks of everything except printer auto checker a problem - I have clk was the words, my printer did a few clinks, box appr'd on scrn saying printer OK. I put a ckmark in the area by the prob of the printer on the startup prog list. and click OK. Starting on tskbar box disappeared. I'd start clk, clk would be at the start, the box came to the screen showing computer > programs, I have clk'd on startup. Record came, I have clk it EMPTY. I am not registered with Win Live no email address, when I went to Solutions, signed in and asked me if he had to learn to use it since I'm new.  I thought re-boot could help, but feared that nothing would not work thereafter, so I came here.  What should I do now?

* original title - the startup folder is empty. I had to add a printer, which I use for 2 years. I had to go to tools, IE, advanced and add address MYMSN, then it would come. See the complete notes following box.*

Using the F8 method:

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer'shardware be listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with the Boot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
  3. Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
  4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
  5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
  6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

    Thank you very much for your help.  I discovered through trail and error that
    the Administrative Tools folder had been moved to another area... I have
    no idea how it happened, but I was able to take and implement
    C, programs, Microsoft, startup disk.
    To make it work now :)

    Firefox updated "bookmark backups" folder is empty. Had to change profile.ini to profile.iniOLD to work around the problem "profile is missing or inaccessible. I tried jscher2000 suggested the procedure to return to the old profile but did not include 'semi random name' in the folder of old data from Firefox, which seems to be incomplete, as said "favorite backups" folder is empty and stupid I'm not manually save my favorites (years of research). I thought when I ran the time machine they saved automatically. is it possible to recover bookmarks?

    Why photos starts automatically when you restart. It is NOT in the folder.so of starting, why what is happening? I never use photos, so it's a loss of memory perfectly!

    Perhaps you have a device with linked images that attempts to import Photos?

    Also where the startup folder did you check?

    The files I downloaded are still on the download list (small box). However, the download in my documents folder is empty. These files are still around?

    You can right click on a file in the Download Manager window to check that.

    Open and open the folder that contains are grey in the context menu, then the file is no longer present in the original download location.

    One possible cause is a problem with the places.sqlite file that stores the bookmarks and history.

    The buttons are missing for all users on the computer? If necessary, create a new user account to see if your user account has become somehow corrupt.

    When did you notice the lack of buttons? If it is a recent issue, follow the steps in this document to perform the system restore. This will restore your computer to a previous state.

    Go to the startup folder and right-click on it and click Proprties and then click on the location and enter C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup.  Click OK.  When you click Open the next time it should now open the folder that corresponds to your startup folder.

Here is my problem for the last 3 months, I got a problem with the installation of programs on my newest PC is Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2. After Installation the problem is that when I go to start and all programs folder menus and switch to this folder the last installed Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2, the program shows as empty folder. I can't run anything in the menu start all programs. Other small programs that I installed, I was able to start the program to find the exe to start and worked with it by starting the program example start.exe start. When I start sqlservr.exe manually from C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL server\MSSQL10_50.SQLEXPRESS\MSSQL\Binn it comes up with a black screen and a small window which I don't know that I do not get the appropriate permissions on the files it needs to run. C: Program Files and c: data files have corrupted permissions or other files are corrupt is there a way to reset these permissions back to their original condition or what else is happening here? Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated thank you in advance.     Many programs have their choice as to if you want to start at startup or not.

    You would normally open the program > tools > Options > General etc. > uncheck the box "Run at Windows startup" or words like that.

    And you can take them out of boot using one of the following two methods:
